  1. Nah, but there was this kid at Hampton in the 90s, Andre Inkerson or something, he's probably best evee from SWVA.
  2. Not when you read that article you posted about Oscar Smith. It just proves everything everyone says about the VHSL being a joke true. I can't imagine the GHSA or TSHAA allowing such nonsense.
  3. Holy shit. That's one of the shadiest things I've ever seen. How TF was that allowed? Three days??!? You can't possibly say this transfer was anything other than one school recruit a kid for the game. It's ridiculous and I hope the VHSL looks back and vacates this whole mess. You cannot allow this precedent. It opens up the entire state to recruiting kids for playoff games in the big three sports. Disgusting.
  4. That's a TD:INT ratio of over 9:1. At a high level of HS football, thats unheard of usually. But 3,100 passing yards at 82% completion? That's otherworldly. Ungodly. You might see 82% comp. on a passer with 1,500 yards and 15 TD, but 3,100 yards and 49 TD? Just insane.
  5. I think it's possible that with the current format, we could see the exact same title game in 1A for three straight years with Galax and Riverheads. Chilhowie I agree will not go away next year, but I think Galax only improves and could be the West king for a few years in a row.
  6. I agree with your general point, the level of defense in the B12 is why the conference hasn't won a title since Vince Young, who had a NASTY defense. But TCU sticks out, because finishing at 16 against offenses in the B12 is like being a top five overall defense in Big 10 or even SEC. Just the style of play leads to lots of yards and points because of amount of possessions. TCU just didn't have the offense to compete with OU this year, the defense kept them in the first game and then got blown out in the second game. I think UGA is considerably better than TCU in most aspects of defense tho so they can hopefully have more success in getting off the field. Their run game should help as well, staying on the field and eating clock.
  7. I wouldnt go that far, TCU is pretty talented on defense. Mat Bosen is LEGIT
  8. That's for sure a very rough slate. @UoL isn't a notorious tough place to play but having to face Lamar Jackson is an unenviable task. @VT is a very tough road game, arguably second toughest road ACC game after at Death Valley. I think @MSU is tougher than @UoL, and @Auburn is tougher than Auburn at home but playing @Tech is probably at least as tough as hosting LSU, this season. I didn't realize Clemson had such a tough start to their season, props to them. They prob repeat.
  9. It's a business decision first and foremost because no other teams had a demonstrably better argument than Alabama. Simple as that. You can't play down Bamas schedule and prop up UCF, UCF played three quality teams all season. They had a three game season, only having to get up three times. Bama had six of those (FSU, LSU, MSU, TAMU, AU, OM). UT beat GT, got smacked around by Alabama. Vandy beat Kansas State, got smacked around by Alabama. When you're Alabama, or Clemson, or Oklahoma, every team has incentive to beat you. You're never the underdog. That's a tough proposition for college kids, you never get that edge. And playing quality teams back to back is rough. Injuries happen, look at Auburn and Alabama both. Bama has lost four starting LBs this season, and still lost only once. Look at the November schedule for Alabama. Playing LSU, at Mississippi State and at Auburn over the course of four weeks. Show me another school with that amount of quality games in such a short time frame. Auburn is only other team, but there's was five weeks IIRC. Not to mention Bama had three OOC wins over teams with 6+ wins. FSU was preseason #2, Fresno State won NINE games and Colorado State won seven. Three bowl teams OOC. Who else did that?
  10. If it was just the Clemson loss or LSU loss alone, I could see both SECCG teams making it. But with it being three losses, it's hard to put them in despite having probably best resume in CFB with Oklahoma. OU beat tOSU and TCU, AU beat Bama and UGA. Bamas wins aren't as strong, but only one loss being on the road to a top five team saved them. If Auburn had won by 21 instead of 12, Bamas probably at home. But the voters (rightfully so IMO) penalized tOSU greatly for the horrible loss against Iowa. Giving up 50 and losing by 40 to Iowa discounts any team.
  11. Stripes defending Alabama? I never thought I'd live to see the day.
  12. Wprst loss in years? A twelve point loss on the road to a top five at the time team is the worst loss??
  13. He wanted clarification for the obvious incorrect call? Union has done that all season long and it's perfectly legal. It was incorrectly flagged and turned out to be a huge call.
  14. Ridgeview probably wins Mountain. Union prob goes 6-4. Union may make a run in 2019, but next year will be rough. A very talented group of 8th graders but they're couple years away. The youngest Jenkins brother is going to be a stud.
  15. Beat ranked MSU on road, beat FSU, and beat same LSU team that AU couldn't. Losses have to mean something. A team with three losses shouldn't get more credit than a team with one. Auburn went to SECCG by virtue of a tiebreaker. Both had one SEC loss.
  16. Bama beat four teams ranked at the time, and had road wins at MSU and TAMU. Auburn lost three games. Alabama lost one, to a top 5 team. Auburn lost to the top team, a top 5 team and a top 25 team. Having one loss >>>>>three. If head to head was the decider, why isn't Syracuse in ahead of Clemson? Iowa State instead of Oklahoma? Be salty all you want but Alabama deserved to be there. They were 11-1, with one loss on the road by 12. Ohio State lost twice, once at home and once on the road by 40. Auburn lost three times. Wisconsin beat fewer good teams than Bama. UCF beat one ranked team and only played two quality teams all year. USC had two losses, one by 30. Committee got it right.
  17. So we just act like Bama wasn't ravaged by injuries too? If Bama played Auburn on a neutral field, I'd take Bama every time.
  18. That's not true, Ohio State got in last year without being conference champions.
  19. And Dakota Owens should've been first team RB over Zirkle.
  20. I saw it, and the ref was right there and didn't call it. It's a shame he stood there watching the Appo player get two handfulls of James jersey with and obviously hold and not call it. Appo had one sustained TD drive. Union had three.
  21. The call that went against Union and led to the punt which lead to the Appo TD was a horrendous call and if called correctly, it's 14-0 at the half and Union may have won. Refs miss calls, I won't harp on the obvious hold that allowed Appo to score on the punt return but the call at the end of the first half was gigantic and did play a big part in the game. Appo is a very good team. No doubt there. But if they played 10 times, they likely split 5-5.
  22. The horrendous no call when Mitchell was behind held right in front of the official on the PR TD was bad but that call was worse.
  23. I was standing right there with a clear view and saw and heard everything. It really wasn't the correct call but it's water under the bridge.
