Every team that beat Union ran a limited offense. They didn't need to because the DC never adjusted nor did he anticipate what was coming.

Abingdon for example ran lead 7 on multiple drives 4 and 5 times in a row. Central ran the counter left and right all night long. All they had to do was find 1 or 2 plays that worked and run them till they won.

Like I have said before, they won't get that courtesy from RV. They are good at making adjustments.

    What about bluefield?

Caues the main people on here only care about union and gmen going to get smacked by Appomattox lol.  I'm here to tell you Southwest Virginia has more than 2 teams and a lot of small schools have big time talent.  Do I think Holston will win it?!?! Probably not.  It's hard for a school with 250 kids to play a Riverheads team that picks from 460 kids.  They need to do a realignment for 1A. Just because the smaller teams are not one of the big 2 doesn't mean these kids don't play their hearts out ever Friday night and deserve some recognition.  I think we should be showing all of the southwest Virginia kids some love.  Holston, Ph, Grundy, Twin Springs and all the other schools that bust their a$$ to make the community proud. It takes more than a handful of teams to make football great in Southwest Virginia.  So this is to all the little guys out there.  Keep working hard because a lot of us see you and are proud of you!!

Almost every team I’ve watched hasn’t been really sharp on special teams.  Does it not get the focus it used to?  I mean…just poor fundamentals.

Well I saw Lee return one kickoff to their 46 or so but after that the rest they were pinned up deep Bradshaw returned the one punt for a td. And yes our one punt attempt In the second half by the second string was blocked. So how much better do they need to be seeing as how teams do not kick to them

If I was invited to your house, and I made a comment critical of the host, I’d be asked to leave.  GMan pays the freight on this website, which essentially makes it his house.  You were critical of how he ran his house, and he told you that it wasn’t wise to do that.  He’s much tamer than he used to be.  15 years ago, he’d have followed through on it.

All in all, it’s not a huge deal.  Just let it go…

No not in my house we would discuss the comment and get to the reason why I would never ask anyone to leave that is rude

I wasn't insinuating you did, my point was I've been a pretty big loudmouth and haven't refrained from differing from the guys who run the site, and they haven't banned me yet bc that's my policy and it seems to be in line with how they usually handle it.

I still am lost to which thread, which comment and who got a time out. I'm certainly critical of the guys who run the board at times but at no point was I ever under any illusions that they couldn't or shouldn't ban anyone according to whatever criteria they decide. They pay the hosting fees, they run the board, etc...so they get to decide. A person can still say whatever they want but the forum absolutely has the ability to decide what they want on here. We choose to post here so we gotta play by their rules. If they make egregious decisions that totally crush the forums spirit, someone can build a new forum or we can go to Preps.

As a mod.if you disagree with what a person says debate about it you do not put them in time out to shut them up that is not following the rules you set.

The thread was what should be the poster was one1 I think he made a comment about the playoffs and how he thought a way to fix it would be a good idea. Well one person not mentioned called him and his idea stupid and put him in time out for 5 days I made a one word comment censorship and got threatened that he could make it happen if I wanted it to.well I made a very long post in the thread defending myself and the other person against bullying by him because at my age I do not scare to easy.as i said before. I do not know him personally or anything about him. Have always respected him.  But again. Will not be pushed around.

I know what you are talking about, saw it too. Seemed pretty petty to call someone's opinion dumb and put them in timeout for it. We all read the rules....or should have when we joined. Nowhere does it say having a contray opinion about something is a violation.

I can't stand a bully or someone who puts another down publicly to look tough.

That is why I stood up I am 67 years old not very knowledgeable about high-school  football but love the G-Men. If I get banned I would miss following the page but you know at my age so be it. If it makes him feel like a big man then that is fine because I know this I am a fine person because I did what I know what was right.

what happened this week? I missed it completely. I will say this: at least one of the mods on here and I have went back and forth, repeatedly and sometimes pretty harshly, and I haven't been banned. Lotta posters dislike me. But if you try and keep the political junk to a minimum, don't attack HS kids and try to be decent, they seem to let you hang around.

A poster made a comment was told it was dumb given 5 days time out I defended him one word censorship  got basically told it could be made to happen.  I made a long post it the topic defending myself.the topic was removed to where I cannot see it if it is still up. No politics just defending a person's right to say what he thinks without fear of being put down or punishment for defending himself. I never attack children of anyone here or anywhere nor there family.

  9. I like it when someone disagrees with what I say they tell me up front not a sneek attack on me by hiding behind power. I am saying this because I know I will get banned for this but I respect everyone I have disagreed on topics even those who are adimn.on here. For the most part they kept it respectful. I have been here since 2003. Never  been in time out or banned. Been in argument with Ryan and others but still have respect for how they are. That brings me to now. A post I made got removed because someone I feel did not like it because I called censorship then wrote another post. Next thing I know I am banned from seeing it if it is even still up.i will not name anyone but needless to say power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely. It showed its ugly head on here this week. I just wish people could post on here even if their post seems stupid to some of us it is just their opinion. And I thought that we all were still allowed to voice our opinions on here or is there only one opinion  that is allowed any more on here. If we deviate from it or sound dumb we get time out or if we go against them like me we get banned.if so this is no longer a free place to voice your opinions on sports or even defend another poster without fear of punishment. So thank you for my rant.

