They should try to get Richie Thomas back. Not sure if he would be interested, but he retired from Wythe County last year. He had some success there in the 90s, and it's his alma mater. Worth a shot.
Ritchie Thomas had success playing Marion, VA High, Abingdon, Haysi, Coeburn, George WYthe, et........I would love to see what he would do with the schedule Ph plays now.
GW can not spot Galax 14 like they did Narrows. GW has a good team and a lot of speed. They could have blocked 3 punts VS Narrows, and special teams are big this week.
Fort Chiswell has had 5 coaches in 7 seasons. Not a conducive environment for developing consistency with that level of turnover from program leadership.
At least spell his name right. He's forgotten more football than most know.
I know his name, and how to spell it..........he had great players, and great future head coach assistants at every stop of his cussing, racial career. Ask around pal.......
Let's not forget that a lot of Richland's success in those years 2004 to 2015 is owed not only to Coach Mance but also Dennis Palmer, the defensive coordinator for Richlands during those years. I'm not taking anything away from Mance, he's a coaching legend in SWVA but when you think of Richlands as a powerhouse, one usually thinks of their defensive prowess. Palmer crafted one of the best consistent defenses in the state while there. Rex Bradshaw & Palmer did the same thing last year, by midseason, the were solid as any I've seen recently. It wasn't the defense that cost the Blues a couple additional state championships but it sure helped Graham win another one.
Dennis"Snake" Palmer is one of, if not, the best defensive coordinators in the region. Is he on Grahams staff?
I heard Bluefield's offense looked bad, but it's early yet. The Offensive line played particularly poorly is what I was told. Was I told correctly?
Pretty accurate...I was looking forward to seeing the RB and DB play from Bluefield as I know they are being recruited/committed to D-I programs. Just didn't see that potential today, however I'm sure they have what it takes. The DE is def has a D-I body and played with great effort, IMO. I should also note that Pulaski County is pretty good and I will bet anyone here a soda pop that Lord Bottletop beats Bluefield by 20!
Hearing Bluefields defense looked sharp today, but the offense struggled. Problems on the O-line and inconsistency with the passing. Sounded very similar to how Graham performed.
If Beaver has all of those D-l players as mentioned here, then they must have missed the bus. The DE is a good looking kid and plays hard......Pulaski County controlled the game from start to finish.
Isn't the Principal's brother the basketball and baseball coach? What better way to help your brother out than to hire a less adequate so that basketball and baseball do well!
hmmmmmmmmmmm I have heard this before. Most school divisions have a policy about NEPOTISM, guess Wythe County does not.

I would hope so. Cougar defense was really good last year
