  1. Yep just not seeing what you saw where do you think burton has a big speed advantage
  2. Well Rv has there state 4x100 relay team on the field so would be suprising if burton is actually faster
  3. (I Take it you've seen J.I.Burton play??) Yes ( Playoffs has nothing to do with Thur game!!) with Graham in Ridgeviews Division and PH in Burtons I think you are wrong if you want good seeding ( I was waiting for someone to say RV has more student. Lol) since no one brought it up yet do you think it is important?
  4. This is my take on the game. Burton is a solid single A team and needs to get more of a passing game to get out of the region in the playoffs. RV is a solid AA team that needs more of a passing game to get past the 2nd round in the playoffs.
  5. 2017? The score was 35-0 ....That was NOT close.
  6. Think he was referring the D-Line as a unit and not the players individually. On a side note if the coaching situation and numbers contionue on there trend do you think VHS will start losing players to Battle or THS?
  7. From what I saw of Tazewell vs RV they are really Big on the LOS but most of there offence was geared to the outside. From what I have heard from my Union friends the VHS D-Line was a joke and would struggle vs many cumberland teams this season. I am thinking Tazewell by 21
  8. As for the Ridgeview/Tazewell scrimmage I think both teams have alot to be happy with and both teams see areas that need improvement. RV looked to be ahead of the game running out of multiple sets and showing verity in the offence that honestly i have not seen in a RV/Clintwood team. I think the running game looked tight and was effective even with the #2 and #3 Backs in the game. The passing game was ahead of last years passing at this point but needs work there looked to be a few miss reads and a few passes that were not as accurate as you would like to see but Much more positive than negative to report on that. Starting QB has some speed I think teams will have a tough time accounting for his ability to tuck it and run in the passing game assuming that Adkins draws the type of coverage that he should drow from the Defense Backup QB looked solid and defiantly plays more poised than a 9th grader should makes me feel good about our QB situation going forward Hard to tell about the line they opened some nice holes at times but were not quite the road graders i would have liked to have seen. That being said I do not remember any D penetration occuring at any time during the scrimmage (Other than the 4th 10 play set between the teams) I would have liked to have seen a little more from the DLine in pass rush but most of tazewells passes were quick and it could be I am not giveing there line enough credit. Receivers caught the ball well (Only 1 Drop that i can remember but it was a big drop LOL) Not sure the speed is there at the WR spot as it has been the last few seasons. But they were able to get behind the D a few times so a few more weeks watching will be needed before i can say for sure. Backers looked solid but Taz did not try to run up the middle much so it was tough to get a solid read on them. DBs are a mixed bag.The starters were all solid Adkins will probably be able to take away the other teams best WR but I think if the D has a weak point it will be pass coverage. as for Tazewell They have some real talent at the skill positions and a huge line but do not seem to utilize ether of those things There inside running game is next to non existent and there passing game is short screens and deep balls down the sideline I can not say I can remember a pass that was between the hash marks (There my have been but nothing sticks out ) On D I think Tazewelle needs to get more out of there LBs in run support but other than that I thought they played well D Line made few plays but were holding there own in the trenches and there DBs were quick to the ball and tackled well. Over all impressions RV will be a improved team this season but needs to stay healthy and continue to develop there depth at WR and DB. Taz will be solid but I have no reference point to judge them against. so at this point Solid is all I can say about them
  9. Rv is deep on the line thin at db and better than expected at qb bigist problem was turnovers Taz is solid at the skill positions and big on the line but no inside running game will hurt them vs teams that tey can not outrun
  10. What year is Lomax? Do not remember him from last season Never mind I see you had already stated he is a sophomore
  11. I was seeing the LOS as a possible weak spot for Union going into the season. How did there O and D line look?
  12. I think he will be a solid QB How many other M7 Teams are breaking in a new QB this season and how is there early progress?
