  2. I would also think that if they ever combined Graham and Tazewell, they would give the kids in baptist valley, dry fork, and some of thompson valley the choice to go to Richlands. That would help even those numbers a little.
  3. Tazewell's numbers were down even lower before Pocahontas closed. Then we got a majority of those kids, but now I think they are mostly going to Graham. That would explain most of those numbers I would think. Just my assumption anyway lol
  4. Not sure but I know for sure Vaught was at Tazewell my jr year. I graduated in '92. And for the record, regardless of his downside, he was the best hs coach I've been around as far as having a feel for a game. Anybody that has been around him will tell you the same. Football genius in my book.
  5. Wrong year. 2006. Tazewell was 8-3 and lost to richlands 61-0. Beat graham in the regular season on a blocked extra point and blocked field goal to win it at the end. Then got smoked in the first round. 2009 Tazewell was only 5-5 and was lucky to get in the playoffs. If it weren't for second half kickoff return for td by graham, I think Tazewell wins that game.
  6. Pretty sure Vaught didn't coach at Rhs in 1990, he was my o line coach at Tazewell that year. He left my senior year and took over at Richlands and came to Tazewell and beat us in 1991 for the first time since 1984 season. It is one of the worst memories I will ever have lol
  7. Job is listed on TCPS site as of yesterday.
  8. Where do people come up with these numbers? 6?
  9. Coach Allen has done a great job at Tazewell. Calling him a joke after trying to turn the program that was in shambles is harsh. He turned down a huge opportunity at George Wythe before last season because he is invested in these kids. I have witnessed it first hand.He cares more about the kids at THS than anyone knows. Countless hours of preperation, training, counseling, and parenting in some cases. He may or may not leave now, but who could blame him? When you spend that much time and effort on kids, and in return they choose to look out for themselves, what incentive would he have to stay? Looking back over the past few years, Graham and Tazewell have both struggled. But one common factor in these struggles are that everytime either school looks to be on the rise, They somehow lose a player to Richlands. Tazewell in 2008 made the Region Championship game, within 2 years They lost a potential running back, and their starting back to Richlands(Parnell and Lockhart). How many has Graham lost? Bunker, Farris, the QB Baker that got hurt twice. Those are big hits to a small enrollment school. Now Tazewell has lost 2 more, kicker is already enrolled at RHS and now the RB, who will be one of the best in the area if he stays healthy. Take him away from a team that is trying to build and put him on the rival that already is good, and that just makes Tazewell and Graham look even worse.
  10. Isn't Phoebus dropping to 3A soon?
  11. I know the list is long, but does anybody have the tree on Merrill Gainer? Off the top of my head would be Carlock, Hicks, Rider, and thats just a few. I would love to see that list!
  12. FYI 2a west region is Thursday Friday. 12-13th
  13. I would have to give nearly 100% of the credit for the funding and support of the wrestling program to Coach Dresser. His former successes at Grundy and Cburg have helped him tremendously. He has a pipeline through Christiansburg, and is getting a huge fan base in our area. He has proven three times now, that he can build national powers out of nothing. Not trying to take away from VT's finacial support, but Kevin Dresser is the only reason they are having the success they are. Now back to the topic. I voted to keep this guy around. It is very entertaining for us old guys to sit back and read all the drama! LOL
  14. Be careful, there are several members on this site that fit that description. They might get upset over a comment like that.
  15. I wouldn't expect Nebraska to care about me lol. You guys take this way to serious.
  16. Your opinion, or any body else's for that matter, on whether I'm a Nebraska bandwagon fan or not will never dampen my celebration win they win lmao!! I became a Nebraska fan at age 9. They lost to Miami when they decided to go for 2 instead of the tie in the Orange Bowl. I was instantly hooked. I have never attended Nebraska, never lived near there, don't know anyone that ever has personally. I just liked what they were about on that night. I have followed them closely since as well. I guess my opinion of bandwagon fans and other opinions are different. But, bandwagon or not, it's been a long time since they were relevant nationally, and I am still a huge game of the Huskers. Maybe some day I will attend Nebraska and earn a degree from there so I can say I'm not a bandwagon fan anymore HAHAHA!
  17. I understand what you are saying. I don't drink very much at all anymore. I don't want my kids around that stuff. I don't have to be a part of it growing up, so I learned from it. Some advice for you Ryan if your are ever fortunate enough to have children: teach them early and often what the price is for making mistakes. That way when they get older, they understand before they make a big mistake like that. Also, always explain why you do what you do when you punish or consequence your children. Let them know how much you love them, even when they don't think you do lol. Good luck!
  18. Lol, so you are using him being drunk as an excuse? I've been drunk before, still never hit a woman big guy.
