Unchained 587 Report Share Posted September 30, 2010 Andrew Nash,a junior Tight end on the Kelly football team will suit up for the Tribe just a week after seeing his dad murdered in his own home. I lost my dad violently at 17 so I really feel this young man's pain, and know his is worse,as he saw his dad lose his life. This week has really been tough on the kids from J.J.Kelly,and here's hoping that a little football tomorrow on The Reservation (homecoming) will at least bring a smile for a little while. please keep this fine young man and his family in your thoughts and prayers. He really is a quality young man.
tbgfan 856 Report Share Posted September 30, 2010 Andrew, there are no words to take away your pain and loss, but may you find strength and comfort for each day, with your loved ones. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, young man. Psalm 147:3--He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

1inStripes 933 Report Share Posted October 1, 2010 Oddly enough I worked JJK's game a few weeks ago. I did not know the young man, but when I heard about the murder I found out his mother and my wife are first cousins. No doubt its been a tough situation, and it was great to see the football team rally around a teammate at the funeral.

I'm not saying this because my son is on this squad Stripes, but this is the most close-knit Kelly team that I have ever seen. If you see one out,you usually see the others hanging out with them. Thank you all for the kind words (certainly are appreciated).

battleftbl 42 Report Share Posted October 1, 2010 I'll have this young man in my thoughts and prayers. It would take alot of courage to go out and play after what he's went though the past week. Hopefully getting out on the field tonight will help him with the healing process, or atleast provide a moment of happiness in such a terrible time. God Bless, and Good Luck Indians

Unchained 587 Author Report Share Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) Typical Kelly-RC game with JJK giving the Eagles plenty of help (don't know why we have history of being flat with these guys). 2 TDs called back, 4 turnovers, 3 personal foul flags..etc,but considering that the kids were coming off bye week, and dealing with the off-field situation,we'll surely take the win. Tribe took a knee at the Rye Cove 1 to end the game (really like when we do that-liked it at PH earlier this year, and liked it tonight). I thought the defense played pretty well, especially with the spots we put em in. No doubt with the stretch run coming,we'll have to be better than tonight, but awfully glad to see the kids get the win,and proud of them. J.J. Kelly 29, Rye Cove 14 J.J. Kelly’s Brandon Osborne ran for 200 yards and entered paydirt three times as the Indians ran all over Rye Cove. Rye Cove got touchdowns from Zach Wilson off a 16-yard pass from Chase Rollins and added a 2-yard run Patrick Fritz, but Kelly racked up 452 yards rushing as a team to secure the win.