  13. Every thing I am hearing backs that up I think Phillips will be fine (probably better than fine) there is no doubt that is will be the fastest QB that we have had in the backfield since the school opened. I know he has a strong arm as well I just want to see his dissension making and whether our WRs can catch a pass in a game before getting to excited LOL. That being said a QB that can run puts ALOT of pressure on a Defense. Personaly i look for the Tazewell scrimmage to be all about testing out the WRs and the passing game as well as sliding in as many backup running backs to see which one sticks as our #2
  14. For me it is reservations more than pessimism. RV is replacing ALOT of skill players several who were 3 year starters. RV will be replacing there QB and that is always an unknown. The Bright point on there team (Outside a Adkins) is there line which is bigger stronger and deeper (Overall) than any RV team up to this point. For me until I see how the New QB and skill players work out I will temper my enthusiasm.
  15. Adkins and Sexton were 2 different types of runners Sexton was a homerun hitter no doubt but needed space to work with and have Adkins in the backfield allowed him to be a scary 2nd option. Adkins also had big play capability but I was more impressed with his yards after contact becouse last year he showed that he could get his pad level down and pick up some tough yardage. The Abingdon loss had less to do with the offence than it did the D (However a power running game in the 4th would have helped no doubt. The Richlands game IMHO had as much to do with Richlands running a solid scheam vs the spread (And the Ridgeview D being unable to effectively contain the Richlands QB picking up 1st downs with his legs I look forward to seeing what the Ridgeview Offence comes up with for this season. As for D I would have to give the early nod to Union as they are returning there entire LB crop which was great last season. Ridgeview will be Solid on the D Line but IMHO will be challenged in the secondary with ALOT of new faces this season
  16. Do you have a link i could not find the article
  17. It is also his livelihood and his reputation if he truly believes he did nothing wrong why would he not fight. If he does not fight it then he is not ever working in the education field again. As for being selfish fighting it puts the kids in the position that there coach may be replaced at any time (Bad) Not fighting it takes food out of his famlys mouth and ruins his reputation regardless of the out come of the investigation (Worse) Do not read this as a defense of Jimbos alleged actions if he is found by the investigation to have been in the wrong then fire him then
  18. I have no clue but will say the 3,200 signatures do not move me at all if they were internet based and represent people that know nothing of this particular situation but are defiantly against sexual harassment in general. To me it seems strange that the original story was that Jimbo would not be recommended to remain head football coach as the Admins wanted to "go in a different direction" with the #MeToo moment not forming until it became clear that he had alot of public support to stay in his spot. That being said if there is a pattern of reported events then you have to wonder why nothing has been done up to this point. I really do not look for this to be the end of this situation (IMHO the School board is getting sued by someone before this is over)
  19. https://www.timesnews.net/Baseball/2018/04/11/J-I-Burton-s-Adams-suspended.html According to the Times story the Burton HS/Middle School Admins (Leadership commity) recommended to the SchoolBoard that he not be reinstated as football coach....the School Board did not agree and extended his contract. I will say that I wonder if there is a hidden reason for this i remember Adams getting in hot water a year or 2 ago in an indecent that cost or almost cost him his coaching position in (Baseball?) but cant remember will see if I can find the old articals

  21. Injures on the LOS lead to 2 other Underclassmen starting several games during the season. Last seasons JV may provide depth but the starter should have all seen Plenty of Game Time last season. WR losses will be tough if RV sticks with the spread Sexton will be a big loss but
  22. He has a good arm and great speed. But the QB position is one that is tough to predict based purely on athletic ability. Honestly I feel better going into this year at that position than i did going into last season.
  23. Pretty sure Ridgeview only lost 2 starting(Full Time) O-Linemen (Personal i am excited that on paper at least they look that they are finally starting to get some size on the LOS) IMHO Ridgeview will be fine on the Line (Better in fact) the spot they are rebuilding is at WR that is where Graduation cleaned house
  24. RV rotated there line heavily last season and return most of those kids they will be just fine as far as starters go. Line Depth may be an issue next season but you just have to wait and see how things shake out
