We have people on here who seem to know for sure that it is not happening.We have some people that seem to know that it is happening.Some people seem to think that we should not do anything since one thinks that it is poppycock.Well, that is a scary scenario.Some people seem to think you can look outside and say that it is cold so there must be no global warming or that you can predict global warming on the basis of a few years. That is the difference between weather and climate.And usually in the United States and in other parts of the world when it is cold somewhere,it is warm somewhere else.For instance in the United States this year,it was wetter and cooler that normal in some parts of the east but it was warmer than normal in the far western states.When we talk of global warming we are talking about the climate of the whole world for long periods of time.I am not smart enough to predict what the outcome will be.I saw one scientific program on discovery that focused on the evaporation of water from a pan. It showed all over the world that the evaporation rate was less than it had been predicted even though Global temperatures have gone up.These three scientists theorized that regular polution is masking the effects of global warming,that as we clean up the skies global warming will get much worse much faster,because as carbon heats up the atmospere,blocking of the suns rays by polution particles causes it to cool somewhat.

First of all it seems that someone needs to get their facts straight and quit listening to some made up theory by Al Gore. The fact is that Al Gore made all of $2 million in his political career, which was well over 20 years. However, in the 10-12 years that he has been pushing global warming very hard he has made $100 million. He is in it for the money. He doesn't even believe what he is preaching because he flies around in his private jet to conferences to speak on the subject. Seems to be a little hypocritical to me!!!

 

Now on to the actual subject of global warming. There is no scientific proof for man-made global warming. More and more scientists every day are saying that it doesn't exist. But if anyone was to do some of their own research they would realize that there is no such thing. Yes, glaciers are melting in parts of the polar ice caps but in other parts they are expanding. That is a FACT. It has been that way for thousands of years. The earth goes through warming and cooling trends, it always has. And trying to blame this on carbon emissions is ridiculous. It is a proven FACT that 70%-80% of carbon emissions come from volcanoes. So there is no way that an increase in that 20% could cause this change.

 

Al Gore is a joke who doesn't even believe in what he says, BOTTOM LINE IS HE IS IN IT FOR THE MONEY. Man-made globabl warming is a hoax. I dont understand how some people in America can be so simple minded and be fooled this easily. The problem is no one is willing to do the reasearch on their own. A lot of people just take what the liberal media feeds them and then they run with it. The Global Warming hoax is just evidence that proves how easily people are fooled and scared into believing something. People need to begin to have a mind of their own and do some research. Warming and cooling does happen but it happens in trends and is in NO WAY caused by man.

Trust me, son. I'm not "taking what the liberal media feeds them". But it's a FACT that humans aren't exactly helping this situation. Are humans the driving force behind it? Absolutely not, global warming is a natural cycle. But instead on looking at facts, you go off on some wild tangent about Al Gore, whom I never mentioned the first time. My position isn't even THAT different than yours! Global warming IS a reality, whether you like it or not. But to say that it is not at least .00001% contributory to human behavior is scientifically inaccurate and laughably short-sighted. Terrible post.

The head of the Uva environmental science club until 2007 has taken a whole lot of money from electric utilities,coal companies and alike.Im sure that he did not influence everybody at Uva.Obviously,even if you thought differently on this subject you would have to agree that your opinions were formed based upon info from a very biased source.Uva environmental science.Study heavily other views and then come back and tell me what you think.Most people tend to believe what they want to hear and our minds are like large computers that hear and learn from what we see,feel and touch.Socrates once asked why everybody thought he was the smartest person in Greece.He came to the conclusion that he realized how ignorant he was and so had the gift of lifetime learning.When you become proud or biased in your opinions,education stops. The world is flat!

I'll jump in this fight. First I have an environmental management degree so I had more than a few classes and selected lecturers. Global warming is happening and will continue to happen until the "cycle" the earth is on changes. This planet is old, Ice ages come and go. Warming trends come and go. More pollution is released in one volcanic eruption than the total of all burning man has done since the dawn of time. Termites produce 10 times the amount of carbon as man does burning fossil fuels. And yes Lance, Cattle are the #1 producer of methane on the planet. The only environmental problem on our planet is over population. Everything else is localized events that "man" who has the "God Complex" says I caused it. Not that I think any of you will, because most environmental terrorists do not care about the facts, but let me suggest you a book. Trashing the Planet by Dixy Lee Ray It will give you some facts on the matter.

The problem that I have with the "global warming, we are all doomed to die in 50 days if we don't do something community," is the ACTUAL INTENT of their movement. The Al Gores of the world have no intention of "saving" the planet, their only agenda is CONTROL AND MONEY!

 

Population control is one of the leading reasons behind the propaganda that is being pushed down everyone's throat, the modern progressives wish to control every aspect of your life, each of us are a cog in a machine and they want all of us to work together as a a collective unit. The idea of INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY does not sit well with these folks, furthermore many of them are hypocrites.

 

Why would anyone go out of their way to FALSIFY INFORMATION, on this subject, unless they had an agenda?

 

The planet is actually cooling and has been for around a decade, cleverly enough, the new mantra is not "GLOBAL WARMING," it is now being dubbed "CLIMATE CHANGE," this way they can spew out their rhetoric regardless of what the climate is doing. Mankind IS INDEED responsible for environmental pollution and we do have AN impact on the environment, but we will not, ever destroy this planet!

 

Furthermore, as proof that the mainstream media is in bed with this movement is the fact that a rather minimal amount of coverage has been given to the recent CLIMATEGATE debacle. This incident does not disprove all information, but it does make one wonder what the agenda is and just how far these folks will go to spread their message, even if it means falsifying information........

 

Finally, with all due respect to those of you who have taken a variety of courses in environmental science (I have over 24 credits myself), and or listened to a variety of lectures on the subject, did it ever occur to you that just possibly the person instructing or lecturing could be part of the same liberal SUBJECTIVISM that wants you to believe what they are saying? A national poll recently found that 84% of college professors defined themselves as LIBERALS as opposed to conservatives, everyone knows that college professors will push their views down your throats if you allow them to do so, rarely is their message OBJECTIVE. So this idea that the "science is settled," is absolute nonsense, especially if you consider the 31,000 environmental science professors that disagree with the global warming elite!
