  1. why not try to get something more manageable like c'burg and sullivan south? Wouldnt be as hard to do and would draw a huge crowd. A vs B, B vs C, A vs C kinda format? I would pay to see it!
  2. why would you dress up like a greazy looser whose only talent is having nice abs? You do realize the only reason he gets women is because there are cameras around him? A Werewolf is much cooler than that punk! Heck a giant squash is!
  3. "they're going down to the BDD and to Single A against their wishes" dont think the move is being forced, or is it? Maybe im confused!
  4. true, but I just dont see Haysi beating Honaker this season. The 3 seed is what I was thinking, GC is about as close to a lock for taking the region crown as you can get but I think the other 3 spots are wide open.
  5. Grundys not exactly being forced down to A next year, its the coaches and the administrations choice.
  6. Im suprised the score was as lopsided as it was! Honaker looks as though they have got it together, I think they pretty much have district wrapped up and thus a playoff spot secured. I think if they can get the 3 seed the Tigers may play Gate City for the Region D crown. Everyone elses opnion?
  7. ive seen a definite change in Hurley football from the early 2000s to where they are now, they arent great but there solid
  8. "P.S. The wife and me became parents for the 3rd. time last night. A baby boy!!" Congrats!
  9. Enrollment #s Hurley 199 Twin Valley 226 Haysi 281 Honaker 397 The big school arguement just doesent stand up, except maybe in Honakers case.
  10. Things like this should be kept in th open, thats the only way to get to the truth(or at least as close as possible to it). The problem with that is that some people on here act like he has already been convicted! No it shouldnt be swept under the rug, no we shouldnt be calling people on this board yellow(for trying to protect their school, its students and the community) but battleftbl you were obviously wrong saying that there was nothing to it. Lets try to stick to facts and not speculate. Although this affects the JSB football program I dont know if this is the place for it, but I dont really know where is? Lets hope none of this really happened for EVERYONE involved!
  11. I think GC has a solid chance, they are a good team who plays keep away with the ball. For them its all about execution not playmaking if they can grind it out they could win a state title but they cant turn the ball over. Clintwood is big and fast! They have 2 solid RBs and a couple of tough FBs to carry the ball, athletic wideouts and believe it or not their backup QB is probably a better passer(not athlete) than their starter so I think they stand a very good shot of winning state. Everyone on this board knows what Richlands has so I wont go into that, I dont believe any of these teams are the clear favorite but all are in the thick of things, none really could be considered underdogs except maybe GC and I dont think anyone ever counts them out.
  12. Their QB very well could have been hurt. The thing that makes Appy hard to defend isint the dive(HB or FB) its the belly off of it, the LBs cant jump the dive because the belly back will take it to the house. Castlewood is playing with this type of approach but without the complementary play, just dive. Makes it easy to defend. If they would just throw a quick seam pass to the TE that would keep the LBs off a little and they could stay in split backs. But if they arent gonna throw it much why not just run the Split T?
  13. Those AAA schools have o-lines that average bigger that richlands biggest player and backs that probably all run under 4.8, it would be no contest and to think it would be is absurd. It would be like JI Burton vs Richlands. JIB is one of the top d2 schools around but would be down by 30 to Richlands at the half. The Virginia playoff system(with all of its flaws) does split teams up evenly student enrollments JIB 200 Richlands 700 Phoebus 1300,The talent in that part of the state is rediculious! Enrollment also makes a huge difference (unless you are Abingdon) The difference between D1/D2 D3/D4 D5/D6 isint that great but the skip a division and it is huge i.e. D1/D3 D3/D5
  14. I dont know the details of their situation but I dont know how in the world Castlewood beat TW, the Pioneers werent great but were very quick/fast. Castlewood is running a formation suited to running alot of plays but are running only a few. That style of play will work, they just need a new formation and a couple of complementary plays. Can they not look up some Appalachia film? Hurley played like they wanted to win district, Haysi played like they were going to win district, BIG difference there
  15. yes, IF they stay focused. I know beating Haysi means alot to Hurley(any district win means alot), Honaker is solid but I think Hurley can get it done. Just have to stay on track!
