I don't consider Herbert Hoover to be an upset, only in seeding. They lost their first two games of the season, including game 2 to Winfiled 19-14. Ever since, no one has been close to them, they've gotten better (healthier) as the season went on. I think it will be Indy and Hoover in the Championship.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner...Indy vs. Hoover for the WV AA State Championship on Friday night at Wheeling Island Stadium...
The boys from Southern WV getting it done. Although Indy isn't in the coverage area for swvasports, they are very close to it.
Out of the coverage area by 8.8 miles as the crow flies...
At one time, a while back, I included everything south of Charleston in my coverage area. But once I realized that all those teams added zero value to the board, I left them out. Also included everything west of, and including, Roanoke too...they also were dropped at the same time. I condensed the area to everything west of Blacksburg and only included the WV counties that were directly on the border of the SWVA counties.
Luke Beemer isnt listed on the 2024 Tennessee top 25 nor does he have a 247 recruiting profile therefore he isnt a prospect. Beemer is a junior this season with ZERO offers so the chance of him landing an offer this late is zilch.
He must have knocked your son on his ass at some point...
MBA won 28-27! MBA is a solid program that produces a ton of D1 athletes. Good for your friends son.
Yes, he is already getting looks from some big time D1 schools in the SE...If he stays injury free and has a good season next year, we will probably be watching him on the CBS 3:30 game in a few years.
MBA beat Baylor 42-34 earlier this season at home. It will definitely be a great game.
In AA ball, Independence took Fairmont Sr. completely apart last night by a score of 42-7. Also, the number 1 seed Winfield was shocked by 9 seed Herbert Hoover by a score of 27-26. Also, the number 3 seed Roane County lost to 6 seed North Marion 13-12. That one isn't an upset. Man, the Beavers were so close and just drew the 1 team that's likely going to win the AA state title.
In AAA ball, Parkersburg South, the 1 seed who Princeton beat in regular season won by a score of 58-14 over Musselman last night and advances to the final 4. Bridgeport, another team Princeton beat this year plays Martinsburg today and the winner advances to the final four.
In A ball, James Monroe blows out Greenbrier West 48-13 and advances to the final 4. Look for Williamstown to win the single A WV title. James Monroe can win the next game in their Semifinal contest. It's a 50-50 type game, but Williamstown is likely a touch better than James Monroe and Wheeling Central Catholic by about 10 points imo. I know some are high on Wheeling Central Catholic and they could win it, and James Monroe possibly could, but I think Williamstown is a step above those 2 this year and if they lost, I would be surprised. Only my opinion though, could be wrong.

One of my high school classmate's son starts at G for Montgomery Bell Academy. His name is Luke Beemer. He's 6'4" 290 lbs junior and is the only underclassmen to start on their OL. Have to pull for MBA vs. McCallie.
Could we put together a list of the membership history of various districts? I would love to know the timeline of the Southwest District, Lonesome Pine, etc.
For example:
Clinch Mountain District/Mountain 7/Mountain:
2007-2014: Gate City, John Battle, Lebanon, Lee High, Virginia High
2015-2016: Gate City, John Battle, Lee High, Ridgeview, Union, Wise Central
2017-present: Abingdon, Gate City, John Battle, Lee High, Ridgeview, Union, Wise Central
Chances aren't good of winning a championship but it is possible they could get there. If they get the 16 seed, most likely, they would play Winfield. A winnable game if everyone is healthy. Then the next two rounds they would be favored. Championship game they would be a big underdog.
Bluefield will be no better than #16, and there is still a small chance they could miss out of the playoffs completely. Point Pleasant plays Winfield, if PP wins, they are in and Bluefield is out. or if Keyser beats Frankfort they are in over Bluefield. If Bluefield gets in, they will be #16 and play #1 Independence. Bluefield loses again...
Having said all of this, what are Bluefields chances of winning another state title? I know nothing of WVA football, but they were far and away RV’s best opponent so far this year.
Blutarski...zero point zero. They will get run out of the stadium in the first round.
