  1. Exactly. We spend so much time trying to find a scape goat for someone that we often overlook who has committed the crime. I am sure punishing the kids at school (suspension), punishing them with the team (suspension) and making them pay for it is enough. Why does anyone else have to be involved? End of subject. If I were to get a speeding ticket then I pay it and life goes on. My wife, kids, cousins, dogs, cats, fish, whatever wouldn't be punished for it. I would be surprised if this doesn't get blown out of proportion by someone and a school board member doesn't get involved somewhere down the line. Remember when Battle had the JV baseball deal. Why should a school board member even had shown their head with that. One of the biggest problems with school systems today is the election of school board members. It becomes axe grinding and when a parent doesn't like something they run to a SB member. Being an elected official with a lot of power, the SB member makes heads roll at their school. What was wrong with appointing school boards by the board of supervisors?
  2. Glad to hear the fever has went down. Praying and hoping they keep getting better. Keep us updated. I know many of us on here have small children (mine are 4 and 2) so we all are thinking of you and your family.
  3. And Obama has given plenty of reasons for stones to be thrown at him. A lot of people say he didn't and doesn't have the experience to be the leader of the US. The Nobel Prize is just another example of Obama getting something for nothing. Again, I am not a republican nor democrat...I think both parties are worthless and really the same. I just disagree with excessive government which is where we have been heading for several, several years now.
  4. So a high school coach is suppose to sit in there and watch the boys change, take showers, etc? Yea, that is a great idea. I remember a couple of years ago I heard GW tore up Lebanon's visitor's locker room. Used field paint on the walls, took craps in the showers. Probably happens more than we know. Maybe they should make the Tazewell team pay for the damages, come to Mitchell Stadium and fix the damage, or kick those who did it off the team or cancel the season. Why don't we try punishing those involved instead of blaming others. Punish the kids who did it. You can't tell me a high school kid, regardless of the emotion involved, doesn't know better than to tear other people's stuff up. My brother's kid has lost an I-Pod at least three times. Guess what happens? My brother buys him a new one every time. Does that teach responsibility? So to answer my own question, maybe they don't know because their parents don't teach them!
  5. That is right. As much as Coach Bryant disliked Auburn, UT was his biggest rivalry dating back to his playing days. Like you said, ask any die hard UT fan who they hate more and Bama is always at the top of the list. RTR:cool:
  6. And Obama winning the Nobel Prize has given his haters, those who think he didn't have the experience to be president, another stone to throw as well. Again, not trying to rile anyone up, just trying to contribute to the discussion.
  7. But predominantly black schools are not racial? All female schools are not sexist? I am not trying to start something. Bush should have had a stance and stay with it and that is the topic of the thread, but come on? Criticize somebody for not attacking a policy of a place they are speaking???
  8. Remind me again why Bob Jones University was a black eye on Bush?
  9. I've done some research on the Constitution party. It seems to be as close to what the founders wrote as anybody. Would definitely be less government then the two parties we have now. Of course there are not many members of it who have a legitimate shot for any office in our present day
  10. Don't all districts give a divisional coach of the year, so probably Matlock will be a coach of the year. I have seen GW play Fort Chiswell. Atwell should be player of the year...
  11. It is a shame that if Florida and Bama go undefeated until SEC championship, the loser of that game is going to get the shaft since the loss is late and even though it would be to the number 1 or 2 team in the country. The Pac-10 and Big 10 have an advantage over every other conference because they don't have a championship game. The SEC, ACC, and Big 12 will usually have two top 25, if not top 15 teams playing each other last game of the year. Just another way of stroking schools like Ohio State, Michigan and USC.
  12. Creating division is exactly what the Democratic party has been doing for the last 8 years (regardless of wheteher GWB deserved it or not). The Dems bashed everything he did. Both parties want more government and more power. I agree with what one guy said earlier; Obama, Clinton, McCain were the best picks we could come up with? And before that Bush, Kerry, Gore? That is why nobody respects America.....
  13. Hopefully history will repeat itself in more ways than one.
  14. Both parties are worthless. I say we should go back to what George Washington said about political parties.
  15. I don't really like either party, but it is just like all the haters picking up stuff GWB did or didn't do.
  16. Don't you have to DO SOMETHING before you win one of those?
  17. We will only see more stuff like this in the future with education money being so thin. Look for schools to close and classes to get larger. Like the article said, it may be cheaper to close Appy, Pound, and St. Paul and move them to the other schools and not build any new ones. Great article. Thanks for posting it.
  18. Sean Penn? oObviously Michael Moore thinks capitalism is bad so what does that leave; communism, socialism? My interpretation is somebody thinks it is great, maybe not you, but if you hate capitalism then you have to be a communist.
  19. There has to be some divided loyalty amongst the team. Nobody has mentioned that Mickey Andrews is retiring after this year. He has kept FSU's defense up there for years. FSU seems to suffer some of the Tech syndrome. A killer d with a mediocre offense.
  20. I think it is funny all these people like Moore (and Sean Penn to name one) are so against the country and against capitalism, but they would not be anything without the system. I personally will not knowingly contribute a dollar to either one of them no matter how "right on" their movies are. The only way to bring about equality is by lowering the standard of everyone. There are problems with the current system, but it is better than any other in the world. China still has people living in caves! Tell me how communism is so great?
  21. Be careful jumping to conclusions. My wife's cousin played for Lebanon and GW would always slap them around in 8th and JV, but varsity was usually a different story. A lot can happen in a few years with high school kids, but for your sake, hope you are right.
  22. So you are saying that he didn't get the head job because of his experience or knowledge of the game, but because his brother can give a bunch of money. Sounds like a good thing to me.
  23. I would settle for senseless and needless law suits brought against hospitals ceasing. There are many doctors who do not deliver babies because of the insurance they have to carry in case they make a mistake. That alone should help cut a tremendous amount of cost toward everything. As a matter of fact, ending lawsuits period.
  24. Richlands, Floyd, Powell Valley, Burton, even Gate City a little. Yea, those teams have had no success over the past five or six years. And I think Graham took the spread to the JMU or Liberty on year. I guess it can't be done in SWVA because the Mighty Rebels of Emory can't do it..... Speaking of which, have you ever heard a professional offense play called? If so, there is no high school kid in the world that can handle that amount of verbage and know what they are suppose to do. The problem is usually not the scheme, but the players.
