As far as Grayson nosedive in sports that is way off.....regardless of the financial situation and terrible admin and severley declining enrollment they have been pretty competitive.....football program has 33 wins the past 5 years ....not world beaters but solid....1 losing season during past years...... regular season records of 9-1,8-2,5-5,3-7,6-4 again not world beaters but overall 5 year mark MANY schools would gladly have. As far as baseball it does get by far the most attention....... still 1 state championship almost 20 years ago, but out-drawing football that is absolutley untrue and not even close......the baseball team barely outdraws the soccer team. Basketball program until the past 3 seasons had some really good years also.Boys Tennis team was State runner-up last year, and state-semis in 2014

MED has not picked team in 3 years.....teams go straight to Conference selections

You are right on the money....I think Grayson Co as a whole is at a pivotal time

Huge chucks out visible from road......press box near as bad....... this along with some other action represent a total disregard for football by Admin ,AD., School Board etc. New Super and School Board have plenty of work to do.......

Will come down to a play in the kicking game....either a great effort by someone or a mistake.....I am going will 21-20 Riverheads due do some Galax kicking issues through out year. Should be a great game with big crowds on both sides.

Sixcat...agree totally with comment concerning success of Galax football/sports teams.....one thing I would add is committment of the Superintendent /SchoolBoard and overall Admin.....they have done good job providing coaches with what they need and incentives to create climate of success. The understand the positive tole athletics plays in total school environment.

That 2011 team was LOADED.........Vaughn,Fisher,Shalabi,Peoples(1), Peoples(2), Ravenall, D. George, A. Pack and thats just the skill kids oh I forgot L Parsons B Ball POY in 1a....Im sure i missed a couple....had a tall lanky safety also but cant remember name....

Not sure Galax line play as good as last year but with Spurlin ability to catch football from FB/TE and split out wide is nice addition. You could allow a Galax TB to run for 300 and few scores in past due to fact TB is only offense they have had.....Spurlin best overall football player Galax has had in Dixon tenure.......again I stated OVERALL .....not meant to demean Peoples who is getting resp as true freshman

Major turnovers verse Galax and Graham contributed to scores.....Galax had 4 defense scores Friday..Glenvar game very competitive....ultimately couldnt run football which has been problem all year.....Grayson pretty young in most areas other than Senior QB

Richland will not have a problem which is not uncommon in early round match-ups........the real mismatch is the community support offered by these opposing schools. Richlands has a awesome facility, weight training opportunities for kids and number of coaches in building and unreal community support. They put a fine product out every year. Sadly Grayson has none of these things and football is a mere afterthought ranking well below many other activities. Graysons stadium is virtually ready to fall down along with the light poles. Throw in the financial chaos, leadership issues and a rapidly declining student enrollment and you have recipe for disaster for a system. There is a reason why some schools are successful all the time.......its called committment. Grayson has some decent kids and will compete Friday but this is a mismatch in many many ways.

Dont think so........Salem recieved a forfiet a win and a Carroll loss......both recored as 10 game schedule for that purpose......that puts tiebreaker as opponents higher rating ....sure Va High schedule tougher than Grayson

I have VA High at 13 and Grayson at 14? Va High 194 Grayson 193? even at 193 each VA high schedule has to be tougher with higher rated opponents which is first tiebreaker that applys to them?

Yes sixcat but they have a brand new indoor hitting facilty for the baseball team. Oh and dont forget lights poles in football which are a disaster ready to happen and pressbox where the roof has fallen in. This for a team which has won 30 games in 4 years

Grayson should consider playing all their games away....that is the worst field ,lights and stadium as a whole in SWVA....a real dump

here my order of finish for 2013 Fort Graham Galax Grayson Narrows Bland But there will be some really good football games between those top 4 I feel the MED is the strongest in Region C in regards to football, the addition of a resurgent Graham and the quality of the others especially the past 3 seasons has really changed the perception of the MED. There are some good thletes and some really quality coaches.

I didnt mention Grayson who Graham as lost to 3 times big
