  1. This game is almost as bad as that Greeneville/Sullivan Central game last week. Why not pick the same score? GW 84, Holston 0.
  2. Sure, because Tazewell will not help in the points at all. Marion would help quite a bit though.
  3. Right now, the top four seeds who would get the bye would be Riverheads, Sussex Central, Altavista and Franklin. Lunenburg Central, Colonial Beach and Essex would be 5-7. Riverheads and SC are probably the top two for sure, but Essex has lost a lot of games this year but have played a brutal schedule. They are probably a good sleeper team to watch.
  4. I wish my good buddy, coach Todd Tiller, the best of luck, but sadly have to go with the G-Men in this one.
  5. Oh, I do too. I like the way it is now. I don't like the same matchups in the playoffs that we've already seen in the regular season. I would've never seen Buckingham County last year until they came to Richlands. I would've never seen Glenvar last year until they came to Union. I would've never got to visit Giles until Ridgeview travelled there last year. I saw Riverheads in back to back weeks because they came to GW, and then I went to Salem and watched them as well.
  6. True... but a 9-1 Haysi team had to sit at the house one year because of that, while a 4-6 team made it.
  7. No question, Hurley would lose.
  8. I would go with 6 from each region, with the top two seeds getting the opening week bye. 1A East and 4A West sort of do this already now, with only 12 teams making it from those two regions, instead of the customary 16, and the top 4 seeds getting the opening round bye.
  9. Hurley is one of those teams which has a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE homefield advantage. They can easily fill up their one section of seats with their own folks and shut the other team's fans completely out. It's where they played PM last year. Unless GW or Galax get upset in the first two rounds, Hurley will be on the road by round 3. And how many of those Hurley folks will travel? It's a looooooooong way from Hurley to GW or Galax.
  10. Honestly hope you're right, but will be hard once away from the friendly confines of the Cliff.
  11. I, very well, could've been one of those three. Lmao.
  12. I too think Essex can make a run this year like Galax last year from a mid seed. My semis would be 6E Essex at 1W George Wythe, 2W Galax at 1E Riverheads.
  13. If this is indeed how it plays out, then your two semifinals can't possibly happen. The two one seeds don't play each other in the semis.
  14. We held McNutt last year to literally nothing, maybe even negative yards. Not sure what Grundy has through the air but there IS a chance. I kind of hope Grundy wins, so they can host a first round game to be honest. A win by us gives us 32 power points and a very miniscule chance of potentially getting a playoff berth with a win over Honaker, and even those two wins probably won't be enough. But anyways... I think Grundy will win.
  15. Heck, if they just made those deep fried oreos, like the freaking sign says they do, I'd be happy. Lol!
  16. Yeah, same here... I'm not cussing him from the stands like I heard many do Friday night, but I certainly don't think his offense works with 2A ball. It works great for 1A, but not 2A.
  17. Yeah, it's right off 19E just past where you can turn on 321 to go towards Mountain City or Boone.
  18. I can't remember who it was, but back when I high school in the 90's, a team out east went winless during the regular season in basketball, but won two district tournament games to advance to the regionals, then won two games in the regionals and boom, they were in the state tournament. Haysi was in the tournament that yeas as well and I remember seeing it in the program, but just can't remember who it was.
  19. I just miss it being Haysi and not Ridgeview, where I knew practically everyone in the stands, whereas I know very few people at the games now.
  20. Lebanon was Region C in the 90's, yes, as Haysi played Lebanon in the semis in 1992 I believe. But under this new format, they will be Region D.
  21. I'll shut up now, since I done pissed you and your buddy off. I'll keep my opinions to myself from now on. Like I said, I'm pulling for Union in the playoffs, wherever they may travel. Good luck.
  22. Is the talk next year of doing the playoffs by 8 teams per region still ongoing, has that been confirmed or what, kind of like how 3A East and some of the other classifications do it now? If so, I was looking at 1A West and 2A West and seeing how things would look next year with this year's teams, if they system being talked about goes into effect. The former 2A West would look something like this: Region C, Division 2 Playoffs if system existed in 2016 1 Appomattox vs. 8 Radford 2 Dan River vs. 7 Floyd County 3 Martinsville vs. 6 Giles 4 Glenvar vs. 5 Fort Chiswell Out of the Playoffs 9 James River 10 Gretna 11 Chatham 12 Buckingham County 13 Nelson County Region D, Division 2 Playoffs if system existed in 2016 1 Richlands vs. 8 Lebanon 2 Graham vs. 7 John Battle 3 Union vs. 6 Gate City 4 Marion vs. 5 Lee High Out of the Playoffs 9 Wise Central 10 Virginia High 11 Tazewell 12 Grayson County 13 Ridgeview The former 1A West would look something like this: Region C, Division 1 Playoffs if system existed in 2016 1 George Wythe vs. 8 Auburn 2 Galax vs. 7 Bland County 3 Parry McCluer vs. 6 Rural Retreat 4 Narrows vs. 5 Covington Out of the Playoffs 9 Bath County 10 Eastern Montgomery 11 Craig County Region D, Division 1 Playoffs if system existed in 2016 1 Hurley vs. 8 Twin Springs 2 Grundy vs. 7 Castlewood 3 Chilhowie vs. 6 Twin Valley 4 Patrick Henry vs. 5 J. I. Burton Out of the Playoffs 9 Honaker 10 Thomas Walker 11 Eastside 12 Northwood 13 Holston 14 Rye Cove Note: Grundy drops to Division 1 next year while Fort Chiswell and Radford move to Division 2. So, if this system becomes a thing in 2017, does everyone like this format better or the format we have now? Positives: Less travel time guaranteed throughout the first three rounds of the playoffs, until the semifinals. Negatives: Almost a certainty you will play someone you've already played in the regular season. Using Union and Richlands as the example, both teams have four teams in their regional bracket they played in 2016.
  23. Sorry man, I like you and UVAO and respect your opinions, but the sand in the hourglass is running thin at this point.
  24. No they're not. Buckingham County is.
