Reading comprehension is important. I said on both boards which includes this one. You said no one was saying that they wouldn’t compete and they was in other threads on this BOARD!!!  But thanks for letting us all know how you really feel.

Wow the butthurt is strong this one , he is always arguing with people and more times than not he is wrong. And he seems to always have back handed comments toward you for some reason. It must suck to go through life so angry all the time .
What kind of an arrogant —— do you have to be to assume that your opinion is a blanket statement for everyone on this board. There is multiple people on here who posts on both boards. The other is not as lively but there is some good info on the eastern teams and some very good posters on there.

One -Grayson superintendent is an whiny asshat that trolls people on social media and doesnt even know his schools history to speak intelligently to it on the local news channel. He threatened legal action with the basis of geography, when in fact he would still be playing the same teams throughout the year as he would still be part of the MED.

Two- ask Auburns leadership team about the bad blood between and the stunts he pulled. Especially this last vote.

My wife works for the school system and you guys have no idea what this administration is like .

So I am assuming you are speaking to the fact that he called Auburns Superintendant and had their superintendent call their  AD and told them they HAD to vote in favor of Grayson playing down! The AD for Auburn wouldn’t  do it so they just skipped the meeting all together.

As well as there is scuttlebutt that couple years ago a long term assistant coach spoke up during a game because he thought a player that took a hard hit should be in Concussion protocol and the Head coach at the time refused. When the assistant raised the red flag the week after.  Wilmore had him removed from the position.
Not a good person at all if all the rumors are true.

GW does not in any way have an athletic advantage.....I said before that  this is the best run of athletes Grayson has had in 15 years.  This was prior to some new arrivals via tranfer.  They will be a top tier program in 1A for awhile.  The Super has assembled a strong staff and has poured a ton of money into program.  The Def Coord is the best around IMO.

They got beat by GW soundly and got handed their tails to them by Galax the last two weeks of regular season . Then caught Galax looking forward to GW and now all of the sudden they are a top tier program in 1 A???   That’s just to much BS to handle on one post.

The super intendant threatend legal action to stay in 1A. Told everyone last year that coach James had never lost to coach Dixon and wouldn’t lose to coach Allen either then proceeded to get beat three times in a row.

    lol I needed that laugh

  4. Galax rattled Grayson QB early and he short armed several passes straight into the ground.First offensive pllay for Grayson Galax D line blasted two offensive lineman on their back into the QB lap.  And dominated the LOS the rest of the night.
Putting the Tucker kid in wildcat was smart move.

Galax does not always go after the QB but when they've this year they've put pressure on them. A lot of the times it depends on if it is a running QB or not whether or not they go after them. Just curious, do you watch all the Galax games or do you go around to other games that are intriguing in the area?

I am just a football fan in general. My wife works for the Grayson school system and I work in the Wythe Galax area and discuss football with my peers everyday. My wife has women study group on Fridays at the house so I vacate the premises and go to games .

Although my wife is from the area is All in on grayson , I am not originally from here . I myself enjoying watching all the teams and go to whichever match up is better that week.  Which ever I don’t attend that weekend I’ll watch on NFHS that night or later that week.

  6. Although Gillespie is by far the best athlete in graysons team and one of the main factors that they have done as well as they have this year - I agree the Vaught kid is the best player in Region 1C.

As for the game- the key will be Galax’s D line getting pressure on the QB. with Galax’s notorious slow starts , kids who don’t play with a lot of emotion and on top of that alot of kids being sick or just getting over it and missing practice all week. Graysons wins this one by two tds. The outside passing threat is to much for Galax’s DBs, and Galax has not had a pass rush all year .

  7. Grayson county will struggle to stop Galax’s run game especially with the new sets they are running and Galax will not be able to stop Grayson pass game. Grayson had two long potential TD passes dropped against GW.   GW could not contain Grayson outside receiver threat. They beat their dbs constantly all night long. the only thing that saved them is GW lived in Graysons back field and the QB just outright missed some throws.

This game will come down to coaching and who makes the least mistakes.

hmmm flipped a switch, hard to flip a switch when all you do is run power and no semblance of a passing game.  nothing against galax but you guys don't have the skilled players of past years!

After watching GW vs Galax and GW versus Grayson last night. Any given night each could beat the other. But I would give Galax the win over the other two 80% of the time.

GW Va Grayson was a good game - Grayson county dropped two long TD catches where the receiver was wide open. GW could run off tackle left all night but kept trying to be cute with other plays and kept going away from it when it was there all night.

Grundy has the best team in Region D and C.

Grundy strength - their run game is going against Galax strength which is a phenomenal front seven. And I will take Galax Oline and the Tucker kid against another run oriented team.

  10. Been on here a couple of years. I came over from the Va Preps board. I enjoy it here but they are some real smart asses on here that need a lesson in humility. Giving some one a good old fashion ribbing and hard time over their team is what makes it fun but some just take it too far. Like stating that a poster is just butthurt because he has a kid on the team etc etc. and you go back and look at a majority of their posts and it like that.  Need to end as that is why Va prep site has died because of A holes .

I think we’re starting to see the separation between Class 1 and Class 2 we’ve all known was coming. That separation between Class 1 and Class 2 right now may be as wide as the separation between Class 2 and Class 4.

Several area teams have lost a single player to injury and the lack of depth becomes immediately recognizable.

