1 plus 1 sometimes don't =1 great school.The first year at Union we should have done a lot better but there was an adjustment period, we have improved every year and hope to continue that this year.Union high school didn't keep any of the shiny things from the past from APPALACHIA ORPOWELL VALLEY.The only thing that was kept was the slogan UNITED TOGATHER WE STAND ,DEVIDED WE FALL.Ridgeveiw has the talent(girls state champs)they have the great field, but something is missing, coach MULLINS is a good coach but they haven't turned that corner yet.I just wonder how many kids from HAYSI are walking the halls instead of playing?Mullins may be doing all he can ,but I would reach out to A.D. COLLEY and BEG for his advice and help

Same thing happened to Battle a few weeks ago. They had the t-shirt controversy and weren't allowed to pray over the PA system, but a group of people brought big speakers and they prayed through that instead of the PA system!

Sick of one or two people being able to control the majority, if they dont want to hear a prayer to keep these players safe and honer God they can stick their heads back up their butts until its over. Most if not all football teams in this area have prayer before and after the game. If it's not complaints over a flag then it's a prayer that causes issues. Geez people!

I have noticed over the years watching some Tazewell baseball games that the team will pray before the game and after the game they will ask the opposing team to join them around the mound for a word of encouragement and prayer. God allows these young mean to do what they love to do.

Some group of whackos have been sending out letters to School Boards requesting that teams stop having prayer before games.  They can't say anything about it, if the kids lead the prayer and it's not directed by coaches or other school officials.  Looks like these people could find something else to complain about.

It happened.  I've seen the pics.  I would share them here, but like I said, some of the graffiti was PG-13 at best.  Think DX from WWE back in the day and you can draw your own conclusions about what some of the messages said...

So Twin Springs takes Burton into OT, Burton loses to Chilhowie by one , 33-32. Chilhowie has proven to be a pretty good team by beating Tazwell and VA High and crushes Twin Springs. I know its all about matchups and how a team plays in certain weeks but just getting some thoughts and throwing a few things out there. Castlewood plays TS this friday for TS home coming, whats the thoughts on this matchup and the Cumberland? Right now Burton looks like the top dog but if Cwood was to blow out the team that took Burton to OT it could make this district pretty interesting. And please I understand these teams are not Union or Gatecity just talking football for what these teams are.

Criticizing someone over a small factual error when you write like a high school dropout would be quite rich if you didn't do it week upon week, month upon month.

These schools have definitely become big rivals and hate is probably not even to strong of a word here, it use to be Cwood and the team across the river , St.Paul. but since the closing of SP and even before TS and Cwood started getting pretty heated. I believe Cwood will take this one but its gonna be a battle thats forsure.
