  1. oh wow, i really hope this guy was kidding. i had a 3.43 gpa in high school. you slack in high school, you slack in college. you don't have a job in college, you have no spending money. you depend on your parents, you're gonna be living with them until you're 40. they take your car and phone away, PAY FOR IT YOURSELF. grow up and take responsibility for your life instead of letting your parents deal with your mess.
  2. That is true, technically there cannot be a lockout if there is no union. This move was made by the players solely on the fact that they can make individual law suits against the NFL and still play football. The players still want to play.
  3. Anyone see that there is a new show airing on Spike every Wednesday at 10pm starting on March 30th about the Welch area coal mines?? I saw a commercial for it a few minutes ago watching Band of Brothers on Spike and thought it looked pretty good. It's about the mine ran by Tom Roberts and Mike Crowder in Welch and Westchester area. It looks pretty interesting. Just thought I'd see if anyone else has seen or heard about it.
  4. Inter was a BIG favorite in this game, they might have gotten caught looking forward for next weeks Champions League match against Bayern though and gave up the easy 3 points late.
  5. I hope you pick Brescia for the draw or win...tied at 1 with 2 minutes and stoppage time left. Brescia tied the game in about the 83rd minute or so. Inter might be able to pull it out but it's not looking too good. And as I'm typing this Brescia was just awarded a PK and saved by Cesar from Inter to keep it at 1-1.
  6. That is correct, they are now 0-3 following the double bye.
  7. if it wasn't for Jimmer having such an amazing year, he would be player of the year, IMO.
  8. Agreed wholeheartedly, I think the set-up is to where it will end up a rematch. You can't forget about one of the best players in soccer right now as well, Gareth Bale. That man is dominant and can change a game, with him and Lennon on the wings, any team will struggle with the speed of them. I think United can hang with them with Evra and Rafael at the outside backs and Nani (if he's back and they draw Tottenham) and whoever else on the other side. Either way the draw works, I see it a Barca-United rematch. And United is the ONLY EPL team that has a shot at winning it. Period.
  9. I also hope that Chelsea get destroyed, but realistically, it won't happen. And my girlfriend had asked me yesterday who I wanted to win, Arsenal or Barca, I told her that was like asking if you'd rather be shot or stabbed, that's how I feel about those 2 teams hahahaha.
  10. I would have to respectively disagree about Puyol and Pique, all WC, the commentators even claimed that was the weak spot was the center of the defense, as is the same with Barca. If you meet a team with strong center mids and strong strikers (Man U, Chelsea, Inter) then it could smell trouble. I just don't wanna see Barca win because they have so many players that have earned trophies since '08 with Spain and clubs.
  11. Yes, the Van Persie sending off was harsh, BUT, in the first half when he got his first yellow, it should have actually been a red IMO. He was striking back after that altercation in which he got grabbed in the neck, obviously intent trying to hit the defender, pitiful act. I've never liked RVP, and that just solidified my standing on him. Barcelona was looking good, but not like the best club in the world like some have called them, they still have weaknesses in their defense. A good club can see that and exploit it a lot. Tottenham got saved by Gallas today and advanced, another good game to watch even though it was 0-0. I'm really looking forward to Man U's second leg (considering I am a HUGE Man U fan, have been since I've been watching soccer) and Inter Milan's second leg. I also want to see Real out early because I can't stand them the same I can't stand Arsenal and Barca hahaha. If I were these teams, I'd be worried about Shakhtar, they are legit and can flat-out play, definitely no slouch (sp?). Just my two cents.
  12. prices went up today to $3.39 give or take a cent or two here or there.
  13. he admitted to the school of having sexual relations with his girlfriend and was kicked off the team for violating the honor code. i respect the hell outta this kid though, he did the right thing in admitting it even if he did get kicked off the team. takes a lot of guts and responsibility to own up to that knowing the school's policies.
  14. what are gas prices looking like around the Bluefield area??? in the DFW area it's hovering around 3.30 a gallon give or take a few cents depending on the place.
  15. agreed 1000%, practices should get you READY for the games, including full contact, full speed drills. the only day you should get to relax is the Thursday practice for the walk through. i play soccer in college and our practices are wayyyyyyyy harder than the games because we have conditioning, drills, sprints, drills, sprints, intra-squad scrimmage, then possibly more conditioning depending on the intensity of practice.
  16. i felt so bad for the other kid that got DQ'd following the restart before the green/white/checkered for changing lane position before crossing the finish line, but i was glad to see Bayne win.
  17. the way I look at it is not the fact that the coaches aren't poor judges of talent, but children of college legends or pro legends are a big risk, they will always be put under the microscope when it comes to measuring up to their dad's standards. most coaches don't know whether to take the risk and give a scholarship to a son of the legacies or pass them up. it's a lose-lose to most coaches seeing that if they give the scholarship and the kid just fizzes out then it was a stupid mistake and only got the scholarship cause of the name. or they pass them up and they go on to be studs on the court/field. just my 2 cents on passing up legacies and such.
  18. this is clearly a board to discuss topics on what we have heard and our opinions. if people could be sued for slander as you have put it Gman1986, hell most of us would be knee deep in lawsuits.
  19. I hope everyone has a very good, and safe, celebration tonight! Be aware if you are out on the road tonight though, accidents with a drunk driver are raised by 150% on New Years' Eve. Happy New Years everyone.
  20. It was actually a very heads up play by the QB. He is the one that saw the clock was running out and snapped the ball anyway. The coaches had nothing to do with it, that was all on the QB. It was kind of a "what's the worst that could happen?" type things.
  21. Actually, the ref backed away in fear right before the charging of the player, thus the assault part.
  22. this would be an interesting combination, also word around here is Randy Shannon as top candidate for DC at Texas.
  23. i played with Joe at the GBCC a few times, he was good then but dribbled a little too much at times,i think he's changed that. i've heard he's developed into a better post player though, which is extremely scary.
