Grayson has a very unimpressive 1-3 record but are just a few points shy of being undefeated. It's very easy to also come to the conclusion, they could just as easily be winless. It should also be mentioned, Grayson's first four opponents are a combined 5-11 and West Wilkes might be the worst opponent anyone in the MED faces all season. Grayson won that game 15-14 in OT.
With that said, I can't determine if Grayson has a stout defense or haven't played anyone with a heartbeat on offense. I'm leaning toward the later!

I guess it’s possible he could have been sucked through a golf hole to a parallel cartoon dimension and forced to play the cosmic all-stars in a winner take all basketball game. It just seems unlikely given his track record.
Time will tell I guess!
-
The least surprising news of the season. Turner has quit everywhere he’s been!

I don't know who you are referring to exactly. I can assure you, Galax coaches and administrators are on here often! Shawn Knight from the VHSL was on record in an article in the Roanoke Times pointing to complaints from Glade in respect to the Galax game being moved. He is in charge of competition for VHSL. It's his job to determine when and where playoff games will be played. I don't believe anyone is disputing the fact that Chilhowie didn't want to play Galax on turf. Not sure why though. They were clearly the better team.
I understand the ship has sailed in terms of public opinion on where complaints came from. Believe what you want. I couldn't care less. My only point is, if you believe Mark Dixon isn't up for a challenge, you clearly don't know Mark Dixon! Complaints didn't come from him.
-
This was spelled out chapter and verse both in the Roanoke Times as well as the Bristol Herald Courier. The initial complaint came from Chilhowie's regional final opponent. Nobody from Galax ever complained. Dixon would play anybody in a Walmart parking lot if he had to!

Not exactly how Dixon runs a program. He has probably 25 players who are basically interchangeable. The “second stringers” have played half the first two games.
Score was 44-7 so, JV’s got a look.

I believe the rule is, you can’t turn 19 before August 1st. Plenty of kids turning 19 shortly thereafter though!
-
Completely understand that. My younger daughter will turn 15 halfway through her freshman year and wasn’t held back. But if a kid is turning 15 in January, they didn’t play football as a 15 year old freshman.
Semantics, I suppose but all things in this circumstance aren’t equal. As @jonah58 said, the presumed advantage is being a 19 year old senior football player.
-
Please, allow me to rephrase!
If a current freshman is already 15, they have been held back! If a kindergartener is turning 6 in August/September, they started school a year late.
-
First, I don’t have a bone to pick and this isn’t personal. Just offering that, your math is a bit flawed. When counting from 0 to 5 using fingers, you’ll use 6 fingers. Point being, kids don’t attend public school for 14 years, it’s 13.
My daughter is a freshman and only turned 14 less than 6-weeks ago. She began kindergarten at age 5, first grade at 6, second grade at 7, third grade at 8, fourth grade at 9, fifth grade at 10, sixth grade at 11, seventh grade at 12, eighth grade at 13 and ninth grade at 14.
Simply adding 5 to the total number of grade levels counts the age “5” year twice. More to the point of the OP, any freshman who is currently 15, has been held back!