High School sports do not exist to be a minor league for colleges. We do not pay taxes to support high school athletics in order for someone to find  a way to avoid paying for a college education. It is great if a student does get to go to college because of sports but you are putting the cart before the horse if you are sacrificing your high school experiences for a college career that may or may not exist.

I am talking about the kid that has already committed to a college not every kid on the team hoping for one.

2A points for playing 1A schools is the reason Lee High is coming to Bluefield. The system was designed to account for strength of schedule and LACK of strength  of schedule. What would a normal Washington DC copycat passifist appeasing tool do at the VHSL? They simply work in a formula to counteract the same formula in use!!!!

The problem is the mindset that ALL THINGS must be perfectly fair, and with bureaucracy,  all things can be fair, and the truth is, all things can NEVER be perfectly fair.  So, Abingdon has to travel a bit more East to play more 3A schools, whoopty do. Life goes on. People and teams bitc# and moan about inequality  when they could be setting the standard and putting the work in on how to overcome it, and be an example on how to deal with it and conquer it. The tools can never quite understand that by adding layers of equality to make things equal, MORE inequality is created.

Look at Appo. Glenvar has had that 1 seed down there a couple times if I recall. Appo worries about APPO getting better and being good, not about a possible trip to Glenvar when Appo is clearly the most deserving team. They know that with hard work and working on self, they overcome the possible Glenvar travel thing. This is just one of hundreds of examples on the right way to overcome what is often situations that aren't always perfectly fair.

In other words  to be the man you got to beat the man. Play the best and you get the best out of yourself

100% agree with letting the kids get in as many games as possible. I was/am a fan of the +1 games for non-playoff teams. A final game vs a competitive team, great all around solution imo but I don't like the 2-8/3-7 8 seeds getting slaughtered by the 1 seed.

The only problem  I  see with this would be is what if you had a kid on your team recruited by a college let's say, and he plays in such a game before moving on to said college and he tears up a knee, ankle neck, back or anything and he cannot play again how do you think he is going to feel . Doubtful but possible.

Of the 56,238 cases in Virginia, 47,159 are considered active. There have been 1,586 deaths out of the 9,079 closed for a total death rate of 17%.

This probably reflects the most vulnerable dying quickly, and as the other cases are closed that rate will fall. Even if the other 47,000 cases completely recover, the 1,586 deaths would represent an approximate death rate of 3%. That doesn't sound huge, but if that average held up for the entire country and every citizen contracted coronavirus the 3% death rate would translate to 9 million dead.

There have been 5,100 cases for the under 20 age group with 0 deaths thus far. However, that is not the issue. What happens when those teenagers contract the virus and spread it to a parent with asthma or an 80 year old grandparent? That's where the problem lies.

Even if these kids are perfectly safe, other people that they come into contact with may not be. And if the VHSL or individual school districts ignore official CDC guidelines and a grandparent dies as a direct result of a player contracting the virus from a rival team during the course of a game you better believe that lawsuits will start flying. At this point, every organization's; including schools, churches, businesses and athletic leagues, primary goal is to avoid a lawsuit. Whether that involves signed waivers or just staying closed to avoid any liability, they are going to do what they must to survive financially.

I don't believe any brainwashing is involved. It is simply a case of unknowns. One 40 year old person can get it and have zero symptoms  whereas another is dead in 2 weeks. It's a matter of not wanting to find out which 40 year old we are. As more data is compiled from the people who have contracted coronavirus, we will have a better understanding of exactly who is likely to be fine or likely to die. Then, we can make an informed decision as to whether we, as individuals, can attend a ballgame or if we should just keep our butt on the couch.

My wife has already been warned by her physician that she's part of the higher risk group due to lung issues, so we know that we need to be more careful than most when we go to get groceries.

I feel very confident that I'll be just fine to attend a sporting event, but what if I contract covid and then give it to my wife? Statistics are just numbers until one of them is your spouse, parent or grandparent.

Testing samples from sewers in the US and Europe indicate that this virus may have possibly been around since September, and further prove the death rates will be very low. I hope that turns out to be true.

it has been proven that the youth have a very low viral load that they do not pass it on to adult more over adults pass it to the children.  so children are a very  very low risk to give any adult the virus at all. this comes from The CDC.

Luckily most Americans have heeded warnings and orders and have flattened the curve a little.

Im still skeptical that we will have a mass vaccine in the fall. I could see a treatment like remdisivir or something like that. But not a vaccine.

    Hope everyone is saying safe.

well it is looking like late fall to early jan for a vaccine. I have confidence we will have it along the other treatments that do work like hydro chloroquine and zpack all of these will help in the fight.

I said last month that I think we will still be social distancing and have something similar to what we’re currently in as we head into 2021.

Until they find a viable vaccine that can be mass produced — this isn’t going to get better. And I don’t think they will have one until this time next year at the earliest.

Hot spots will continue to pop up. We’re staring down the very real position that hundreds of thousands of Americans don’t live through this.

well it now looks like we will have  a vaccine by fall and several other meds to treat this virus in  the early stages also now so we have hope which is what we all need to hang on to. and now it looks like then numbers are not going to be in the hundreds of thousands of americans and others lost but less. but even one person lost is too many. we all need to stay together and keep praying for each other and hang on to the thought and fact that this will very soon. god keep each and every one of you and your loved ones safe until we start again. mark pruett. graham high school class of 73
