IMO, the logical choice for a 10th game would be Haysi. They only have 9 games, they are close by and it should bring a fairly large gate. They're a team Grundy can beat and Haysi should win most of their games, but they won't be as good as they've been the past couple of years. Even though they're worth a couple less points for beating, it should be around the same for Grundy to play Haysi as playing Marion or Abingdon.

Its actually much closer to Haysi from Grundy than it is to Abingdon or Marion....But I think Olewave said in an earlier post that Grundy has called them about the 10th game and they did not return the call.

Haysi always has trouble getting games because no one usually wants to travel all the way up there and now they have a good close by school that wants to play them and they don't wanna play. That is kinda sad...

It's one thing when a team would rather schedule someone else... but to settle for only 9 games because you don't want to play Grundy is stupid. It's not fair to the kids or the fans.

Having Grundy on the schedule or adding any team that will have a winning season whether Haysi wins or loses against that team would also greatly increase Haysi's chances of making the playoffs as well. With Rye Cove back in D1 this year, that will make 2 wild card spots in the playoffs assuming Thomas Walker doesn't win the Cumberland. Guess Haysi's content to just let Clintwood have one wild card spot and loser of GC/PV have the second wild card.

Yeah I talked to Coach Colley about playing Grundy last year because all the Haysi fans and players are in favor of having Grundy on the schedule because of the close proximity and the quality program. Unfortunately he is still holding a grudge from something that happened back in like '97 when the two teams played. Something about a long touchdown pass with 3 seconds left on the clock and Grundy leading 13 to 0, kinda trivial in my mind. Anyway, I agree that its unfair to the fans and players not to play the game when both teams need it...you have to let bygones be bygones.

So is Graham only having 9 games this year???

Graham ends up with 10 games by playing Bluefield twice.

Bluefield twice because Abingdon decided to play Honaker instead of Graham.
