I didn’t realize that. I ran into him shopping at Lowe’s about 10 years ago and thought he said he quit. Good for him!!! So he should have close to 20 years with DOC? I’m thinking it was maybe 99 or 2000 when I resigned. Thomas was working property then.

He may have left and come back,  Im not sure. I was there at the corrupt place for 2 years total and he was there my length of time as the Rec Supervisor

Friday may be too early.  Have heard from a couple players game could be moved to Saturday.  Last I saw rain should be outta here by Saturday afternoon, so I hope they're right.

Unions field does extremely well with water. Now the amount of rain in a short time may be a different story. I've watched some PV/Appy classics in a mudbowl. As long as it's not lightening I say let the boys play.

The touchdown pass he threw to Qualls was really nice. However, the interception that he threw in Qualls direction was a pretty bad overthrow

It was a overthrown pass I agree, but I'm curious as if the sun in his eyes may have been a circumstance there

Turner really has to work on getting the ball out quicker on the shorter timing plays.

Agreed, especially with teams that have good speed on the corners. I noticed he was slow on some pitches to Owen's last night as well. Owens had to slow down and wait for it to develop moreso than zero to wide open, hit the hole and go. It's just week 1, were just getting settled in and we will be ok.

Heck, Union showed up as they started the national anthem, walked off the bus, stretched a little and then it was kickoff time.

Tradition, we've traveled up state and they pull off on the side of the road and warm up in a cow pasture.

I'm exaggerating a bit, but they don't like to show up til kickoff, and usually find somewhere else to warm up other than the field they are playing on.

Carrying on I agree with others, I don't think Travis opened his playbook up completely for this game, he flipped to the pages he needed for the win. He's not wanting his big plays on film this year for the Blues to study this week. Mitchell only had 3 catches, yes he was targeted a few more though. Like the article said, Burton had more punts than they did first downs. Hopefully they can get their program built back up soon. I guess the JIB folks chanting "overrated" at the scrimmage last week against VA High seen what it tasted like. Good luck the rest of the year.

To Jarhead - do you know/suspect who the starting defensive backs are likely to be for the Bears? Or the safety? (As a Bear's fan, I realize that there are a number of exciting possibilities.)

the possibilities are endless IMO, do you move James back to safety so he can scan the whole field? or leave him up front on the end, do you put Polier at LB or leave him on the line beside big Jeb and Barnett, or do you put some quicker speed like Dakota Owens at safety but is not as tall? Travis has alot of different options this year. Again, that's just my opinion

  7. Look for the transfer from lee to be starting on defense at DE or LB, Nick Polier, he's just a sophmore, been watching him in practice and the kid loves to hit and goes 110% at all times.

  8. I agree with the above mentioned comments on Union.. O-Line will be the deciding factor. Running game should be as good, if not better IMO. We lose Fannon but Owens and Jenkins have the speed, just not the same power as Fannon.  Passing game should follow suit, all we lose there is Jenkins but Falin that's a sophomore should step into that spot easily and even adds depth at TE. Defensively, we lose two good DE's in Colot and Guerrant but there's some young talent there too. Should be another good year for Union. I expect 9-1 or 8-2 at worst. Possibly a postseason run. I'll go out on an even further limb and say that after the 2017 season you will see a significant drop off at Union. We have some young talent, just not enough to go around.

Luigi is just a junior, unless his age makes him ineligible

  9. What if he loves his dad more, but the judge awards custody to the mom because she is a woman and doesn't have a criminal record, but is still a poor decision maker?  Sorry.... just got on a tangent that has nothing to do with this thread at all.

Wouldn't surprise me, judicial system is screwed. Lol, not trying to start a debate here at all by any means.

  10. Hey, I know that one happens for sure.  Still a risk he's taking if he already has interest at the College level.  A scholarship to ANY college is very valuable.  Very few will go pro in a sport.  Most will use the degrees they earn to make a living for the rest of their lives. Most of the kids that are lucky enough to go D1 may never even set foot on the field.

I cannot argue this at all. Just my perspective on switching schools, I myself personally don't see anything wrong with a kid trying to better him/herself.

  11. If someone living in Ewing gets a job at Eastman then they would be silly not to move to kingsport no matter how good the kid is or isn't. There's no Eastman in Richlands though.

what if Tim's mom and dad are split, Tim loves his mom more, but Tim moves to Kingsport to live with his dad for his baseball
