Graham girls are very good and have one player that really sticks out. Richlands, Tazewell & Virginia High girls are all pretty good teams too and on a normal year they could all compete for the region D championship but Graham has beaten them all handily this season, with the exception of one game against Richlands that they won 3-1 .

Right. I would like to know what year they did for all sports or if it was staggered. I know by at least 2003 their basketball teams were combined. In 2007 we played Bland County in Bland’s gym in the regular season and in the district tournament they hosted us at Rocky Gap’s gym. I always thought that was neat.

They combined for all sports too, years before consolidation. Their basketball teams would alternate each home game between Rocky Gap High & Bland High. It had to be sometime in the late 90’s or early 2000’s.

I was having this conversation with a guy last week. What are some unforgettable games that you got to witness? the first one that comes to mind for me was in early 2006 Pocahontas @ Big Creek. Pocahontas was leading comfortably the whole game until the last few minutes when Big Creek made a run to take the lead. With around 5 seconds left Pocahontas’s Mark Little went the length of the court to score the game tying basketball on a fadeaway. The game went in to overtime & Pocahontas ended up winning 101-100. Mark Little had a quadruple double with points, rebounds, assists & steals. He finished the game with 54 points. Little averaged 34 points per game that season, made the all state team & won BDT Player of the Year.

Willis played the second game against Lebanon and Tazewell won that game. he did not play in the other games

Because MT. View dropped them in the middle of the contract cycle when there was no chance to pick up a game without traveling 4+ hours, and they did that without even informing Tazewell. Not even close to being the same situation.
