Of course you don’t tell you JV try not to score no body said that. But when you are up +35 with a running clock and less than a minute on the clock out your starters back in let them get in victory formation and take a knee
-
Great performance in week one by Battle but 2 of those weeks to prepare where spent not practicing. Any kind of football shape they were in is most likely gone and with less than 20 guys that could get rough Gate City seems to be figuring some stuff out on offense would love to see an unset just to shake things up a little and Central could be over confident Abingdon is pretty good Lee could be in for a long one.

You are right I have seen plenty of games get out of hand and some teams let off the gas and other push it to the floor. In Tazewells case they dont have a JV and havnt for a few years now mostly because this group of seniors have been playing varsity since their freshman year and in the back end of a blowout is the only way to get reps I get that. If they only have 8 lineman and 4 are gone after this season I would tread lightly for sure. If the 2's score running the football that is fine you have to stop that if you are the other team I get that but IMO (obliviously it not a very popular one but whatever) If you got the ball at the end of the game and you can go into victory formation then do it.

Maybe that is why Harris feels the need to run it up who knows. I was always coached up to win with class...

Up by 40??? you take a knee. Graham and Richlands kneel out the clock in that same situation every time
-
The back ups played the whole 4th quarter. With a running clock under a minute just take a knee but a run play is better than throwing a bomb to the Jordan kid with 2 minutes left like what happened last year.

fair enough but why not get in victory formation at the end of the game?

Marion is young and this is the best Tazewell team I have seen. They have athletes just not a the caliber of Tazewell county I will be the first to admit that. They have a lot of kids either playing for the first time or playing a new position for the first time and with very little offseason that that tough. Marion looked pretty good for the first 5 quarters of football they played but lost some confidence once Tazewell started clicking. Then again its hard to have any confidence with very little community support. They will figure it out trust me this is a great group of kids that work their tails off. At least if Graham gets up big they will slow the game down and put the 2's in and run the ball and take a knee with 40 seconds left in the game instead of running another play with 3 starting lineman in their against a bunch of JV guys..

In the past I would say that Richlands has a MAJOR coaching advantage over Tazewell when Mance was at the helm. Thad Wells is also a hell of a coach so I think the coaching advantage still goes to Richlands but not as much as before IMO. Mance always did a good job of taking away what you do best and making you beat them with your second option. They were not able to do that against Graham and Bradshaw. I do not believe Tazewell has anyone as talented as Bradshaw but they do have more threats. 1,2,3, and 4 are all really good football players and it is hard to key in on just one. Tazewell was all over the place as far as lining up defensively against Marion who runs normal spread sets. Richland's base offense is tackle over with a lot of motion and crazy formations. IF Richlands can take advantage of an Tazewell not lining up right I could be a long night for the dawgs. This is a toss up game I believe Tazewell is the more talented team but it will all boil down to if their athleticism can make up for their undisciplined play.

I would take Richlands -7 all day long

Why not? You know J’me we run it up in a heartbeat

I completely understand on the football town part there is very few of them left and those are your teams that always do well because it still means something to put on that hometown helmet. I hope he heals up for his senior year he is a special. If he was a little bigger or had some hogs up front to open some holes he would be in conversation for best player in the region hands down.

That kid is a game changer. I know they do not have much around him and he may have lost a step from last year because of the knee but he is the type of kid that you couldn't tackle in a phone booth.
-
Is that running back VA high had last year recovered from that knee injury yet?
-
CDC says 10 days so depending when they got shut down. I would say they are going to miss next week for sure and after that they will have to get ready on a very short week
-
Pulaski has an idea on how to get around the 250 limitation.

That my be the smartest solution I have seen to this point good for them -
I guess Marion is better than that ‘01 battle team 🤔

Just about every game played this week is going to come down to 3 things 1. Execution: There is no film study this year so game planning is tough this year. You can watch the film from last year (I know the Richlands regime from years past was big into that), but you are still looking at players that may not be there. Which ever team can execute the bread and butter plays against what I am going to assume will be pretty vanilla defenses have the edge. 2. Conditioning: Which ever teams studs spend less time on the side line are going to have a big advantage. 3 weeks is not enough time to get into football shape and that all a lot of teams had. Hell usually the 5 weeks you have in a normal season is pushing it. 3. Want to: It is going to be cold and or wet in most of these games. Which ever team handles that the best and plays the hardest will win. Just my opinion but what do yall think?
-
I know that is you type of offense man I hate that in person isn’t a thing this year
-
IMO discipline has been the Achilles heal for Tazewell over the last 5 years. I would say more times than not they equal or better than most teams they play from a talent aspect. But between the ears they get beat. Maybe that changes this year idk that’s just what I’ve seen.

I don’t know how far this mount Rodger health department covers but if you are in that area don’t get your hopes up the absolute hate sports for some reason I don’t see them opening up the stands
