Congrats to the KIDS. Credit goes to the KIDS for not giving up during another Akers lackluster season. 3-7 would be great, I just hope 3 wins to end the season doesn’t justify another 365 day extension for Akers by the school board. But it probably would.

No doubt on GC will hire someone new...or even someone who has been in the program before. Just no more Hogo rejects or a kicker from Graham.

Is it me, or has this become a yearly tradition? GC has historically never played well at Lee. I say Lee in the neighborhood of 41-25.

I cringe when I think of Chris Davis screaming into the microphone.

Fight? More like a scuffle. I’ve seen more punches land in the nursing home. But on the serious note, those idiots should not be allowed to coach any longer. I’d be upset as a parent. I’m not a soft person, but those kids deserve better than that. Hopefully those “men” were not the kids fathers. 1) Because it sets a bad example 2) Their dad doesn’t know how to throw punches.

Ya, I heard about the scoreboard, so dumb. I was told they replaced the bulbs and now they keep blowing. Sounds like the wattage is too much or the wrong kind of bulbs. That current scoreboard has served its time in my opinion, it was replaced around the turn of the millennium, time to upgrade. Maybe Coach Reed will get us a new one next year with nice bright LEDs...I like scoreboards that have the “ball on __ yardline” would be a nice option too.

Watched Mo-West play Harlan Co a few years back in 2012 in Week 0 to get a scope on what Harlan Co had. They actually played on a Saturday because Mo-West and East both played. Mo-East faced a loaded Knox Fulton team (Fulton won the 4A title that year). Very nice place to watch a game, not a fan of the bi-tone turf with one color that looks burnt, but at least they have turf. Was there early and got a good parking spot, so I can’t really speak on how the parking is for someone who doesn’t get there until late.

The decline of GC football started way before Mac could slam a ball through a hoop. The decline started when Mac was still a 5’11 sophomore that was playing football. The problem isn’t that the talent has disappeared from GC. But that the talent is playing other sports. I do agree with that. Some kids on those basketball, soccer, and baseball teams could help the football team out. But they don’t want to play for the coach and focus on a single sport. The world of single sport athletes has taken over and swva as a whole is feeling that. Mac, Zac, Dean, and Compton (all 4 will be playing D1 basketball and baseball) would of helped on the football field. 10-15 years ago, those kids would’ve played football too. It’s just changed, a kid has a shot at a free education through their primary sport, hard to blame them for that.

Until a highway is built from both sides of the county to meet in the Midway area, you can forget consolidation. Scott Co is too spread out with very bad travel routes. And like someone said, you don’t consolidate because of football.

Come on now guys. When it comes to playing from behind, Akers is an expert. You shouldn’t question his decisions when GC is down big...

The T-Formation will forever be my favorite formation. It’s all I knew until Middle School ball until we started building off of it and ran some Power-I. The Chicago Bears lined up in the T a couple weeks ago vs Green Bay and I got extremely excited, like a fan girl. Every formation has its place. I think teams are better off mixing in everything they can mix in. Anything to keep defenses guessing. But there was nothing like the opponent knowing where the ball was going, but still couldn’t stop it. I’ll never forget guys from PV pointing to where the ball was going and we would still rip off 5-6 yards at a time. I hope GC can get back to the days of taking pride in the 3 yards and a cloud of dust days out of the T. At least you all in BSG still have that. The secret to running the T is having a defense that can get off the field and force turnovers. Hard to play catch-up out of, but if you have a good defense, you can eat the opposing teams dreams alive.

Going for the 2pt conversion straight up or are we going to fake the XP? Or TD no XP, then get a safety? I’m interested here. And I could probably guess which “coach” that is.
