Lee was a bad hire from the get go.  Anyone who knows SWVA football knew that.  There is no excuse for quitting on a group of kids that have put their trust in you  I hate it for the kids b/c they had bought into him but they'll have better leadership the rest of the way.   Those kids have been running the wing T for the last 3 years.  I don't think it'll take to long to put a small version of it back in.    Wright has still been teaching the strength and conditioning program at Battle.  I've heard the off season program wasn't remotely as challenging as the past few years but I'm sure Wright has at least made up for some of it in class.         This team was in a rebuilding mode reguardless but I guarantee that Wright will have them competing their butts off for 4 quarters reguardless of the scoreboard.       Hate this for the kids but they're in better hands now.       I just hope that the administration makes a better hire the next time around.

Coaches will include Jimbo Adams, Greg Mance, Steve Wright, James Colley, Todd Tiller, Darrel Taylor, Mark Sloan, Colby Amos, Andy Bowers, Hammer Browning and myself
 
It's not to late to get players involved.   If you can suggest any players for me to contact, please do.    The 2 main area's that we need to fill are QB's and lineman.
QB wasn't initially an issue several will be on vacation and a couple have injuries.    Keep in mind that this is SR's from this past season. 
   
 
When I came on,  my goal was to turn this game into the best in the state.  IMO the VHSL keeps putting more and more distance between itself and SWVA.  My goal is to reward our kids with a great experience and give them every opportunity to play in front of college scouts.  In this years game,  we'll feature kids from the very tip of SWVA all the way up to Radford.         I hope all of you come out and support these kids and take in some early football!  We all know that football season cant get here soon enough.

Connor Lundy will likely be in Charlotte preparing for the upcoming basketball season.  He signed to play for his uncle at Queens University.  You may try Max Rodgers from Grayson County.  He has signed to play QB at UVA Wise.  He was a four year starter at Grayson.  Also, the Mabry kid from Fort Chiswell was a senior this season I believe.  He is a terrific athlete and leader at the QB position.

This is the worst talent pool that Northeast TN has had in my memory.    As much as we'd like this game to be a fair match up, it wont be.   Guys..My 8th grade team at Robinson Middle last year had 3 lineman that were 6'3-6-4 240 lbs.  My other 2 starting lineman weighed in the 220's.  We ran over teams and won our tournament championship.   That's one of the 8th grade team that feed into Dobyns Bennett btw.
 
On another note... Dobyns Bennett has between 1700-1800 students.   That's more than the entire Cumberland district.    
It's a great chance for kids to get another game of high school football... they have a good time doing it.   The scoreboard is a secondary matter here so just let the kids have fun.

Helper have you heard anything else. According to some the Vhsl just approved Sandlick for Saturday. If this is true they moved it closer to Altivista than Haysi then the Vhsl has completely lost it! I just don't get it how they can be so incompetent

lol...bleachers are up at Riggs stadium in Appalachia still.    May be a few rocks on the field,   betcha they'd love that.
 
In all seriousness,   This game belongs in Sandlick but DO NOT play it on Turf.   Obviously, they'd love to take their speed advantage to the carpet.
Clintwood would be a good solution if it comes to that.
 
We all know that the VHSL doesn't like teams from down here to succeed,  they never have.    They believe/wish that the state ended in Roanoke honestly.
I'll be very surprised if Haysi gets to retain their home field advantage.

I hope it stays at Sandlick because the Tigers have earned that rite,  but if it is decided to move the game,  I would love to see it at either Honaker or Richlands just so i have a easy drive!  But I do think the Haysi community should host the game since that's the way it is suppose to be. 
But it wouldn't surprise me to see the VHSL screw a SWVA team !

I personally thought that Auburn may have been the slowest team I've seen all season.....and Burton was fortunate to get out of there alive.
For the talent that Burton has this year,  Jimbo has done a heck of a job getting to this point.....and especially beating Clintwood.  I still cant figure that out.
 
With that said.....I've picked against Haysi in the Honaker and Galax games.  I'm not going to mess up the reverse psychology that seems to be working.

I asked my wife to hold off on delivering our son for a few days....told her if she waited until after August 1st, that we could redshirt him in the 8th grade.   She didn't care much about the idea though. lol

41-19 Union over Battle.    Like I said... Battle has about 8 starters out tonight and for them to be in a 22-19 game with Union in the 3rd quarter speaks volumns about the type of kids they have up there and also the coaching staff to have those younger kids prepared.
 
This one may end up being a little lopsided but I'm proud of those kids and the effort they've given tonight.   

I'm really impressed with how hard the Trojans are fighting, especially the younger players who have had to step it up and fill some holes.

Here is my opinion on this...... Clintwood is overrated compared to years past.   They've played 3 teams all year.... an upset at Union,  lost to Haysi and a big loss to Honaker.    I don't think Clintwood would beat Union again if they played 9 more times but did when it counted.
 
I mention that to get to this...... Haysi has 1 good win IMO and it was against Clintwood.       
 
We'll see how right I am...but IMO Haysi is a paper champion...and Honaker will beat them by 3-4 Touchdowns.   Honaker has a solid ball team...not as good as last year IMHO though.   If I'm right on this...it's more of a sign of Haysi being a little overrated than it is Honaker being this dominant. 
When it comes to SWVA.....Ft. Chiswell is our best bet at a State title this season.
