According to that 2 playoff appearance along with BI with two, Tom Fletcher with 1 and Walt Padgett with one. I could be mistaken but St Paul was not a playoff powerhouse either. Outside of the great teams of BI Salyers I think not bad.

Guys just want to weigh in on this. SO if you do what everyone else to get kids out what happens if they dont lke the weight room and want to do something else? What if they hit too much in practice? No offense but RC does not have a spread type athletes in my opinion. Today Riverheads is playing and do they throw? Do they tell Casto what to run? How about last Monday night when the Patriots threw 3 passes? Has Belecheck lost it? the best teams playing today for the state championship will run the ball in my opinion. Ok I wanted to try and understand. They do not play in their adm but do have to play up a classification or two. I agree that these schools like LCA has the advantage with being able to get top notch athletes from surrounding schools.

Whats the problem with LCA? I read this and I can't figure out the issue. Yes they are private and yes they sued the VHSL and the VHSL knew they could not win the lawsuit, There was a special called meeting. LCA were doing the things that private schools do all across the state. VHSL could not justify keeping them out by law so they joined. Have they won a football state championship since? The same thing is happening across the nation with private schools. DOesn't Tennessee let the private schools compete?

I hope that Coach Akers is not practicing for PM or Galax yet! It seems most have a forgone conclusion on this weeks game. I respect the school and teams Holston has produced and they have a good team but Region D is down and truth be told who have they beat? 3 out of 12 teams had a winning record. PH beat both of those team( yes PH was the 3rd team).. PH injureis may be too much to overcome and yes Holston beat them when they were healthy. Just a gut feeling but I will stand by the upset of PH over Holston. I hope it is a great crowd to support the Region D football game.

Amazing to think the most successful football consistently over the last 10 years in Washington County is PH. Consider the last 2 years at Holston and Coach Matlocks in the beginning of 2010 Holston would be considered very successful. I know Abingdon is having a year and kuddos to them but they are the largest school in SWVA and I my opinion should have had more success. On to the game I have been able to watch both PH and Holston this year including the 1st matchup. Holston was the better team although the game was close., Since that time Holston has improved and considering the injuries PH has suffered it is a great tribute to their team and staff. Going into matchup 2 and Region Championship What does Coach AKers do differently? Does PH have an answer for the offense and defense of Holston? The pressure is on Holston as no one believes PH has a chance. I think Coach Akers keeps the same gameplan and coach padgett will have an attack that causes problems. The question is PH and their turnover problems if they turn it over it could be ugly. I have a gut feeling on this Holston 28 PH 30........with the upset. Good luck to both teams.

It is high school football unless their is gross safety negligence or a coach commits a crime they should not be fired. Good points on Harner he also in those 67 wins was a perfect 9-0 against NW. PH and Holston so once they left the schedule so did his 9-10 game winning seasons. Throw in a couple Bland and Auburn and narrows before Coach got Narrows going and exactly who has he beat?

Not to disrespect Chilhowie, Coach Robinson has proven himself to be a winner in both sports. They do have traditionally stronger group of athletes than other schools in SW VA. I think there has been other coaches that has done alot with less.

Best coaching staff that is very debatable. Just on this thread you would have to say that Akers and his staff would be a top staff. Just looking at tradition and size of school Holston is very impressive. Patterson left his mark and looks to be doing the same at Va High.
