  1. Rye Cove and Hurley are also. Thomas Walker may be as well.
  2. Played our season opener at Hurley my sophomore year. We were leading 18-14 with 1:44 left in the 3rd. Hurley ran a 4-4 stack at the time. 3rd and inches and coached caller for a QB sneak. Just as I split the guards the 2 MLB hit me and everything went pitch black but 8 orange dots. Turned out the cotton candy machine or popcorn machine blew the the breaker to the entire light system. A spotlight started shining shortly after from a House way above the field behind the bleachers. Finished the game on Monday(Labor Day) at Honaker. Hurley went on to the Region D2 finals losing to PV. We missed the playoffs going 3-7 but had we won we would have went in D1 and Hurley would have missed the playoffs to Honaker I believe.
  3. I think because of the turf, they may have the oddest visitors seating section also. But at least they have one unlike quite a few TN schools it seems like.
  4. Rye Coves is football/softball. It used to be baseball until a new field was built around 06.
  5. The dynamics of small school football tend to by cyclical. Even historical programs like Appy and PV were somewhat shells of themselves at the end. Joining together to create Union actually seemed to be a big benefit to both programs at the time.
  6. I don’t think Union will have the lowest player to coach ratio this year.
  7. Joel and Jerry are both big additions to Eastsides staff and hurts TS to lose them. Quality coaches and people from what I have been around both.
  8. He has had a lot of growth in the weight room as well over the last 12 months. If he stays healthy he has a very bright future and hes still growing.
  9. Yes. He will be a freshman this year.
  10. Castlewood will have around 25 out when its all said and done. Had a few gone on vacation this week. Twin Springs likes what they have to work with even while replacing some key parts off of last years team. I expect TS to look a little different this year after their OC and line coach went to Eastside. Thomas Walker I think would expect to be solid this year. Losing Spears hurts but they return a lot of talent. This group is one TW fans has felt like could win the district since they were young. Eastside should be better but young. Should have quite a few holdback freshman on this team and I hear a Union like staff on the sidelines. Burton graduated a lot of kids. I feel for the Culbertson kid who would be their QB. Broke his collarbone at the start of last year and tore his ACL a couple of weeks ago. Kid cant catch a break and I hate it for any kid who doesnt get the ability to compete like they want to. RC's numbers are strong. Return a lot off of last years team and have some additions that should help this year.
  11. Same for RC. The feeder system fell off around 06 or so and was in a serious tailspin. New folks took over around 2015 or so. It took a couple of years for them to get their feet under them which in turn led to better turn out. Didnt hurt that we have 2-3 of the largest classes that have come through RC in a long time coming up then as well. Numbers rose and the HS program started to see the benefit from it last year. I expect RC to dress 40+ kids this year on varsity. Covid seems to have put a damper on the youth program currently and they are fighting to get more kids out now. I hope they have a good turnout today for this years program.
  12. Maybe not a new district but the BDD is basically a 3 school district now for the most part.
  13. Nortons gonna be upset about that “The City” jersey.
  14. I would still give the nod to Allen. Maybe if Trivette gets a Power 5 scholly down the road I could say I was wrong but Allen done more for Richlands girls basketball than Trivette and got a D1 scholarship doing so.
  15. I think GC will continue their upward trajectory this year. They will lose some good players after this season but they have a lot of young talent coming.
  16. I think Sykes will probably be the #2 guy at DB from what I had heard. The kid who transferred from Betsy is more likely the one to get the starting spot.
  17. Honaker is the Region D favorite for many this year.
  18. I hope they can get it fixed properly and quickly. Gene Malcolm is typically one of the best facilites around when combining natural grass and seating for home and visitors. Locker rooms are the only issue I have had with the setup.
  19. With the need for games on Thursdays and Saturdays due to an official shortage this may be a great reason for VHS to help out there if they play at TN High or other facilities also.
  20. He has a commitment to where he wants to go to college, but he has a better chance of that staying a committable offer by playing well against higher levels of competition as well. Whether that be in HS or travel.
  21. Thats the question everyone is asking. Heard they have a house on the Virginian now. If they move there Ive heard Abingdon, Battle and TN High. TN High would be deadly with their lineup and adding her to the mix. Pitching was what limited them IMO this year. Have also heard with the move she may just focus on travel ball. Will be interesting to see as she is a special talent.
  22. It is a catch 22. I understand wanting to give the kids 10 games. It will give your bench time to play too. That being said it most likely kills your power ranking.
  23. I could go for some Smokehouse banana pudding now that you mention it.
