BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted July 16, 2007 Slow from what I hear. I don't think they've started laying the carpet yet.
Hokies4Ever 23 Report Share Posted July 16, 2007 I drove by there Friday and they have the gravel down. It shouldnt be much longer.
VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted July 19, 2007 I was over there Tues. afternoon - they were still working on leveling the gravel - no turf in sight.
shanefive 11 Report Share Posted July 26, 2007 Drove by today and still no turf? Practice starting next week, and only the small practice field (about half a football field) to practice on. Looks like it might be tough for the tigers to prepare? No home game scheduled until the 3rd game of the year so should be ready?
Hokies4Ever 23 Report Share Posted July 26, 2007 2nd game of the year they play Richlands on the new Turf.
cityofRaven 2,457 Report Share Posted July 27, 2007 if the weather drys up that turf doesnt take long at all to lay, one week is enough time to pratice on the turf, and they got more then enough room to pratice on in honaker
vthokies4life 10 Report Share Posted July 27, 2007 dude   you spelled FIELD wrong...   i would personally be embarrassed...
Hokies4Ever 23 Report Share Posted July 27, 2007 As long as its ready by the first game of the year thats all that matters. Practicing on the new turf doesnt give you any advantage. So them having to practice on there grass field wont hurt them at all.
shanefive 11 Report Share Posted July 31, 2007 Any more reports out of Honaker? Are they close?
BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted July 31, 2007 I saw the field Sunday. It looks like everything is ready to start laying carpet but there was none in site. Didn't someone say they sent the wrong carpet the first time so now they have to wait?

shanefive 11 Report Share Posted August 8, 2007 I heard today at lunch that they were still laying gravel and still a good ways from being complete?
VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted August 9, 2007 seems like I rem. someone saying somewhere that installation of the turf itself takes 2-3 weeks, so they'll be cuttin' it close (of course, it shouldn't be much of a problem/hassle to change it around & play R away this year and home next year - that'll givem 2 more weeks). 51Leb51 10 Report Share Posted August 9, 2007 ForeverGreen is going to be there sometime this week Friday I guess and start laying it, if it is not down by the time the contract expires they will get sued.
NCVA 10 Report Share Posted August 9, 2007 I heard that originally turf company was supposed to be there in early July, but the contractor ran into some unexpected things under the field which delayed their end of things thus pushing the turf back. I think now turf company is rearranging things to get people in to make sure field is done. I doubt there will be any suing going on, just some unexpected circumstances that threw off the logistics. WileyX 10 Report Share Posted August 15, 2007 The turf has been rolled out on the field. Orange End Zones and Green with lines, no numbers or lettering yet. Just rolled out it looks good. Can't wait to see the finished product.
BLU 10 Report Share Posted August 15, 2007 Ol' Hicks stadium got the shaft didn't they? I was hoping they would have it before the beavers come to town.
