  1. In a game that the spread was 44.5, this could be big.
  2. Your opinion is ok with me. All I was adding to the conversation is that most people would look at Marion’s record and think they were just a lay down team and wouldn’t know that they’ve actually been within 1 score in 8 of their 9 games. That’s pretty impressive for a team that doesn’t have a ton of talent and depth.
  3. Ok, cool. Thanks for the insight.
  4. The Grayson game has been the only game that Marion hasn’t been within 1 score in the 3rd quarter. That’s great coaching and game planning.
  5. Did you know that Marion has been within 1 score during the 3rd quarter in 8 of their 9 games this season? Of course you didn’t. Marion’s coach is more knowledgeable in game planning than most in the area. So when someone says “Marion will give them more than they expect, but Graham will still roll..” I think that’s probably fair to say and don’t take it as a slight.
  6. More than likely, yes. Although I think Ridgeview can still keep the #2 even with a loss with some help from other teams.
  7. My thoughts are: After getting shell shocked by Richlands and Radford in the first two weeks, who would’ve thought Gate City would be in this position? Great coaching job.
  8. I wouldn’t pretend that isn’t true. However, not one player in the world is going to be close to breaking records without having an offense that benefits them. You have to play to what your strengths are He’s averaging 5 catches per game for his career. Ridgeview fans are throwing a fit that their best athlete is only touching the ball 5 times per game. I’ve seen many people praise Plymal from Grundy for being one of the better area coaches. We don’t knock him when he lets Scammell carry the ball 30 times in a game do we? When Scammell broke the Buchanan County rushing record a few weeks ago I didn’t see anyone diminishing that accomplishment because they feed him the ball so much. I think everyone understands that he’s their best athlete and him touching the ball so much gives them the best chance to win. Main point I’m making is: if you have one of the best athletes on the field you make sure he touches the ball, regardless of anything else, because that gives you the best chance to win most game. & I think most would agree with that.
  9. Daddy don’t call plays or throw the ball, sunshine.
  10. No, but can move to #2 on the VHSL career reception list with 5 more catches this season.
  11. What seed was 5-5 Blacksburg when they won state?
  12. The points system is flawed. Using Tazewell for an example this season (which I know is an outlier) will get 15 points for losing to a 9-1 Riverheads team. If they would’ve scheduled Montcalm instead and won they would’ve received 36 points plus had a 2 & a half hour less drive. I’m not sure what the right answer is to fix it so I shouldn’t complain but the system is set to for you schedule weaker competition that you know you can win 5-9 games with a weaker schedule. Competition doesn’t get rewarded.
  13. I feel like when the Highlands district was around there was always a 4-6, 5-5 team making the playoffs
  14. It was 35-24 generals in the 4th. Good prediction
  15. It’s possible for each school but Abingdon is the only team I know of that does that. Its pretty cool
  16. If you wait until the middle of the week they put that week’s schedule up with their prediction for the whole state. If you want hypotheticals you do have to input them all thought.
  17. Until Grundy plays Riverheads for a state title
  18. Spread was -27.5. Marion moves to 4-1 against the spread on the season.
  19. Mine was last year at the Hoover Met Stadium (where Michael Jordan played his minor league baseball home games). 16k people showed up! Hoover (9-0) played Thompson (9-0 #4 in the country) for 1st place in Alabama 7A. Hoover was historically one of the top teams in 7a but Thompson had came on the scene and played for the state championship for 3 years straight. This game had 20+ players that held division 1 offers, including Thompson’s FOUR!!! 5 star defensive players. game was back and forth the whole time. It always seemed like Thompson would pull away but Hoover would always come up with a big stop. For some reason Thompson only played the 5 star guys on defense, even when they really needed a couple yards. Hoover led a 4th qt. Comeback drive and threw a touchdown with a few seconds remaining. I’m including a tweet with the video of the touchdown pass and another one of the crowd pano.
