Where did you find this? From the numbers I found on VHSL.org, Richlands is the 6th largest school in Region IV. That would leave only 5 schools in Division 4, with 10 schools in Division 3.

1 Bassett 1286

2 Magna Vista 1177

3 Carroll County 1078

4 Abingdon 975

5 Tunstall 849

6 Richlands 840

7 Lee 814

8 Martinsville 774

9 Marion Senior 755

10 Patrick County 722

11 Virginia 677

12 Dan River 628

13 Tazewell 562

14 Grundy Senior 505

15 Graham 481

Yet another mistake by the VHSL that needs to be corrected. I called them on one a couple of years ago and they took care of it before the season started. Guess I better get on the horn again...

People, pay no attention to the numbers you see on your screen!

These falsified figures are a vile piece of slander planted by my arch-nemesis to do damage to my good name.

Odd man down to D3 being Richlands...just like Martinsville last year. Makes sense to me...

The SWD title now means something ( that is unless Carrol County wins...lmfao.) This also means if Va High wins the Highlands there is no possible way for all of the SWD teams to make the playoffs again...hmmmm...this configuration of D3-D4 is very very interesting...Richlands - Tazewell - Grundy - Graham possibly mixing and matching it up in the playoffs sounds like good football to me.

Richlands to D3 has huge implications.

Sounds like a bad idea to me. I hate the idea of playing a team twice. You should only have to beat them once. Under this scenario Richlands already plays 5 of 7 possible play-off opponents.

I always look forward to Grundy and Graham in the playoffs myself...i think just the opposite...playing a team twice makes it that much harder...look at Grundy and Va High..played back to back again last year...I think getting any of the SWD teams together in the playoffs will be a slugfest...I'd love to go see Graham and Grundy on Friday night and Tazewell and Richlands on Sat then the winners the next week for the region...would be good match ups if you ask me.

The VHSL used the ADM "as reported to the State Dept. of Education on March 31, 2004" for their every-other-year "realignment", which will occur oer the Summer. This is the "Graham = 481" set Cougarfan posted.

My guess is G-Man's "Graham = 502" set is the ADM submitted 6 weeks ago, which would make the D4 & D3 headers useless, since the 2005 ADM numbers shouldn't be used for anything "official" by the VHSL (maybe the R&R people will use it to tweak the proposed 2007 plan... you never know).

I've never seen the VHSL "overhaul" the realignment when new numbers come out. Cougarfan's 2004 set ("Graham = 481") has already been presented, cussed, discussed, appealed, modified & approved for the next 2 school years. No changes except when a school opens or closes (like Magna Vista went through last Fall).

As I said, the VHSL should pick an enrollment number and stick with it through the entire process...
