  1. Rod my good man...because I have mellowed a bit, I will overlook one transgression. But I am compelled to provide you with this admonishment (paraphrased from Haruki Mariyuma): "...Think of me as an endangered animal. It is best to observe me quietly and from far away. If you try to talk to me or casually touch me, I may become agitated (or bored) and bite you". So should you chose to enter that arena, remember that "a Bearcat always pays his debt".
  2. Oh boy...VaPreps is invading this site! Before long, you will have Hampton Roads 6 or one of those idiots from Riverheads following suit. On second thought, I doubt they would last long though. You need thick skin, a sense of humor and actual sports knowledge to be relevant on this site.
  3. I like Walker but have really started paying attention in the last few weeks. That being said, Cruz/Carson would be a solid ticket, IMHO. Cruz and Carson are both incredibly intelligent and actually believe what they say.
  4. Tennessee High...and there are way too many to single out just one...
  5. If I could wave the proverbial magic wand over the political landscape, I think it would look something like this: Prez: GMan -- we really need someone to wield the hammer in politics VP: BlueRazor -- probably the best person to try to keep the Prez from going overboard Sec of State: UVAO -- if you do not understand this selection, I got nothing for you Senate Majority Leader: Me...just so I could continue irritating the Speaker of the House (Ryan). Of course, we would go on hiatus during the HS football season...
  6. Scott Walker brings a lot to the table...
  7. Virginia High at Tennessee High...probably the only game I will get to see in person this year.
  8. You know it is coming so I will start... SWVA All time Bottom 10 coaches -- I will nominate Thurman as #1 or #10; which ever is considered the worst.
  9. I respect Gate City's tradition and programs. Their fans are very annoying during close games and are unbearable in losses. But the players do play (win or lose) with a certain class/pride. Absolutely loved playing against Tennessee High, especially at the Stone Castle. VHS is and will remain a baseball school until someone with a strong character/personality takes over the football program. Way too much political/parental involvement in the football program. I have said it before: VHS could be the SW version of James Monroe HS with their athletes if only they had the right head coach and administration.
  10. VHS had to overcome a 5-0 deficit in the first meeting to win 7-5. Abingdon is pretty good...they definitely pass the "eye test". I think VHS has a chance to make a decent run in the post season...BUT another trip to the final four will be tough to attain IMHO.
  11. I just hope VHS remembers the 2013 post season and plays accordingly.........
  12. From the list G-man provided, most of us are cows anyway...
  13. I feel for you guys. I really do. But, dang, it is especially good to be a Bearcat during baseball season! (Yeah, yeah, I know...it is ALWAYS good to be a (insert name).
  14. VHS 7 Lebanon 1. Lebanon had 1 hit in the game. It appears that after losing 9 seniors, the Bearcats have reloaded.
  15. I doubt Honaker would want to play given that a few of their better players have transferred to VHS. The coach of the local high school near me told me they stopped scrimmaging and playing the private schools because they lost a player or two every year after doing so.
  16. I'll put the updates in the shoutbox
  17. Honaker 40...Surry 32 at the half
  18. G-man....I am right here. I do not hide when my team(s) lose. I have the absolute understanding that anything can happen in sports. Grundy won. Congratulations and good luck to them moving forward. Since the weather has limited the amount of time the baseball team can get on the field, I had hoped that my beloved Bearcats would have advanced on the hardwood. Oh well...at least UVA secured the ACC regular season title at Syracuse last night. Talis est vita.
  19. It does not really matter who coaches at VHS...the "boosters" will run him off in a year or two. I say bring back Fred Fisher and Burrhead Bradley.
  20. That is "Coach Speak 101"... would not expect for him to say anything other than that. Do not give up hope...if the R-lands job opens, he will probably throw his hat in the ring.
  21. C'mon Canes00...as long as your team is still playing, you care.
  22. I heard that Thurman loved his time at VHS and SWVA so much that he is applying to coach at JSB! Truthfully, I would not wish that on anyone...except maybe Tennessee High.
  23. Well Dan River is probably out...their best player dislocated his ankle and is done for the season. Just give the trophy to my beloved Bearcats and let's get on with baseball season!!
