  1. How long has it been since Princeton beat Bluefield? Did ANYONE see this coming? Looking forward to the game with Pulaski. Pulaski had a great showing this week. You can't get any better than Dixon at the helm. If Bluefield can't pull out a win, how long since they lost two in row? I wonder if they had key players out for Covid or something.
  2. Good luck to Coach Wells, sucks for the team and him the way it all came out but such is life. Learn and move on!
  3. I think the bottom line is that Richlands voted for the change and now they want to undo the unanimous vote. I don't think the VHSL will even entertain the appeal knowing Richlands voted for the change but now don't like it because they don't benefit from it.
  4. Richlands' principal voted for the changes. Any appeal by Richlands is ultimately moot. It should be a done deal. Union goes to playoffs, Richlands does not. The end.
  5. This is a season like no other. I think nothing was ever really clear from Region D from the get go. Probably like most things around this whole Covid mess, they were trying the best to please everyone which is impossible. The stance evolved as season progressed and the SWD as a whole wasn't in agreement with the M7 as to how to do things. It's a short season, every game has to count, period in one way or another. Best thing, everyone pull up their big boy underwear, finish out the season and then focus on next year. We all hope and pray it's a normal season and we don't have to go through this again. Good luck to the teams advancing! The ones not advancing, this is a character defining moment. You can let it define you or you can rise above it. Carry on, friends!
  6. No offense to anyone because I am by no means an expert nor do I claim to be. Graham has a first class coaching staff but I really have to question several of the decisions tonight at least on the offensive side of the ball. Graham could have prevented an OT in my opinion on a couple different occasions but as I said, I am no expert.
  7. I believe that in the M7, the games with Abingdon do not count now and in the SWD, that neither the first Graham/Richlands game nor the Tazewell/RIverheads game count towards points. The regional final will be held at a neutral site. (So says my source from what was decided today).
  8. Are there any schools in SWVA that have not started conditioning? I think today was Tazewell County's first day. I know Bland has been at it since June 22nd. I'm hoping they have enough to make a team this year and get to play a few games.
  9. Bland County submitted paperwork on Thursday; conference calls on Friday with coaches; starting this upcoming week I was told. Really strict guidelines and restrictions.
  10. Try opening the door next time, lol
  11. Big difference between being banged up and injured. Banged up, you play and injured you don't . Banged up to me means you're not at 100% which doesn't constitute a hang nail. You cannot compare an NFL player to a high school football player.
  12. I never said they weren't going to play, you're inferring (or others are inferring) something that's not there. Banged up simply means banged up. There tends to be a fair amount of stupidity these days for sure, lol.
  13. From what I'm hearing there are 4 or 5 really banged up. Graham may be in the same boat as Union having key players banged up.
  14. Going back and reading last year's thread on this same game, a lot of people had Richlands winning because Graham had not performed up to expectations. That was the game Graham really kicked it into high gear and everything seemed to click offensively and defensively. Hoping the GMen seize the opportunity this Friday and perform to their potential. If they do, it won't be a barn burner.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised it GW kept it close most of the game but Galax probably pulls away late 3rd or 4thQ. GW QB is very fun to watch. He's got some speed.
  16. Pulaski Co. James River Radford Union Gate City Ridgeview Graham Castlewood Richlands Bluefield l Narrows Grundy Hurley Thomas Walker Eastside Unaka, TN Chilhowie Holston Florida Atlantic Oklahoma Washington Duke North Carolina Utah Penn St. Alabama Jacksonville Houston New York Giants Seattle Philadelphia GotW Galax-54
  17. Way to keep it classy (insert eye roll emoji and sarcasm font)
  18. Ronnie Davis , his defensive coordinator. He's got a state championship for softball under his belt already.
  19. It was such a kind gesture towards our band. They even played at a Bluefield College game. I hope other area schools will invite them to perform.
  20. Sounds like Princeton coach needs to get his players under control. If he's perpetuating or allowing this behavior, perhaps someone needs to take him to task.
  21. My advice “Build a Bridge, Get Over It” , “Let it Go”, “Move On” & whatever phrases one can muster. It’s over, bad call, almost any team can argue a bad call at some point or another. 2003 was a game costing call , Friday night, wasn’t. Teams can’t always use refs as an excuse for losing. Sometimes the other team is just better. Refs are human, some are probably are not unbiased as they should be. It’s unfortunate when that happens. Richlands needs to focus on Radford this Friday and put Bluefield behind them. The season must go on....best of luck Blues. I really think Blues can beat Radford or at least make it barn burner.
  22. Then my initial reaction to it being a bad call would be correct.
  23. I was there and thought it was a bad call at the time but if #5 was directly behind Forest then I’m like you it’s a valid procedure violation. The photo doesn’t clearly show #5 to the left. It would be great to have an aerial photo but I guess we all can just armchair ref the call. Either way, that call did not cost Richlands the game. They played hard but Bluefield is just on another level and they had some key players out.
