So, KS’s great accomplishment is beating PV one time. Your final two sentences are so stupid that thousands of viewers are now questioning your intelligence, but you probably grew accustomed to that years ago. Go. Sit. Down.

Just because you can’t follow the sarcasm, don’t get mad big guy. Go get a banana and maybe google some of the sarcasm. Maybe one day you will be taken seriously by the “thousands” of viewers on the board Rock. Perhaps you should try standing when you talk like most men do instead of stirring.

Cant we all just have fun. You must be crushing hard on Reed😂

Notice how none of those sterling accomplishments came AT WISE. Do you remember the GC offense that turned Gretna’s defense into a smoking black hole on their way to the state title? That OC’s name was Darren Reed. If WINNING hurts then Darren Reed is having blue balls while passing a kidney stone. And wtf is punt football? Go sit down.

Auto correct got me. Pnut football since you can’t figure it out sir. Saunders only stopped the PV win streak while at Kelly. As for his moral compass, I can’t speak on.

I love how how you mention the GC defense shredding gretna then mention that reed was the OC. So does that mean the waterboy should get credit for any tackles made by a well hydrated LB?

    Mic drop!

The guy from Gretna that we blasted for the 2010 chip? What’s he ever won?

He won a title at Gretna. Coaching in Atlanta area no making six figures. I guess Reed is a better coach than him too though😂. Reed is a program killer dude. Move on from him. You would make a better coach. And I wouldn’t let you coach pnut football.

The SWD being unexpectedly bottom-heavy torpedoed Graham’s SOS.  Can’t really avoid Lebanon, Marion, Tazewell, VHS.  Richlands was down in comparison to what Richlands usually is.  Giles had their worst season in 31 years, so that’s not fair to pin on Graham.  Even so, Central and Fort Chiswell were 2A playoff teams.

The only two I really have issue with are Princeton and Central.  Princeton especially is a point anchor.  Could have easily picked up another school to avoid that point hemorrhage.

Same could be said about the Mountain 7 with Gate City collapsing. Who you pick up out of district really helps down the road. Richlands, Giles and Union got the memo. No eastsides or Princetons on their schedule. Central was 4-6 this year. Best record they’ve had in years. Not sure who graham dropped next year, but they did pick up Union. Respect. Union dropped Morristown west. Picked up science Hill. Big set on Turner!

I’m a bit hesitant about having this conversation solely by records alone. Especially with for example a 5-6 LCC, or an 11-3 Shelby Valley. Etc. I don’t think those are very good teams in Virginia 2A competition. On the contrary, a 3-7 Morristown West team, even though they are down in comparison to their classification, would do very well up here.

I’ll even go on the defensive some. 1988 Jonesville Va goes 5-5. Goes on to win the Group 1A state title. Beating undefeated teams along the way. The very next year, Appalachia Va does the exact same thing.

That being said, those are the exceptions to the rule. Not all sub 500 teams are gonna battle test you for the playoffs. Most do not. I respect Giles and Richlands. Brutal schedules. Not worried about going 9-1 or 10-0. Battle tested. Tip of the cap!

  6. Richlands schedule (no playoff games included)

    Gate City 1-9

    Union 8-2

    blacksburg 10-0

    byrd 7-3

    bluefield 9-1

    tazewell 2-8

    marion 4-6

    graham 9-1

    lebanon 2-8

    VHS 5-5

    57-43 record

Their strength of schedule is never in question!

  7. High school programs should not be playing on turf anyway. Play on natural surface until college. I prefer natural turf. I get that the upkeep is quick and simple with turf. And many programs have been blessed with it. But seems like it’s making people lose their mind if they have to play a big game on less than turf conditions.

I find that incredibly hard to believe. If a college wants to recruit a kid, they talk to that kid. Yes they approach the coach to get a better understanding of the player and yes coaches have been known to badmouth some players at times, but I've never heard of a scholarship being given to the coach to give to a player. If a college wants to offer a kid a scholarship, they get in touch with the kid and make sure the player receives a LOI. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm simply stating that's not how things work 99% of the time.

