  1. After reading thru the posts, this is my take. It seems most, over half, think this will be a close game. Those willing to actually pick a winner seem to be on the RV side. Some of the Union faithful aren't so faithful anymore. I expect Union to come out with a bunch of new wrinkles. I expect the Pack to come out fired up and confident. And I expect this to be every bit as good of a game as the Graham vs Union game was. It has heavyweight match written all over it. Almost like an Ali vs Frazier of the M7 fight. I think Union pulls the upset on the Ridge.....extra points will decide the fate of the game.
  2. About the Union team picture, they do not have 22 coaches. Some of guys in the photo are part of Blue Crew and other vital roles that help support the team.
  3. Maybe the ole ball couch is saving the best for last......why bring out the new stuff too soon before the playoffs?
  4. The "worst" team PV had in the 90's during the Jones era was the 91 team.......and to be honest it wasn't a bad team, they went 5 -5 allowing 9.1 ppg and 4 shutouts. They just had a brutal schedule. The teams that beat them had a combined record 52 - 11* The highlight of the year was marching into Legion field and beating a good 7 -1 (at the time) GC team 3 to 0. Speaking of 1991 what was the reason behind the J.I. Burton games being listed as forfeits?
  5. Per VHSL Graham - 23.33 RV - 22.40 VHS - 20.20 Gate City - 19.16 Lee - 18.60 Union - 18.33 THS - 16.50 Central - 14.00 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oVHHOaogQIrVRWFtTvLXUNbY8BR5jVUR/view
  6. Meanwhile at the Tazewell press box Friday night......
  7. Another team I would add for the outside of 20 year window was the 1982 Powell Valley State Champion team. 6 shutouts and 4.2 ppg
  8. Based on their schedule you'd think Va High wanted to 🙂
  9. Is it bad to mold your offense around the talent you have? If not does this make it difficult for your youth programs to learn the system?
  10. Will the Wolfpack passing game be too much for Union? Will Union play keep away and keep the score low?
  11. Very impressed with the amount of time TW took with their 1st drive. It would have been better if they scored but eating up the whole 1st quarter is pretty unheard of against a strong Union defense.
  12. @Gman Just incase someone needs to file a complaint
  13. Lets not forget about the guy who played at the end of the 90's up in Honaker. Heath (The Steeler) Miller! IMO he has been the best NFL carrier wise
  14. Good luck to both teams tonight, hope Ian stays away long enough to finish this one in the dry. RV---42 RHS--14
  15. Saw GW play Union at the park for a benefit game, they looked pretty stout and the first team played Union pretty even. If they haven't been bit by the injury bug and field the same team, I wouldn't sleep on them. I'm sure Graham isn't sleeping on them either, coach Palmer seems to be doing a decent job this year. GHS---28 GWHS---7
  16. Brutal but honest assessment. Yes Union should have came out in the T the second half and wore GC out. They moved the ball very well from that formation. I'm note sure why they keep running base double wing offense with #13 not playing %100 healthy. I think he (13) is the reason that formation works so well. #17 or #16 in the T formation? #16 is the best blocking back on the team!
  17. This is a hard one to pick. Grundy lost some close ones....and beat the teams they should have beat solidly. Tazewell beat VHS and Battle. VHS looks great on paper with a 4 - 1 record but lets be honest the strength of schedule is pretty week with them playing FOUR!!! 1A schools and (1) quality win vs Central. THS -- 28 GHS -- 27
  18. Right....It's a little known fact 🙂
  19. Unfortunately for Thomas Walker this will be a bounce back game from Union. Union will win and by a lot.
  20. Graham didn't play their best game against Union....Union had not played a tough opponent till Graham. They scored 8 points on a lucky play. And yah the may have gotten to the red zone 5 to 10 times but they didn't score and that's what counts. Galax has played a tough schedule with quality wins...however the G-Men will right the wrongs and come out to make a statement.
  21. All though this will be the best team Graham will play to date, the G-Men win big 21 - 0
  22. Union could make some adjustments and totally change the dynamic of the team. Not sure why #70 who started at Center since he was a freshman is NOT at Center----Freshman mistake cost the Bears a 4th down conversion against Graham when the ball was snapped before anyone was ready, only he and QB moved on the play. To add insult to injury the very next play Graham scores on a long TD run because another Freshman playing CB can't contain the end and is scared to make contact. Diving at ankles is not tackling! #50 should be playing guard again this year.....#52 should be playing NG when they are in a five man front and leave #16 at LB...#4 needs to be on offense as a wideout....Union needs to STOP keeping talented players off the field.....sorry but they do not have the talent to field 22 starters, Graham proved it.
  23. Big IF......but Lee is improving. Not sure they win this one but could be contender for 3rd place in M7
  24. Speaking of officiating; any truth that Union is submitting video to the VHSL in regards to officiating or lack of that caused injury to a player?
  25. Took a bad shot to the kneed during a blocked punt vs JIB. Carted off the field at the half.
