  1. I remember seeing this article from Wired a year or two ago. I'm glad I found it: http://www.wired.com/autopia/2013/02/russian-dash-cams/ Quick excerpt:
  2. YIKES. Looks like GW will be looking for a new coach or two...
  3. Ha, never had a doubt? Here, look over this. I think it's applicable here: denial /de·ni·al/ (dĭ-ni´il) in psychiatry, a defense mechanism in which the existence of unpleasant internal or external realities is kept out of conscious awareness. And to your next point, I think it's less about Saban rebuilding a program, and more about Jimmy Sexton using his leverage to get Saban (and himself) a monster contract. If Bama wouldn't have ponied up the money, do you think he would have stayed?
  4. Well, Saban stays! Big sigh of relief from Bama fans I'm sure.
  5. I just voted for who I thought would win, and I said Winston. To go along with outstanding numbers, he's also dynamic to watch and passes the "eye test" that I think voters take into account more than they're aware of. If I had to give a 1-6 it would be: Winston Johnny Football AJ McCarron Andre Williams Lynch Tre Mason
  6. I don't know. I feel weird about taking solace in other's failings, especially when we had two bad losses against BC and Maryland. This was a team that showed great promise, but lacked any sort of consistency (and that's putting it lightly). I'm not exactly arguing that we under-performed considering I thought we'd win about six games, but after we started the season 6-1, I think many VT fans' expectations changed for good reason. Either way, bring on the Sun Bowl! El Paso!! WHO'S EXCITED?!
  7. This really is so weird. I saw a picture of it, and figured the photographer just got a lucky shot that made it look they were "blocking" each other for a split second. Nope, these guys kept at it for a while. So strange.
  8. Ha, we need to start an APB post to check in on some people. Sandman, BlueTornadoFan, and I want to add deuceswild. Where did these guys go?
  9. +1 for The White Spot. Those burgers will make you high-five strangers.
  10. Shame is, we don't know if that assumption is safe or not because Zimmerman thought he had the power to end a kid's life. I more or less agree with your last paragraph there. The event was certainly precipitated by an aggressive Zimmerman, but Trayvon did nothing to defuse it, and judging by these past couple of months, Zimmerman isn't going to back down. At the end of the day, it was Zimmerman who brought the gun to the fist fight, so it's only his story that gets told.
  11. In the Trayvon case, we ONLY heard his side of the story. Know why? Because he killed that child. Pretty convenient way to make sure you only get your point across if you ask me.
  12. Oh yeah, forgot one. http://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-zimmerman-ipad-20130911,0,334664.story#axzz2l6I5XG00 This time it was Zimmerman's father in law who was the aggressor against that poor little victim Georgie.
  13. Here's the "fair and balanced" report of the story. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/11/19/george-zimmerman-arrested-in-florida-after-disturbance-call/ So in the time since he killed a child, he's choked his girlfriend and pointed a shotgun in her face. But hey, guess I forgot again. Innocent until proven guilty.
  14. I'm so glad to see our upstanding citizen, George Zimmerman, continues to utilize his second amendment rights. http://nypost.com/2013/11/18/george-zimmerman-arrested-after-domestic-dispute/
  15. It's understandable where Will is coming from, and I am by no means suggesting that Weaver is stepping down from the position too early. But there's been weird backlash from VT faithful to keep reminding us that we aren't supposed to like this guy. At the end of the day, his tenure's eulogy should be overwhelmingly positive considering where VT athletics came from and where they are now.
  16. Well, sorry to hear that. I ran into him once as a student about 3-4 years after his diagnosis (2008/2009 or so) and he was perfectly pleasant to my friends and me. Guess you caught him on a bad day... or I caught him on a good one. But that doesn't change the fact that during his tenure, he's made VT sports much better than when he started. Our football team is perennially competitive, we've upgraded all of our sports facilities, and we're nationally relevant as an athletic program. I'm not so obtuse to suggest that no one else could have done what Weaver did, but he has done nothing but build successful programs on top of what he had already built. Yes noon games are annoying, and yes I want Stick It In back, but at the end of the day, VT is much better because Jim Weaver was there.
  17. I read your "good riddance" as a sign that you didn't like what Weaver did during his time as AD. Is that true? And there is little to no chance Beamer takes the AD position. As GMan said, they will probably hire from outside of VT circles. My guess is that they'll also wait until we have a new school president as well.
  18. Incredible that the Bluefields are mentioned on Yahoo! That youtube video posted halfway through the article definitely does the crowd size justice. Packed house for whatever Graham/Beaver game that was.
  19. Awww, poor bucfan. Always being persecuted for his political beliefs... Beliefs he just happens to share with 95% of everyone who posts on these forums.
  20. I think I agree with you VOL. I also wouldn't doubt if the fan ratio is 70%-30% UT, VT respectively. Are they definitely going to add more seats? I could be wrong, but I thought they were going to leave the seating as is, and not add any more. And UVAO, even if we draw 130K, that's still a record.
  21. More like Falcon SIESTA. AMIRITE?
  22. I disagree. In classic Bristol Motor Speedway fashion, both teams should wear their sponsors' stickers on their helmets. That way, Frank Beamer could say, "Well, we had that number 3 Gatorade Nike runnin' real good tonight..."
  23. Ha, that little kick he does at the end kills me. I want to be so excited about something in my life that I react similarly.
  24. I'm in. Who knows where I'll be in three years, but I'm traveling home for this game.