Not here to argue it. I may have some details skewed. But the short story is jimbo withheld info from the kid keeping this kid from having a Chance from going to this university. Chose to believe or not. Your choice. Not the point on the thread. Don’t care who believes it or not. I do. I trust this family. If you don’t, that’s cool. I get it. I still will pull against burton unless they make it out of the region. Then I will pull for them. You pull for your local teams on the state level.

I've never know a college in my life to send a scholarship offer to a high school coach. How does that work?

Don’t quote me on the exacts. The coach pulled up on the player and his mom at a game his freshmen year and told them he contacted jumbo wanting this kid at their school. Jumbo never did his part. I wasn’t there. The players mother was telling us. Very good people and wouldn’t take them as liars.

So again, I’m telling it as it was told to me. Not pretending to have been there or have first hand knowledge. And if we are being real...I didn’t like Adams way before that anyway. I don’t need a reason. Already had one haha.  It there are good kids on that team and I hope they have a great game.

  10. Nope. No mad pal. If we all liked the same team, what fun would game day be😂. Jumbo witheld scholarship offers from a former player of his. The kid didn’t find out until he played against the team that sent the offer to jimbo but never was given to the kid. The guy is a prick. Too worried about making his own kid look good at better players expense. And if ur a true jib fan, you already know this. Not hating, just spitting the truth. Once again, I’m hoping for a clean and injury free game.

If that happens that game will feature the best athletes that SWVA has seen on the same field in while. Lester is a pure football that makes plays where ever he is on the field. Allen is a D1 talent on defense that throws the ball some. The two headed monster that ridgeview has in the backfield is also good I still give the nod to graham on this one mostly because of what those 2 guys are able to do on both sides of the ball.

Still think last years Union/graham game had more talent than a Ridgeview/graham matchup would. Not even close if we are being real. Graham lost the Cooke speedster. Union lost Mitchell, Owens, Stidham and Qualls just to name a few. All had multiple offers. Not on the level of VT or Michigan St (isn’t that where Cooke landed?). My point is, this area, SwVA has seen a nice bit of talent in bulk recently. Throw in mcclung from gate city to the mix just to sweeten the pot.

  12. PH wins. Coach vs coach. Palmer wins that hands down. He’s a better coach than Adams thinks himself to be. Plus, I can’t stand jv burton (no, that’s not a typo lol). On a serious note, with PH pounding the rock, makes it hard for Thacker to be on the field throwing it around a lot.

  13. Cam Allen can scramble. Thanks to the graham fan that posted the highlight link to last weeks game. He’s got wheels. If Union wants to win, ball control offense and discipline on defense. Gotta stay in their lanes. Otherwise he may slice thru them on scrambles.

They were picked as the preseason favorite for the M7 by many on this board, and plenty of us called them being the 1 seed in 2D. To me, they are exactly what I thought they’d be.

I went back and looked at the preseason poll that I bases this off of. My mistake. The pack was ranked 13. But then I saw who’s poll it was. Same goober that you went sideways on for trying to throw mud on the loss of the Johnson man. I still think Mullins is a solid option for COY however.

Hammertime - Graham will not only have the best 3 players on the field but probably the best 6 or 7.  You may not recall but Devin Lester had turf toe and a broke hand at last year’s game.  Cam Allen you know that Perdue Commit he’s the real deal he the closest thing you’ll see to your James Mitchell caliber player.

Is this the same Cam Allen that did NOTHING last year. What about the fastest guy on the field last year. I think he wore #5?  He had like three catches for maybe 20ish yards. Lester was on that team last year too. A lot of the Union players were on the team last year too and played. I guess that 37-0 spanking didn’t happen. I forgot y’all had the fastest and best players on the field last year too.

Man stop with that tired crap. Until y’all show it, stop saying it. I’m starting to think that maybe tazewell county fast maybe isn’t as fast as Wise county fast. Just an observation pal. No hard feelings.

I believe it's still Bear hunting season in our great state. 😂 Maybe GMen will bag one if not, y'all might be having some Graham cracker smores by your fire pit to celebrate after the game.

Glad to see some folks can enjoy the fun and play along.
