  1. I don't blame them. It's a long haul from Tannersville to Tazewell on a bus. When and if they do combine schools I'd like to see them build a new one there at that "Bluestone Technology Park". As of now the county has spent a pile of money for a walking track. Unfortunately that hasn't developed like we would've liked.
  2. I would hate to be one of those kids that lives in Tannersville or Burkes Garden and have to ride the bus to Bluefield. On a side note. Rumor is this is the last year of middle school sports. Supposedly next year 8th and 9th grade will be JV in Tazewell County. Has anyone else heard this? I know it was talked of before this year started but was shot down.
  3. I think we'll be able to contain them enough to win this one. Not saying they won't break a couple. My biggest concern with our defense is our corners. When we face a team that can throw the ball well, like Richlands, I can see that getting ugly fast.
  4. I hate to hear Collier will be out. Hopefully he will be able to come back to play some for his senior season. I don't mean any disrespect to him but I don't think the outcome of the game against Richlands will be affected by his absence. Richlands will have too many weapons Friday night. If the stay healthy I believe they will have a really good football season.
  5. That's pretty impressive Ryan. Those kids will be able to learn a lot from this. I believe it was Galax that Graham played last year that had similar technology. Sixcat may be able to elaborate more on it. To the best of my memory(which isn't very good) Galax had a camera set up outside the endzone, that sent feed up to the coaches in the box. They didn't have the ability to view the footage on the sideline like you're speaking of. That's pretty impressive.
  6. Glenvar had a couple really nice receptions against GC along the sideline. One handed grabs.
  7. I agree. Neither team this evening showed much in the passing department. But what they did do seem to complete passes the few they did throw. I was really pleased with their ability to stop the run. Now, will be they be able to shut down Collier and Reed? We'll find out next Friday. It can't get here soon enough!!
  8. What grade is "Truck" in this year? I'll be pulling for Graham next Friday but watching a strong running fullback is always fun. I remember Marcus Lattimore (spelling) who played on the '89 Graham team. He was a beast. Watching Richlands run the spread and throw the ball is good to watch but it's good to see the game hasn't completely ditched good fullbacks.
  9. Unfortunately falconfan1 the number of kids playing has drastically decreased in the 7 or 8 years I've helped with little league. There are other options for kids in the fall now that "don't have the risk of getting injured". Fall baseball, fall soccer, fall basket weaving etc. As the numbers decline you obviously have fewer teams therefore you have to travel to get competition. It does seem to some extent the game is under attack. At this level it seems the amount of drama and/or "Daddy Ball" will sometimes turn kids away until MS or HS. The Big Blue Bash that Richlands puts on in November is a great tournament that is very well organized. I hope next year that Tazewell and Graham both if they choose to do so will be able to join the Richlands league. Good competition. By the way your Falcons have done very well in the Big Blue Bash each year going against some good competition!!
  10. This may be somewhat of a sore subject for some Ryan. Richlands has asked Tazewell and Graham both to join their league last year and this year. So they both agreed to join this year. They notified the teams that were currently in their league of the move. Then Richlands voted it down!! Basically hung them out. Both of these teams joined a West Virginia league. Traveling to Princeton and Peterstown for games.
  11. Supposedly Israel Harris from Graham transferred to Tazewell.
  12. It's a pretty tough environment at Mt. View for kids to succeed in to say the least. From my understanding if you make it through the day without being in an altercation of any kind you've had a great day. The most recent consolidation of Iaeger and Big Creek saw a little success initially but that has slowly disappeared. I will say the amount of community support the now River View HS gets is second to none. It's actually pretty impressive.
  13. Hey sixcat for the well being of those running the chains I hope Galax never returns to Mitchell!!! I felt like I had run a marathon after last year. Fortunately I wasn't chasing Peoples up and down the field 3 years ago.
  14. I wasn't aware Graham was having a hard time completing a schedule????
  15. I had the opportunity of working the chains last year for the Graham and Galax game. I would put Dixon right there with Williams from Giles. He was very intense!! It was obvious those kids would run through a brick wall for him. The kids in Galax are very fortunate to play for a coach of his caliber. First class individual.
  16. From my understanding he coached Smurf football a couple years and was an assistant at the Peewee level last year. That's all I know about him. I'm not convinced the MS is doing Tony any favors getting these kids ready for HS.
  17. Jason Roberts was selected to be the middle school coach.
  18. How is the Richlands and Abingdon game #13? I'm assuming this is the PC list. Trying to be nice to everyone.
  19. I don't know how many Graham is expecting to come out. I know our MS team is probably about half of what it was to begin with last year. 17 or 18 kids right now.
  20. I still think having Bryce Wade in the backfield lined up in the "I" formation with Blankenship last year would've been brutal. Not saying I would've done it all the time.
  21. Good video!! That defense was impressive.
  22. Graham has the weapons to to go far. Cooke, Ballard, Allen, Meade should be hard to deal with. Oh yeah the Cousin kid too. This group of Graham Gmen should be fun to watch. I for one can't wait to watch them take the field.
  23. With the line Richlands will have this year finding a running back shouldn't be an issue.
