  1. That's what its all about . Y'all got the GMEN at home but we have  taken care of business since then. Union has a great football tradition and its all in good fun. Graham fans enjoy the trip to Bullitt Park because of the environment is great. We would like to start having some of the games at home though. Good my luck to the Bear's!!

See this is this biggest problem on this forum. People can't even playfully critique anything or give their opinion without someone taking it WWAAYYY too personally and getting upset. You're getting all worked up and making this into some huge ordeal because some people think having a parade for winning one regular season game against a rival school is kinda silly or corny. It's a valid opinion! Just as valid as someone who thinks that it's great and the community deserves it. Both opinions equally valid and it doesn't mean you have to take personal offense to it.

EDIT-I feel like I really did try and respect that POV and try and consider it while I posted bc we've never had any issues and generally get along. But it seems like I wasn't afforded the same decorum.

You made the point about Union, some could consider that silly or corny. That's fine! To some, it probably is and I wouldn't argue that. It's a little different, but somewhat similar in premise so I can absolutely see someone feeling that way.

I was kidding, I'm not making it seem like a big deal, but in the original edit, you used the word 'pathetic'. That's a pretty strong word to use.

I don't want to send a PM because words can get twisted and people can misrepresent what is said. I'm not saying you would ever do that, tbh I don't believe you would ever do that, but I think more people should see the point Im making about people being unable to share their thoughts without someone taking it very seriously and getting offended. It's twice today it's happened just to me.

I agree!! People who get all worked up over simple post. Please act like you have been there before. Happy for the dawgs and glad to see they are doing well. Let’s hope for a great game between the GMEN and the Dawgs. Please people in SWVA, stop taking things so personal!!!! To be the man you gotta beat the man. Come Get Some!!

The great thing is that Tazewell has always had this same community support, even in the very lean years. When this senior class was starting as freshmen 4 years ago the fan base seen the potential and they were finally able to show it.

Today had been building since the missed extra point in the 08 region championship game. Obviously to the outside world this rivalry didn’t seem that important since it has been so one sided over the last 20 years but this is still the game that Tazewell fans circle at the beginning of the season. After coming so close in 2008, to the revolving door of coaches before Coach Harris, to the devastating injuries of last season, trust me when I say this win means the world to them.  The whole community got over “the hump” today. If you can’t be happy for the kids and the whole Tazewell community after being on the other end of this for so long then that says a lot about you.

I’m 100% happy for them. Just seems a little to early in the season. I do understand the    point  but the deliver can be taken out of context.

I am not in agreement with some that think Graham has a weak schedule. No doubt, Graham MUST play all other Southwest district schools. No school can control this aspect of their schedule. Additionally, no one can determine or control which district school is going to have a good year ... mediocre year ... or a disappointing year.

Graham's non-district schedule includes Bluefield WV ... Union ... Giles ... Princeton WV ... and Fort Chiswell. Bluefield and Union speak for themselves. Giles is usually a playoff contender but had a disappointing year.

Princeton is a West Virginia AAA school that has had some tough years in the past. However, Princeton is a 10-15 minute drive from Bluefield. Graham and Princeton geographically are a nice fit and the schools have rekindled a nice little rivalry in basketball.

Fort Chiswell has been up and down in the past few years. The Pioneers are the only Class 2 carry over from Graham's presence inthe Mountain Empire district.

I know playoff seedings are determined by power points. Graham determined their 3 seed by losing to Union in the regular season. Had Graham defeated Union earlier in the year, the G-Men would have finished the regular deadon at 9-1. That would have secured at least a #2 ... maybe #1 ... seed during the playoffs. Had Graham had either of these seeds ... the weak schedule conversation would have been non-existence.

Just my thoughts ... let the results silence the critics.

I can with everything you are saying. I was just responding to the one guy saying our schedule was weak. No one can control how other teams are going to play.

    Bingo!

That post ... in all its stupidity ... was the only one that really struck a nerve with me all week long! Initially, I ignored it ... electing not to get on that level ... but this morning I could not let it ride! 😉

I had a post written up and deleted it  because I didn't want to give his stupidity the satisfaction of a response. No one can help weak schedules because they are made out a few years in advance.

in all seriousness wouldn't mind seeing graham have a little tougher shedule. wouldn't mind seeing us schedule blacksburg or christiansburg. we played them a bunch in the 2000's.

The only teams they could drop would be Fort Chiswell and Princeton. All others are District games except for Bluefield and Union and you cannot fix that over night. Also the SWD is down right now and we cannot help that either. You just have to play who is on the schedule and try an work on it when you have openings.

I'm not worried about what happened over there I was explaining the situation and what they could expect Friday night. And yes we like our horns and noisemakers at least I ain't 1 of those that just comes to socialize and sit on my ass and do nothing. But let's get back to the main topic heres my pick for the game Graham 42 Union 6 not going to be pretty. Union is way 1 dimensional right now and our secondary has lost its mojo.

Wow!! I dont even seen that. The rain will slow us down a little and I really dont know what to expect. Graham is capable of a blowout but it is Union. Maybe 10-14 points at best Graham but I expect closer.

Gonna rain of the morning and afternoon of Friday is what the early forecast shows. Then rain again on Saturday

Hopefully nothing to heavy. Field was in good shape last year with all the rain so it should be good I would hope. I think it drains well.
