    Pat Forde on the subject:

Virginia at Virginia Tech (11). Loser leaves town? With a moving van? Two embattled coaches with 5-6 records, both seeking to become bowl eligible. Cavaliers coach Mike London would appear to be less in control of his destiny than longtime Hokies boss Frank Beamer, but neither fan base is happy.
    When: 8 p.m. ET Friday.

Hate meter: The enmity is alive and well, though neither side can be cocky in the grand scheme of things. Thomas Jefferson’s university has the classic, We Were Here First You Uncultured Heathen outlook on the old ag-and-mechanical cow college. The response from Blacksburg is to dislike the perceived arrogance of the entitled prepwads in Charlottesville. Some Virginia fans expressed there-goes-the-neighborhood dismay when Virginia Tech was allowed to join the ACC.

Prestige meter: Virginia is tied for 23rd in the U.S. News rankings. Virginia Tech is tied for 71st.

Upper hand lately: It’s been Hokie ownage. They’ve won 10 straight, a span of ownership now stretching more than 3,000 days – something plenty of Tech fans can tell you off the top of their head.

Upper hand historically: Tech leads the all-time series 53-37-5.

Trinket: the Commonwealth Cup is a handy bit of hardware. It’s a four-foot tall whopper, but the useful part is the silver cup that can be detached and used to drink the sweet nectar of victory postgame. Which is something Virginia Tech is quite accustomed to doing.

Pick: Virginia 16, Virginia Tech 14. The nightmare losing streak ends at 10 for the ‘Hoos.

I have used many different things (beer bottles, silverware, fireworks, etc.) as a microphone to sing Don't Stop Believin'. Never have I thought to use a goose with a hat on.

UVA claims to be one of the nation's top universities. This student certainly pulled his weight to make that true.

I currently work in a neurology lab that is trying to determine predictors of Parkinson's disease, as well as treatments to stop or reverse the effects of the disease... and yet we're woefully underfunded. I know there are more complexities involved, but man, how do some studies get funded?

AB is having a pretty good year...he "should" move in to the top 150 all time on the rushing leader list this week.

Considering he might pass Gale Sayers this year if he stays healthy....quite an accomplishment.

Other locals on the list...the Jones brothers....Thomas Jones is at #23 all time and Julius Jones is at #126.

Thomas ended up doing really well...if he had played one more year he would have easily been in the top 20 all time.

Was just looking over the list and thought it was interesting where the locals were.

I remember playing rec league basketball as a youth, and we would have an "A" squad made up of the better players and a "B" squad made up of the lesser players.  The A's would play the first and third quarters, the B's would play the second and fourth.

Trying to build fundamentals and equalize talent at an early age isn't just limited to soccer in this country.

Another significant event that has helped the Galax high school soccer program has been the addition of Graham to the MED.  Before the addition of Graham, Galax had never lost a district soccer match.  This season, Galax's only loss heading to a group 1A state title was a 4-3 decision to Graham.

It has become a very good rivalry in more sports than just football, and we all like rivalries.

Good post.  I think Aaron Murray has the chance to be the "how did we overlook this guy?!" player in a few years, kinda like Russell Wilson.

And Logan Thomas is gonna make a helluva tight end for the Patriots.

Thomas would be a very good TE, not a inline TE but he could man the position they used Hernandez. Hes not a NFL QB.

For the record I was BIG on Wilson when he came out. Had a lot of success at NCSt in a pass happy offense and really flourished at Wisconsin behind a VERY tall OL(his height being a issue was a joke)

EXACTLY!!  To listen to sports radio here in St. Louis, or read the newspapers, you would come to the conclusion that no one here is thinking reasonably.  Let's see what Bradford can do when he stays upright for a season, has the same offensive coordinator for more than one season, and has actual talent around him.

If taken by the right organization, I can see a couple of very good pro QB's in this draft, none of which include the guys getting all of the publicity!  Manziel, Bridgewater and Bortles will not make the transition in my opinion.  In Manziel, I see a smaller Akili Smith.  No QB in NFL history has succeeded with legs as small as Bridgewater.  I know that may sound petty but I saw him up close and in person three times in the past two seasons.  I was blown away at how small his legs were.  Bortles is this years Blayne Gabbert, Christian Ponder or Brady Quinn.

Aaron Murray could be a very good NFL QB given the right system and organization.  I can see New Orleans or Dallas picking him up in the 3rd round or so.  I also look at Derek Carr and see a lot of Aaron Rogers.  He is motivated, hungry and given absolutely no credit by the mainstream media.  I don't think Mettenburger or Logan Thomas have the tools to survive in the NFL.  Thomas could make the league at TE, where he should have been the past 4 years.

But, its all speculation at this point.  We always get pleasant surprises and unmitigated busts.  It's what makes the NFL draft so unique.

The Rams have bigger problems than at QB, I hope they draft or trade for oline and defense instead of gambling on Johnny Football seriously. Being able to stop somebody and protecting a fragile QB is the recipe for success in St Louis

I completely agree.  He also has no regard for his own self preservation, so he will be broken in half by about the end of year two.

And now the St. Louis media are saying that the Rams may pick him up.  I would instantly give up on this team if that happened.

Ha, I think this is borderline inexplicable.  VT basketball was moribund at very best, maybe even dead.  It would have taken me a lot to believe that a rock star coach like Buzz Williams would even consider the job, much less take it.  This immediately injects life (back?) into the program, and creates an excitement that I haven't seen since those fun(ish) Seth days.  Williams built some tough teams at Marquette; I can't wait to see what he's able to accomplish at VT.

I'm beside myself with excitement right now.  LET'S GOOOO
