They should sniff around Harlan County for a hungry young coach. They’re sure not going to lure away a young Wise County HC. I hope they get a good one & go 9-1 forever; no community / school needs the benefits of a successful football program more.

So which direction do you think they are going? I think they would be well advised to hire someone outside of the GC extended family, and try a new approach. GC will always be a football town, and the right coach can bring them back to what they should be. GC fans are true to their team, but they need to allow the new coach and his assistance, time to bring them back. Wish the best for GC, but think they need to change the atmosphere with the HC hire. I wish they have the honors to 40 kids, three full teams. The kids all work very hard and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean too much but it does reward them for their contributions.

Give honors to 40 kids? Is this what you are saying? If it is, then I hope that there are plenty of trophy makers out there, since everyone should get one. Life is about making contributions and working behind the scenes from time to time. You may not always get the credit your deserve, but can you honestly say you gave everything you had. Players are going to get overlooked and it happens. There are many times that these things are nothing more than a popularity contests for the coaches. Players should work hard to EARN those accolades.
They already have two first team QBs? That is a joke in itself. Coaches call each other and say vote for my kid and I'll vote for your kid blah, blah, blah. Did the kids tie and nobody wanted to break the tie in the meeting? Stats and wins should account for the people that make it to first team. Standouts should make the team as well, when a super talented kid may not play on a winning team. Coaches know who those kids are when they watch film and play each other.
BHC only covers three Tennessee schools (Sullivan Central, Sullivan East and Tennessee High). They cover 31 schools in SWVA (all teams from the BDD, Cumberland, Hogoheegee, SWD, M7 and GW and Rural Retreat).
They cover Battle and VHS all of the time....wait til baseball season.

I am glad that you (Larry) have a personal relationship with Coach Colley. I bet he wouldn't know you at all. The funny thing is, all you do is complain about throwing the football and not being in the T. You wouldn't get your wish if they hired him. Maybe LHL's wish list should include a new baseball bat, the one he had in high school didn't work.

Why is Grape so bitter? If anyone else has success, he and a few others just try to tear it down. I do know that he was wanting to help Coach Reed at Abingdon. How is that for sour grapes?
We can all speculate on how many games other coaches would’ve won in the Akers era...and it’s just that...speculation. What I can guarantee is that the past three teams would have played with a greater demonstration of football fundamentals — principally blocking and tackling.
This is what the people in GC are upset about and something you can’t understand from the box scores or Facebook.
Let me get this straight, you went to practice and set up on the hill at THE EASTMAN (joke in itself) Credit Union and know for a fact that they didn't work on the fundamentals? Hmmmm. Then I guess you should apply for the job (shut up and apply) l get so sick of these posts about how you are the only ones that know football. Since we are talking about coaching, neither Coach Fry or Coach Colobro were from Gate City. It is the few of your keyboard warriors that make everyone else sick and tired of hearing it. You are also the problems when it comes to your kids (in the community) getting coached because all you do is bash people. Get over it.
