Pretty good friends with a former Lee High player. Her son plays for D-B now and made first team all conference this year. I think they were really good back when she played for them back in the mid 90's.

I have the same thing as this except with Gate City winning. Also, I don't think Virginia High will necessarily blow out Ridgeview either. I think they'll win but not necessarily blow them out. Virginia High just didn't impress me all that much when I saw them against D-B. I saw Ridgeview twice. Against Battle on the road, they looked like a serious contender. Against Abingdon, they looked like they could lose to Council.
On the girls side, I believe the Mountain 7 will sweep the quarterfinals with Central and Ridgeview in the title game with Central winning. Battle girls almost beat Virginia High is why I think the Mountain 7 will sweep.
I believe DBs radio station didnt want to pay the fee to work the game that I think the district or VHSL sets for a radio broadcast. It wasnt that they werent allowed. I think the old Parrothead mentioned that on Twitter about by they wouldn't be there.

Updated girls bracket after last night's SWD girls semifinals. Only thing left for the girls bracket is dependent on the consolation between Richlands/Marion. Winner will be SWD 3, loser will be SWD 4.
The GC announcers said that they weren't allowed to do the GC-Central girls game because the Central admins saying there was no room for them. That's pretty pathetic. The GC announcers were very complimentary about the hospitality when they come to BSG though:)
Pretty strange considering the gyms are exact replicas of one another...
But in hindsight, Dobyns-Bennett's radio crews weren't allowed to broadcast in Gate City's gym either a couple years ago. Not sure of the reasoning behind that though.
Those are the locations for conference tournaments. To my knowledge the 2D Region tournament is at UVA-Wise.

Yeah, it is a little strange, but pretty sure it was like that last year also now come to think of it. 2D girls was at Richlands and 2D boys was at Graham I believe.
Being there, it was an awesome moment and that coming from a fan of the losers in this situation. Awesome to see a kid have a moment like that. Can't be mad about losing when something like that occurs.
Hopefully we can rebound tonight in the season finale against Greeneville and then try to make a run of epic proportions for the third straight year back to the Glass House. Will be a tall order considering we're the bottom seed in the district tournament.
Wise Central's girls didn't fare too well when they came to the TAC a couple weeks ago, maybe the Gate City boys will have a similar fate on Saturday when they pay a visit.
Gate City did beat Boone pretty handily though last week, and Boone beat us both times, so I'm not holding my breath.
Once had official visits to Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee among others... now relinquished to an NAIA school. Glad he's getting a chance somewhere, but so much potential wasted is a shame.
I’m pretty sure that’s what Lebanon and chilhowie had to do last year. But what happens if it’s a three way tie (I know it probably won’t but a pioneer fan can dream)
Pretty sure this happened several years ago with Richlands, Graham and someone else. They do some kind of drawing and the two "losers" of the drawing play each other. Loser of that game is the #3 seed in the district tournament. Winner of that game plays the "winner" of the drawing to determine the automatic region bid and #1 district tournament seeding. Both of these games would take place at a neutral site.
Abingdon isn’t great. They let a mediocre at best Union girls squad hang around for the entire game.
McAmis ain’t going 0-12 very often, I think they’d love another crack at DB
They beat us at their barn by 5 earlier in the season. So, we split the season series. It's hard to win games out of state. Different style of officiating. Looney is the one who really did the damage to us in both games. I think playing West Ridge between the two meetings with Central helped us quite a bit. West Ridge has two 6'3 girls and a 6'4.

Well on the bright side.... at least it's not in Wheeling and a much closer drive for Bluefield and Princeton and James Monroe.