  16. I think Hurley will be the 3 seed(if they win the district or not) which means the loser of the Clintwood/JIBurton game. I dont think they can get enough points to jump JIB or Clintwood and take the 2nd seed Castlewood was vastly overrated, they were a piss poor team if ive ever saw one. Alomst no passing game no push on the line and only one dependable run play, HB/FB dive. They just werent very good!
  17. Exactly! Put the pedal down push the score up the mid 40s, then put the second team in. Thats a dominating win not "running it up". If you want to see running it up look at some of the Tennessee scores on friday nights, theres always one thats around 60-7, thats running it up. '05 Haysi v Hurley 47-6, thats not exactly running it up. If I remember right it was 35ish-0 in the 1st half, could have been alot worse
  18. Honaker and Clintwood for sure, Hurley is always rough as a cobb! Rye Cove seems to always be physical even when they dont have a very good team. GC is probably at the top of my list, tose guys have a serious weightlifting program and when you play them you can feel it!
  19. Glad to hear that he isint seriously hurt. Im sorry but as long as the margin of victory isint more than 45-50 pts thats not running it up! Its just not. Eastbound you are still giving examples w/o detail 7tds to one player? I dont remember that(possibly when I was too young to remember), even if someone did catch 7 td in the 1st half thats only 49 pts(w/ xpts). That simply isint running it up, if a reciever is open throw it to him! If Haysi was Power I team and the Tailback scored 7 tds would that be running it up? Running out of bounds to throw it in? Specifics please? I'll give you an example of Coach not running it up, Haysi v Hurley '02 @ Sandlick. Ryan Rose ran for 278 yards against the Rebels (not the Haysi single game rushing record) he was absolutely unstoppable at the end of the 3rd quarter Haysis offensive starters were pulled. Ryan could have easily went for 350 yards(got the record) but didnt because he was on the sidelines watching he 2nd team. Reson for not keeping him in, if he was in he would have put 2-3 more TDs on Hurley and that would be running it up! '01 was the only year TV has been competitive,'02 was kinda close, every year after that Coach could have named the score and didnt!
  20. Yes the guys you mentioned are hurt(Idont know how bad) and yes one player was med flighted for spitting up blood(I still havent heard whats is wrong with him). Newberry can run and catch but pass he cannot, if Stanley and Blair cant go it will be a tough game against TV(it appears they have stepped it up a noch). I still think Haysi could keep it on the ground 90% of the night and beat the Panthers, but they could pull the upset. I have never seen Coach kneel it twice just to turn around and score, to "pad stats" or "run it up". Examples eastbound? Do you have any? Or is all of this just made up in you sad little mind?
  21. This has nothing to do with me but it is WRONG to attack a mans character unless you know for sure(i.e. saw it yourself or formal charges have been brought), if you dont then dont mention it. It has nothing to do with the rule of law, its common descency. When a man is accused of what some on here are accusing him of it sticks with him for life, guilty or not. I dont know the guy from Adam and probably will never meet him but lets try to hold off on the accusations. And if he did do something wrong OK, but wait until its made public
  22. If Honaker can control the edge and stop the jetsweep then I think they can will win. The rest of Hurleys game plan kinda off of that play, everything else complements it even the I formation stuff. Honaker as always is gonna come right at Hurley, but I think the Rebels will be ok against Honakers rushing attack. Like I said earlier it should be a good one
  23. This is kinda off the point but, I hate "the spread"! i dont mind it as a part of an overall strategy but I dont like it as a base offense. The only way I can support it is if some jetsweep and 2 back 3 wr is mixed in. But just lining up in 4 wide and throwing it 40 times a game and running HB up the middle with no lead blocker just kills me. Its not too bad if the team running it has the talent but alot of teams around here run it and dont have the talent or coaching to do so. It just kills me! well thats my rant for the day! lol
  24. Should be a good one, Hurley has nothing to lose (I believe even w/o winning district outright Hurley will make the playoffs) and Honaker has everything to gain(if they dont win no playoffs). I think Honaker will be too much for the Rebels, Honaker will be able to match their toughness. All I know is it should be a great game!
