I understand the financial numbers and about saving money by consolidating but that is never the arguement I get from a majority of people. I'm a sports guy thru and thru but until someone comes up to me and starts telling me the benefits of consolidating for educational purposes then it's a mute point. My kids and I love sports... they play sports but they are not going to make a living playing sports. I like the advantages of smaller classroom sizes and more one on one with the teacher and students. I get tired of hearing about these mega football or basketball or wrestling teams we could have in Buchanan Co if we consolidate. I need to here something different. Just my opinion

Thank you couldn't agree more. Hurley's first 11 plus 2-3 subs are really good. Hurley has a lot of youth....16-17 9th graders to be exact and they have to get matured really fast to get the depth to go deep in the playoffs. The whole second and third squad is ninth graders with very few tenth graders mixed in with them. Hopefully between JV games and clean up duty in varsity games they will get the maturation they need.

Hurley has 43 out for varsity. Hurley does have a small number of 8th grade boys that play sports. I figure by the time school starts there will be about 7-8 eight graders out with some boys from 9th and 10th sent down to help out on the JV games.

Hurley is going to Eastern Montgomery in 2018. EM comes to Hurley in 2017. It sucks but you got to have ten games.

Thanks for the lead but I think the last team Hurley picked up will be from the Mountain District. If it falls thru then Hurley will travel. Hurley played Unaka and Tri Cities Christian a couple of years ago.

Why so salty? You butthurt? Hurley isn't losing anything by Holston and the three amigos from the Cumberland dropping Hurley after next season. What....ten wins between the four teams? Hurley has their schedule set for 2017 with better teams. The VHSL has approved that field time and time again over the last eight years since the redesign. The VHSL approved t as recently in November for the home playoff game. Maybe you should have gotten drunk like the bunch from Twin Springs did this year. The alcohol might have made your experience more tolerable. The stadium was cleaned the next day and where the Twin Springs fans were sitting was where they found about 6 Bootleggers wine bottles and some Budweiser bottles. LOL

If I'm not mistaken, Belfry,KY has played in 6 straight title game.

No new transfers to speak of and I'm there almost everyday. Got 4 or 5 8th graders that moved here that will be on varsity this Fall. I'm not sure they will stay due to parents finding work elsewhere or whatever. I heard the starting Grundy QB from last year might be leaving. Maybe going to Twin Valley? Could be rumours but there is a new coach in Grundy. So he might have something different in mind.
