I discovered the site around 2003. I lurked but never joined until years later.
There was some member way back that had a clip that’d play every time you clicked on his post. I remember it saying “It’s good to be king” with a short snippet of Ahmad Bradshaw,IINM

Looks like Tazewell is catching all the TD passes they dropped last week at Marion.

Hurricane Stadium's football/baseball field is notorious for its lack of drainage. I'd guess it's a thin layer of compacted topsoil atop a former hardpan river bottom. Anytime it rains, the stormwater will pond for days. A late fall rainy spell coupled with heavily-damaged turf turned the field into a quagmire for the Graham game. It's the worst field conditions I've ever seen. I used to have a pic, but it didn't transfer to my new phone.
-
It sounds like Jenkins' stadium could host a VHSL State Semi -Final.
-
NaugistBigsby (to Dook): "It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again."
-
I attempted to translate Dook's post. Not to brag, but I'm somewhat fluent in backwoods gibberish of the mentally challenged. The last sentence was confusing, until I remembered Poca sits in the shadow of an AEP power plant.
Just'n wunt to applegize. Eye m coatchin one mo time. Up'n her n Poker. Eye m a DOT . SEW kew! Dook iz sew koo. Bye da wave! Unk Vern teared up, dat 70 sum figurez aloud. 1 mo ting. Dots R powr waze inning a sintcents!
Just want to apologize. I'm coaching one more time. Up here in Poca. I'm a DOT. So Cool. Dook is so cool. Bye Wave! Uncle Vern teared up, that 70-some figure allowed. One more thing. Dots are power waves in a sense.

Good point. I originally considered Union '15 and left them off because of the blowout to Clarke Co.. However, I hadn't taken into account that they beat Richlands, so I've added them.

Good point, guys, they'd approve Blacksburg.
I'd just hope that VHSL would learn from the Galax '17 semi-final, which was far from ideal. The Maroon Tide's stadium is a nice facility, but the capacity is listed at just 1,400, which is actually 200 less than their gym. GHS did bring in temporary bleachers, but many, including some elderly, were forced to stand. The Chilhowie band also stood the entire game on the track.
-
I wonder if Blacksburg's stadium could possibly be deemed too small. The VHSL Directory doesn't give that stadium's capacity, but Christiansburg's is listed at just 3,500, and has noticeably more seating. Kenneth Dobson (Pulaski Co) is listed at 10,000. If playing surface is a factor, PC's is the only one that's natural.

The VHSL Handbook (27-2-5) requires that prior to the first practice for all coaches of VHSL fall, winter and spring sports teams, these individuals must take a recognized course providing both education and prevention regarding concussion as it relates to high school activities. The VHSL further strongly recommends that all participants and parents/guardians take advantage of the NFHS’s online video, “Concussion in Sports, What You Need to Know” to learn about the signs, symptoms and treatment of concussions. The video takes approximately 15 minutes and is FREE. To access the video go to nfhslearn.com.
Suggested Concussion Management:
No athlete should return to play (RTP) or practice on the same day of a concussion.
Any athlete suspected of having a concussion should be evaluated by an appropriate health-care professional that day.
Any athlete with a concussion should be medically cleared by an appropriate health-care professional prior to resuming participation in any practice or competition.
After medical clearance, RTP should follow a step-wise protocol with provisions for delayed RTP based upon return of any signs or symptoms.
