  1. Castlewood didn't get anything new for their football program I don't believe.
  2. I thought there was a civil fine just for a regular speeding ticket too? On the LPD forum, we wondering about what I said on my last post about if your ticket gets dropped do you still pay the civil fine. My sister got a speeding ticket last year, but it got dropped but I think she still had to pay the court costs, and the new civil fee is like the same thing isn't it? I can't wait 'til I move to Tennessee thats for sure!
  3. What if you get a speeding ticket and you go to court and it gets thrown out? They usually throw out speeding tickets between 5-7 mph over, so the question is, lets say I get a ticket for doing 60 in a 55 (which is baloney anyway) and it gets thrown out, do I still pay the civil fine?
  4. The district definitely won't be as good without Lebanon.
  5. They just need get rid of the current districts and regions anyway. Go to 6 "true" classes in football with its own districts and regions and 4 for other sports with their own districts and regions. Thats the only fair and straight way to fix things.
  6. Fine I guess. I for one am excited on seeing both. Ralph isn't a headliner in the festival, he'll be playing one of the side stages during the day I guess so the Tool fans probably won't be interacting much with the bluegrass fans. Tool is an interesting headliner for the festival. But the festival itself is a diverse mixture of genres. From rock to bluegrass to jazz to folk and a bunch of other types of music... I've never seen Tool live but I heard they are AWESOME live!!
  7. I was wondering the same thing Beamer about what areas they will invite players from. I'd say Region D, the Hogoheegee, Southwest and Highlands Districts.
  8. Anybody going to Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tn. this year? Looks like it'll be a good show this year. Tool, Ralph Stanley, Clutch, The Whitestripes, The Police, and Lewis Black will be the well known acts there. Kind of disappointed that Radiohead, Tom Petty, Beck, and Steve Earl won't be there again this year though.
  9. Castlewood is in western Russell County. From Bluefield just take Route 19 south through Tazewell and Russell County like you are going to Abingdon, when you get about 5 miles past Lebanon make a right onto Route 58-Alternate and go about 12 miles. Make a right a the second red light. Castlewood High school is on the top of the hill.
  10. Yeah, a lot of the stuff we missed in the "hard" question sets was usually from lists of stuff our coaches told us to study, but never learned! Honaker and Twin Springs really took one in the chin this year at state. I figured after last year's tourney when Honaker won a match and then almost knocked off Mason they would finally start to turn around their success in the state tourney. This season was just the same old story for Region D again.
  11. Sometimes its just a crap shoot when picking between the A and B set of questions. Sometimes you will get a set that will have a couple more questions that you know that other team got, and sometimes you luck out with a question set.
  12. I'd say when all the buildings in Washington Co. get too old and dilapadated(sp) they will build new schools. I think all 4 schools in the county were actually built around the same time, so they would probably be replaced around the same time. In 20-30 years, all the counties around here will have consolidated high schools. Just look at 20 years ago how many more high schools we had around here. Rich Valley, R.B. Worthy, Garden, Whitewood, and the 5 Lee County schools that formed Lee High and around the 50s there were a few more.
  13. Who's the guy from Chilhowie that refs? Older guy, kinda tall with glasses.
  14. I'd say it was just Abingdon simply made him an offer and then the rumors started flying.
  15. So is the 9 team regional tourney just in Region IV, or is it in all of AA?
  16. Wish I coulda been there, but I had class tonight! I wish Honaker would starting winning some close games this season for a change! How was the attendance at the game? Was RMS packed?
  17. Yeah, just rumors and stuff that I've heard over the years. Sounded kind of plausible though.
  18. Why wouldn't Lebanon and Gate City drop to A? If I only had roughly 600 kids in my school, I wouldn't want to compete against so much larger schools either. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the only reason Lebanon joined the Highlands in the mid 90s was because they got voted out of the Hogo and didn't want to join the Black Diamond, that was kind of before my time so I really don't know much about what happened. Lebanon has done about as well in single A as they did in AA and Gate City has had a good run of athletes over the past 5-6 years which has allowed them to win all those state titles in different sports. I think this year, GC's talent is about equal with the rest of Region D...
  19. Yeah, Abingdon couldn't drop Tazewell if they wanted to. Maybe VA High is off the sched.
  20. I bet they dropped Lebanon or Lebanon dropped them. I guess all the schools in that new district have had to shuffle their schedules up quite a bit! Or maybe Abingdon dropped them??
  21. I didn't know Shortridge and Tiller were out for Honaker, no wonder its been such a rough season...
  22. Good luck to J.I. Burton too! Another SWVA team in the finals!
  23. Why on earth don't they just play on Saturday afternoon??
  24. None of those teams if Twin Valley comes back this year. Who is in the tourney this year? I hope Honaker can turn out a good season this year and maybe get invited back next year. I miss going to that tournament.
