  1. Ok @UVAObserver maybe it is AB coming to Graham. He's the only person I know that would cause this much drama. Graham could go 9-1 without Lester and now Graham is getting a new transfer that's being kept top secret. Lol
  2. Oh ok. I really didn't think that romance with Bill would last very long. Tony is a diehard Steelers fan so AB will have to humble himself or he'll find himself transferring to Richlands.
  3. "High power"??????? Must be someone different than what has been in the rumor mill already.
  4. If my comment come across as though I was knocking these kids and their families for transferring to Graham that wasn't my intent.
  5. To me the biggest impact player on defense is Edwards. The kid is all over the field making tackles. Without the transfers Graham's defense would not be what it is. I don't count Lester as a transfer. Edwards, Ray, and Atkins all three make a big impact not only on defense but offense too. What kid that is standing on the sideline now could come in and make an impact the same way each of those 3 do? I don't know of any myself. I'm not saying Graham wouldn't be good but those 3 help tremendously.
  6. There is no doubt in my mind that Union will be up to the task in a couple of weeks in Bluefield.
  7. The heart of Graham's defense is the line and most certainly the linebacker play of Kastner and Edwards. The secondary still has some work to do. Tazewell has the ability like Bluefield to break a 60 yard TD run. Nothing will breaks a team's will more than holding a team to 3rd and 10 only to have a big run for a TD. Tazewell has that kind of speed. Wimmer stepped up at Nose the other night and played well. Tazewell ran all over Graham last year in the middle while Raley was out. This has all the makings of a great contest. If Tazewell can pull this one out then I'll say they have matured and are playing at the level they should be playing. Honestly given their age and ability they shouldn't be "hoping" for wins each week. They have what it takes to do it.
  8. Graham and Bluefield both obviously have some work to do. If I'm Palmer, I don't if I would even want to watch the film. I honestly thought he had a good game plan. Unfortunately the execution wasn't quite up to par. Too many missed opportunities. Defensively Graham does have some issues with DE's and the secondary. Bluefield did play pretty sloppy. Some of that could have been due to Graham and/or focus due to the events surrounding the team. Bluefield couldnt seem to sustain a drive. It was either a 80 yard touchdown or nothing it seemed. All in all I thought it was a very good hard fought contest. Officiating...........was pretty sloppy as well. First game of the season for everyone!! Lol
  9. Tomorrow night's edition of the Graham/Beaver game will definitely begin with heavy hearts. The Jr's and Sr's for Graham team will be some of the last kids that were coached in little league by the late David Bailey(Chargers), the late Dustin Gray(Chargers), the late James Proffit (Lil G's), Tom Wimmer, and Kevin Meadows. I hope this group of kids realize how fortunate they were to have these coaches and their assistants in little league to help start a strong foundation for such a great sport. Tony and his staff have done a great job in continuing the learning process. On the other side of the state line, Tony Webster has spent years coaching and mentoring the youth. After tragically losing his son he has continued to coach. Tomorrow night he will take the same field once again on what would have been Lil Tony's senior year. He spent countless hours with his son and so many other kids coaching the game of football. Can't help but to have a tremendous amount of respect for his dedication. Good luck to all of our area teams. Hopefully this will be an injury free contest and a good game. Let's get it Gmen!
  10. I really think Graham's defense will be fine for the year. The offense will come together as the year goes on. Offensive line play will be the sticking point as many have said. Chris Austin has done a great job in previous years of getting each group better as the year progresses. This group will improve as well. We'll all need to have some patience with the offense. We lost Cam and Lester doesn't have a Lester type receiver that will demand a double coverage. I'm sure the two scrimmages we had Tony showed very little as far as plays. Defensively I'm anxious to see how this group responds to a passing team. Losing Cam was obviously huge. We now have 3 new players that are in the secondary.
  11. Aaron Edwards from Graham in my opinion is one of the best defensive players in our area. He brings a lot of energy to Graham's defense and has a heck of a nose for the ball. Fun to watch if you like old school football.
  12. The new field at River View HS in Bradshaw is looking pretty good. I have a picture of it but can't seem to get it to load. If I'm not mistaken Mount View is getting new turf as well.
  13. Those are two really good plays. Was the cart used to carry Mance's manhood off the field after that 2pt conversion call?
  14. I'm just glad yall have found the football thread again!!!!
  15. Congratulations to Grundy on another title. There are not many teams that can give you a butt whoopin like they do and leave you feeling good about it. The kids, coaches, and fans are a class act. Congrats to Caleb and Justin Fritz from Graham. Very happy for both of them and their coach. Keith Carbaugh from Graham also had a good tournament finishing 4th. Our end of the state was represented very well.
  16. The morning of the state championship game many people gathered behind the high school to show support for the team. Among them was Tony with his infectious smile. He made the trip to Salem to support Graham. After the game he was on the field living it up with his friends celebrating the Graham win. Had he not been wearing a Beaver jacket one would have thought he was a Graham Gman like everyone else. When Graham played at Giles this year, there he was supporting Graham again. I hope Bluefield will retire the #5 in his honor. Whoever the fortunate person is that received his heart, you got yourself a heart of a champion.
  17. Great family. His dad has contributed to the youth in our for several years. You don't find many selfless people like them today.
  18. Folks if you don't mind say a prayer for Tony Webster from Bluefield. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as well. This fine young man and his family could certainly use them right now.
  19. I'm just glad Graham won. It would really suck to be stuck in the house on a snow day completely butt hurt from losing. Lol
  20. Confused? They were lost as last year's Easter egg on a few occasions. What exactly did they call on the punt that we had to do over?
  21. Nobody can ever doubt the love for the game of football our region has. Kids from several area schools made the trip to Salem today to support Graham. The posters of this message board have been quite frankly, kick ass. Thanks for the support. Can't say that enough. It feels good to have that championship brought back to our end of the state. To our kids, TAKE IT ALL IN. Enjoy the moment. We are all very proud of you and all the coaching staff.
  22. That defense got nasty as the season progressed. Gotta give it to the coaches they just kept plugging away at it. Very physical group. Cam brought the heat several times tonight. Kastner and Edwards played their usual game, lights out. The unsung hero of the defense has to be Raley. I don't know if you can find a more hard nosed kid.
