  1. [ QUOTE ] I think before the Tazewell County schools dropped there would be consolidation. Richlands and Tazewell would become one high school located somewhere around Cliffield with the kids from Springville that now go to Tazewell going to Graham and all of Pocy going to graham making two high school taz co. east and taz. county west [/ QUOTE ] They said that 20 years ago.....still waiting for that to happen. We will all be single A by 2010. Count on it.
  2. [ QUOTE ] hey thanks for the motivation:) [/ QUOTE ] Please by all means put it up on the wall in the team room. It won't matter.
  3. [ QUOTE ] Tell me then why we wont? [/ QUOTE ] Because you suck, and we don't. Is that a good enough reason?
  4. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] We'll see come October! [/ QUOTE ] Oh yes you will... [/ QUOTE ] These Grundy guys are amazing, you get smacked around in your house by 50 points, yet you talk jumk. What talent was left at Grundy graduates come June. It isn't going to get better for you at all. We may hang 60 on you this year. Now I guess we get to hear how you will beat us in 07 now. Ain't gonna happen as long as Will Cole is at Graham.
  5. [ QUOTE ] I think Sug was better that Bradshaw!!! [/ QUOTE ] Better at what? Certainly not football. No disrespect to Sug, but Ahmad was the best player to ever come thru Graham.
  6. [ QUOTE ] We will see if hes unstoppable come about september -october [/ QUOTE ] For a team that got smoked 47-0 to another that doesn't lose too much, I don't think I'd be running my mouth about anything. You come to our house this year, and it ain't gonna be pretty...............
  7. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Are you sure there are enough high school students in Doran to make a team? What's your team name? The Homies? [/ QUOTE ] how bout the OXY'S [/ QUOTE ] funniest post ever!
  8. [ QUOTE ] This year's schedule is a great example why Princeton screwed up in joining the MSAC. PRINCETON 08/25/06 - OPEN 09/01/06 A BLUEFIELD 09/08/06 A HUNTINGTON 09/15/06 A SOUTH CHARLESTON 09/22/06 H GEORGE WASHINGTON 09/29/06 A NITRO 10/06/06 H LINCOLN COUNTY 10/13/06 H GREENBRIER EAST 10/20/06 A CAPITAL 10/27/06 H SPRING VALLEY 11/03/06 H RIVERSIDE That's not a real attractive schedule from a fan's perspective. I would much rather see some local schools on their schedule. The James Monroe and Mount View series had to put more fans in the bleachers than any of these with the possible exception of G-East or Riverside. Know they needed AAA games, but why not schedule some VA schools that would count as AAA like Richlands, Blacksburg, or Christiansburg? Not to mention that you wouldn't have to pay the round trip $42 tolls on the turnpike per bus! [/ QUOTE ] Simple question, simple anwser..............S-C-A-R-E-D. They know they will lose to any local team they play with the exception of Pikeview. Most years they can't even beat James Monroe.
  9. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] SWD: Marion Lebanon Abingdon Grundy Richlands Graham Tazewell Va High [/ QUOTE ] That's going to be a very good Class A district in a couple of years...minus Abingdon, of course... [/ QUOTE ] Comments like that make me can't wait for football to start back up.... Even though we BEAT Marion, barely lost to Va High, Grundy, and Tazewell, and did decent against Richlands. Plus we are getting everyone back, unlike all the other teams. [/ QUOTE ] Please, stop my sides are hurting from laughing so much. You are a 3 win team at best. I don't care if the whole team is coming back. Your "great" coach did you guys a lot of good last year. If he was so great, why is he coaching at Abingdon? Good thing you quit playing Graham, or you would be a 2 win team. And you won't beat any of those teams you mentioned this year either. Why? It's simple, you have no heart.
  10. [ QUOTE ] No. I don't think Marcum could go D1, and that was proven this year. Marcum is good, don't get me wrong, one of the best in the area, but a D1 back can make plays happen on his own at the high school level. I don't think he went into the season too cocky, either. He probably just wasn't prepared to have to carry all of the weight on his shoulders though. [/ QUOTE ] Truth be known, I think that Marcum is neither as good as his line made him look last year, or as bad as it made him look this year. Last year he ran thru some big holes, this year he had no holes. You are as good as your line. The real problem here is that the Grundy fans hyped this kid way too much. I know they wanted him to do well no doubt, but they severely over-inflated his value. Those people don't have too much to say now.
  11. [ QUOTE ] When he doesn't have anyone that can block for him on his team, what do you expect him to do. That was a dumb post and Marcum could easily be a D1 RB. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah right..........
  12. Congrats to Rob on a great season. Has anyone realized that the award has been given 5 times, and won by a Graham G-man 4 times. 2001 HT Matthews,2002 Ahmad Bradshaw,2003 Ahmad Bradshaw, 2004 Rusty Coeburn,2005 Robert Henry. That is an accomplishment that may never be topped.
