I do think Ridgeview @ Honaker will be a good game but as far as extreme SWVA goes, Union @ John Battle is more of the "game of the week" type to me. Shades of that Graham-Gate City game from 2 years ago...a team that should have been nowhere near the playoffs against a legitimate state contender. swva_havok_fan 1,261 Report Share Posted October 30, 2016 I haven't figured up what if scenarios for next week based on who's likely to win and whatnot, but a buddy of mine from Coeburn messaged me on Facebook yesterday and said he figured it up and that if things go as as projected next week, then we would actuallly tie Central for the final spot. Â It is weird man... last year, it took us getting to 6-4 to get in. Â 5-5 wouldn't have cut it last year. Â This year we're talking about possibly 3-7 getting in. futbolking 766 Report Share Posted October 30, 2016 From what I hear about Goochland from some guys I work with they are the real deal this year. Usually when they get hot they take it all. Hopefully we're not overlooking the East teams again! Couple of friends of mine live in Henrico County, just past Goochland. Â They say they are very good, but not as good as their state title teams, but have been getting better as the year goes on. Â One of those teams that is coached very well, strong on both sides of the line and very disciplined....that could be a tough matchup for anybody on this end. Glenvar isn't anything special IMO but Floyd just doesn't have what it takes. I truly believe that Lee/Va High is a complete toss-up, but Va High should have lots of fans this week as it benefits everyone except Lee and Ridgeview for a Bearcat victory. Gretna, Va High, Tazewell, James River, and Ridgeview would all need to lose. That should get Central the #16 seed and a VERY difficult game against either Graham or Appo. swva_havok_fan 1,261 Report Share Posted October 31, 2016 I was glad that I pretty much had everything spot on this week with the exception of Radford, where I must have had a typo error, giving them 48 rider points instead of 58...  So, if the order of teams on the VHSL Top 20 sheets are correct, I am assuming that Gretna would get the tiebreak over Ridgeview, meaning that the chance of making the playoffs would be basically null.