I also believe C and D were much closer than people think last season with the exception of Galax. Galax has taken a step or two backward this season so those two regions appear to be much closer now. If Galax doesn’t get the offense figured out, they aren’t making the annual trip to Salem.

You are very on point here.  Galax is wasting one of the best receivers in the state last year in 1A in a QB position in which all he is doing is handing the ball off to a running back. A running back I might add ran the ball 43 times  Friday for 280 yards.  Galax is running a power offense out of a spread formation but the line is foot to foot. So what they are trying to accomplish is beyond me. It seems to me they are just making it hard on themselves.  Grayson is running the same offense but as it was intended , with traps, counters, sweeps and short passing routes  mixed with deep shots.   The games I have watched of them the kids are playing their balls off only to have the coaches failing them by making things unerringly hard.

The RED TEAM  will be waiting for a "  G " team in Salem !

You know the sad part about all of the red teams championship wins -is that they will forever have asterisks beside them. Since they are a 2A school disguised as a 1A. Nothing proved that more then them fighting to stay in 1A with absolutely no geographic reason for it.

  13. Now that we know the odds on favorite for 2D and and we all agree 1D is a toss up. Who will the teams out of D be facing coming semi finals and why?

My picks are Radford In 2C and 1C is a three way toss up between Galax , GW and Grayson with GW being favorites the way Galax offense is one dimensional this year in a bad scheme for it .

GW is a run first team we've been able to open holes every game even the ones we lost. And have had big runs each game it's an attack by committee multiple players will carry the ball. And as far as passing goes Jollay is the better of the 2 passers no doubt. But that doesn't mean Smith is capable of slinging it. Against Giles he dropped some dimes. Against Graham he was off a bit but Graham had something to do with that lol. And Smith like Jollay will take off on you and you better hope you have speed to contain them if they do.

In short to me GW has a big speed advantage in this game and should have a pretty solid line play advantage imo. Colton Green is a man and will get in the backfield on D and the other linemen aren't slouches they get after it. Grundy is a gonna pound the rock at you all night and GW is built well to deal with that unless we're trying to tackle Graham's RB haha that kid is a cheat code. But if I'm honest I could see a trap game here GW should be favorites here so hopefully we do not look past Grundy if we do best case will be another RR game. If GW comes out and plays the way we can GW by several tds. So I'm gonna go GW-41 Grundy-15

George Wythe has not held up well to a team that pounds the ball in the past. They have struggled against Galax every year. I think the game to watch will be GW and Grayson as they mirror each other . Both like to throw and try to catch you with quick hitters.

  15. Galax is way one dimensional this year and that doesn’t always mean you are going to be a bad team and not make it very far . Galax made a living being heavy run oriented and won a . State championship while being one dimensional for years.
With that being said Galax is in the wrong offense to be one dimensional.  Running 90% of the time out of a spread offense is asinine!!! Galax has a good line and a stud RB but they have to put them in a position to be able be successful to win.

Grayson has an excellent group of athletes coming thru….. with addition of Gillespie kid they are going to be a force in all 3 major sports in 1A.

1A hasn’t been kind to them thus far.

The superintendent told a group of parents last year that his new football coach never lost to coach Dixon at Galax and he wouldn’t lose to Coach Allen either. He then proceeded to get thumped by Galax twice in as many weeks later in the season. Lol

  17. Galax to me plays a very vanilla offense with the amount of talent they have. Zero counters or trap backs , no misdirection at all. No jet sweeps ,etc. Its clear to see the QB is not reading at the mess point at all this year as it is all pre determined before snap. I get that they feel like they have the athletes and strength to match up against 95% of everyone they play but why not make it harder on the defense. This will bite Galax this year.

  18. t looked as if Bluefield had never seen that type of offense before. They tried several different fronts but never read their keys. They used big slow Defensive ends that kept crashing on the dive and never tried QB containment . And it played right into that offense strength.PC just ran around the SE and kicked out the LB and had huge holes for the QB to run

Personally, if it does happen which I feel it will then I’m okay with it. It’s crazy to have 2 Class 1 schools 10 mins from each other in the same county. But if it doesn’t happen then I’m okay with that as well. Mainly because I know that starting next year and many years after that we’re going to have a very solid football program that could make a few appearances in December at Salem Stadium(no disrespect to Galax or GW) but I feel like we will have similarities to the 2013-2015 Giles teams. With consolidating and potentially losing the single-wing I think it’s going to hurt us for awhile.

The thing about that kind of thinking is it doesn’t take into account that the other teams the George Wythes, Chilhowies , Perry Mccluers Holston of the worlds don’t stop getting better either. GW especially keeps getting better.
And that’s not to even mention Galax that just reloads year after year. They have what three starting QBs and three different feature backs in the past three  years and still wearing people out not named Riverheads .  So no guarantee in getting to Salem if staying 1A. Hell Grayson County and Fort Chiswell have done worse since dropping to 1A .
2A had the potential to be  very exciting in a couple years.

Walked the dog on Galax? Was only up 7 nothing at the half and won 28-0 with one of the scores coming from a blocked punt from a kid who had never punted in a game before.  We may have different ideas on what walking the dog on someone is.

Not to mention didn’t Galax have like 6 starters out due to Covid . And they held Bradshaw to minus total yardage!!!  Don’t get me wrong Graham was the better team that night  but don’t think you can say walking the dog there.lol