  13. [ QUOTE ] It seems as if the VHSL is trying to "pull a quick one" in the heat of the playoffs when no one is watching them. They have released a NEW R&R PROPOSAL FOR THE 2007-2008 SESAONS. Check it out and post your thoughts... After looking it over for a few days, I must say there are some good ideas. But the one thing that was overwhelmingly bad and to me makes it worthless is this. 129-AAA 83-AA 104-A Until they make the Norfolk and Richmond schools play where the enrollment dictates they play, there is no good system for the VHSL. And I won't even get into the babies in Lee Co who want their cake and eat it too. Pitiful, the VHSL STILL has no guts! http://www.vhsl.org/MoreAboutVHSL/0709initialRRPlan.doc [/ QUOTE ]
  14. Which means if you live in Bluefield, no game tonight. Only charter is carrying the game.
  15. Be on TV on tape delay as in years past? WVNS used to carry all the state title games. Just wondering....
  16. Bluefield 24 James Monroe 14 Weir 22 Wayne 7 This may be the most entertaining state final EVER.
  17. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Let the Cole era begin! [/ QUOTE ] Oh boy, I'm not looking forward to that. I have a feeling he will be to the SWD as another four year starter - Donovan McNabb - was to the Big East. [/ QUOTE ] We sure are..............
  18. Congrats to the blues, you earned it tonight. I think you guys showed a lot of heart when we scored to tie the game. Nice drive in the final minutes. I want to wish you luck next week. I think our kids deserve special recognition for the effort they put forth this year under adverse conditions. What a great group of kids. We will be back strong next year. Let the Cole era begin!
  19. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] They bring in more stands, when you make it to the state semi-final [/ QUOTE ] They didn't bring any more in last year. Why don't you stick to a subject you know about, losing Pocahontas football. Loser. [/ QUOTE ]yeah they brought in more against salem... alotta talk coming about richlands stadium when graham has to pay to use one.. [/ QUOTE ] Uh, no they didn't. I was there. And as soon as we close your dump of a school, we can use that money to build us a nice stadium. We can call it indian field. At least a winner will play there. By the way, Tazewell lost so you jumping on the Richlands bandwagon now?
  20. [ QUOTE ] They bring in more stands, when you make it to the state semi-final [/ QUOTE ] They didn't bring any more in last year. Why don't you stick to a subject you know about, losing Pocahontas football. Loser.
  21. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] That may be a fan talking cause us players know what we face tonite and it wont be easy, so lets shut up and let the pads do the talking! [/ QUOTE ] I feel a storm coming. [/ QUOTE ] National Weather Service says otherwise... Point Forecast: Richlands, VA 37.09N -81.8W Last Update: 1:00 pm EST November 25, 2005 Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 23. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph. [/ QUOTE ] Sign of things to come?
  22. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] yes but they only have too players back from then a qb and center witch is a big deal because you need the good and fast sanp from the center and then the qb used to the rb to hand the ball off so that waS a big deal but i still dont see it being enough to pull of a win against the blues esspecially at EH [/ QUOTE ] Graham also had several other players injured and nowhere near 100% the first time around including a couple of starting linemen with knee/leg injuries and a starting RB/DB. I hope that's all you and Richlands think that Graham has...the running game. Neither Workman nor Cole played vs. Richlands...Graham's passing game was non-existant the first time around. Keep dusting off that spot in the trophy case... [/ QUOTE ] Funny, I asked a guy if he was worried about the game tonight, he told me he was worried about Liberty-Bedford next week. I hope that is what they all think. This WILL be a close game.
  23. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] It ain't Mitchell, and we are not Bluefield. The majority of fans in SWVA will tell you that Ernie Hicks is the most dreaded stadium this side of Lane Stadium. It is good to support your team! But, don't forget your ear plugs. [/ QUOTE ] Correct! It is not Mitchell. The only reason a "majority of the fans in SWVA" think that EH is the "most dreaded" is due to the fact that they can't see anything from that pitiful thing you call bleachers on the visitors side. That is the only thing anybody dreads about going to Richlands. The "noise" from the home side disipates rather quickly in that vast openness...lack of an "echo effect" makes EH rather average in the relm of crowd noise vs. number of fans in the stands. IMO, Legion Field at Gate City is far more intimidating than EH...but that's just my opinion. [/ QUOTE ] In our last 17 trips to Ernie Hicks stadium, our record vs Richlands is 11-6, including this year. Of those 6 wins for Richlands two of those were 7-6 scores (1980,1985).So yes that is a real intimidating place for the Graham G-men. If you are the Virginia High Bearcats, or the Marion Scarlet Hurricane it may be intimidating, but not for us, we own you there.
  24. [ QUOTE ] Ok, To Stop All The Confusion If Jennings Played Or Not During The First Richlands/Graham Game...He Did Play, He Didn't Play Much Though Because He Was Still Injured, But He Actually Scored The First Touchdown For The Tornado's. I Know Graham Is 100% Healthy For The Game, And So Is Richlands...But I Still Think Richlands Is A Better Team This Year, And Will Take The Win Again Over Graham I Believe 31-7 Richlands Wins It Again Good Luck To The Blue Toranado's Friday, I'll Be There In The Cold Supporting You Guys!, And A BIG Good Luck To My Bluefield Beavers Saturday...I'll Be There Too! [/ QUOTE ] What class shown from a fellow Bluefielder, simply amazing. I'll make sure I am in Linside saturday, cheering for the Mavericks!
