Currently the best team in the city of Emory, Virginia.

Patrick Henry still plays football, they have been irrelevant about a long as Notre Dame has been in NCAA football. 

Two interesting points I would like to make:
 
First, the field was actually in great condition considering the rain.  You want to see bad look at Grundy field, more dirt/mud than grass.
 
Second, I heard cowbells ringing just about the whole game friday night.  But guess what???  They were coming from the Abingdon side!

It was Northwood that beat MArion

wet balls, carnival games(idk where that came from?) and whatever "additude" is.

I have to admit I have been waiting as well.  I thought Richlands was going to come back after half time.  They seem to do that, but I guess being down by 2 scores really made it tough.  I guess Falconman is still recovering from his victory tacos. Lol  I can only imagine his response will be.  On a personal note, proud of Holston finally getting in the win column this week beating Rural Retreat.  Congratulations to Coach Patterson and kids.

I would be lying if I said I havent been waiting on this since Friday night. 

I can't stop chuckling from this thread.

And whomever came up with the "Randy Reid" angle was just plain hilarious.
 
You two clowns really do make me laugh.  On a serious note, I do think Abingdon has a chance this year.  AHS 21  RHS 17

They say confession is good for the soul. Well, I must confess that there was a time I checked this message board for local high school sports news (still do) and to read Leonard's Losers (I miss that, but do think these two have replaced it).  Yes there was a time that the two chirping birds got on my nerves.  But friends, today has been a challenging day.  What do I do when I need to escape?  I read this board because I know I am going to get a chuckle out of something.  Today was no different.  I read through this "amazing" ridiculous thread and literally laughed out loud.  I want to thank you Falconboy and Southy for amusing me.

Every time I look on this board its the same ole stuff. Falcon bashing. It makes me upset and I've had enough. What makes things worse is one of our so called own has pesonally attacked me and the best friend anyone could ever ask for - Southy. Southbound has dedicated his life to the promotion of the Falcons and so have I. I beg to ask the question - did anyone ever speak of the Falcons on this board before Falconman and Southbound? Did anyone even care if we had a game on Friday night? How bout the Entrance? Did anyone ever notice the most electrifying entrance in Southwest Virginia Football before those painted up, chest pounding gorilla's and beast of men called Southbound and Falconman? NO! So Big O, your welcome!! No one cares what you think! Not me, not this board, and certainly not Southy's other best friend Stripes! All we've done is promote our Falcons and our beloved Town! Heck, the Martha and the Barter should give us money for free publicity. Along with, Kegley & Company, Rain, The Tavern, and of course TACO BELL. Just the other day one of the managers was talking about how they are going to put a local specialized item on the menu. Do any of you want to guess what that item will be called in Abingdon? Yes, VICTORY TACO! So, Big Slow until you can get a franchise like Taco Bell to name something after you, SHUT YA BIG SLOW MOUTH!

Yet another example of Jeff Hawkins not making good decisions.  Briscoe quit the previous Abingdon football staff as well in the middle of the season if I remember correctly?  So, he quits Battle and now you let him back on the staff?  Who is holding the Principal accountable?  Sorry, I just think when you are in leadership, you lead.  Poor example of leadership.

I am really disappointed in this whole situation.  I think the Principal is the first to blame due to his lack of discernment in hiring an unproven coach.  It was easy to hire Steve Wright in the beginning because he was a honorable candidate.  Nevertheless, when the time came to replace Coach Wright with quality coach, Principal Hawkins failed both the kids and fans of John Battle High School.  Second, I blame Coach Lee.  How can you leave those boys?  No matter the situation, you finish what you start.  My prayers are with those kids and Coach Wright for saving this season.  Steve Wright is a great man.

I think it is obvious that Hawkins is not concerned with Battle athletics.

One of the things that is missing in the article is the decline of morality in America.  On that note, the lack of a father in the home has really dampened the traditional family threshold.  Young men are left struggling for an identity and find themselves lost.  Coaches are role models but the young men have to have that initial push to get into competitive sports.  The vacuum of a fatherless society results into women letting video games be the babysitter.  I will say I was quite offended by the notion that school administrators are "bitter".  I work with various ones and the pressure these men are under is nothing to be blown off.  Mr. Robbins needs to remember why schools even exist. . . . . . .

I feel compelled to give credit where credit is due.  The Battle QB was on fire Friday night against Lebanon.  17 out of 19 for 312 yards is awesome.  If Battle can continue to be able to pass when the run is taken away or run when the pass is taken away, they will be hard to handle.
