Ryan4VT 4,557 Report Share Posted May 12, 2015 Who is Tom Rife? Used to be the coach at Richlands in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted May 13, 2015 Hahaha good job Tazewell, hope you enjoy the 4 corners offense. You hit on my initial thought. This seems to be a knee-jerk overreaction to the Westhead-on-steroids scheme they ran last year.
techfan 43 Report Share Posted May 13, 2015 Tom Rife was out of touch with basketball when he coached it 25 years ago can't imagine he has gotten any better. He actually had some really good teams in the early/mid 90s at Richlands if they would have had a coach I think they could have went far. RichlandsAlum 678 Report Share Posted May 15, 2015 Rife coached the JV boys team, the girls team, and the varsity boys during his coaching tenure in Richlands. He won district championships with all three teams (and significantly, some of those JV and girls' titles were achieved in the old 11-team SWD -- no slight accomplishment there) and if he's not the all-time leader in wins among RHS varsity boys coaches, he's bound to be awfully close. Not sure what Tazewell is hoping to accomplish long-term, but my two cents is that Rife can develop some much needed stability in the hoops program -- if they'll let him.
