Stanton was a great receiver at Richlands and lettered for the Virginia Tech Hokies.
-
Hokiebird07,
I made my top 10 selections from coaches I had the pleasure of watching their teams play. I am sure Coach Ragdales would have been in my top 5 , if I had included all coaches from Roanoke to Lee county. I am sure from reading his record at Giles High School ( you provided ), he was much deserving of the honors bestowed on him......especially having the stadium named Ragsdale.
-
Merrill Gainer
Ernie Hicks
Harry Frye
Ralph Cummins
Greg Mance
Dave Rider
Glen Carlock
Nick Colabro
Phil Robbins
Burrhead Bradley
-
I heard Tazewell had only six lifting weights, whereas Richlands had around seventy. This should tell you that Coach Mance has an attractive football program, for a young man.
-
Staton is out and the Ball kid will start in his place, is the water cooler rumor ?
-
I heard that coach Wells was going to VA High , as the offensive coordinator.
-
I watched them work out on Ole Ernie this evening and they aren't very big ............ they look faaaaaast!!
Go Tigers!!!!
-
If the Hoos can't beat the Hokies on a down year, when will they every win ??????????
-
Lance, go coach your football team @ Grundy!! You think you a football coach ??????????
-
Jackson ran the same play as Wright last year and our defense did not adjust. He ran all over The Blues and that is what lost the game.
-
Ron and Dave @ WGTH had to sit outside @ the RHS and Abingdon game. One of their fans keep yelling into the radio broadcast, until the flood gates opened up in the 4th qtr.......she left.
-
-
A.J. is the best all around athlete I have seen play for RHS. Keep giving him the ball until they shut him down.
-
Is he another one of Richlands hold backs ?
-
Sorry!!!! Mike @ WVU. He is a personal friend and the best to come out of Richlands.
-
Julius Jones would have to be my favorite, since he played for Notre Dame.
I thought of some former players @ Richlands, that played D-1 football:
Kelly Buskill @ Uva 50's
L.C. Lawson @ Uva 50's
Dale Cristrian @ UVA 50's
Bill Cranwell @VT 50's
Jim Sam Gillespie @VMI 50's
Gerald (Red) Bobbitte @VT 50's
Dickie Cranwell @VT 50's
Mark Ginn @ Wake Forest 80's
Chad King @ VT 80's
Rob Stanton @VT 2000's
Austin Fuller @ VT 2000's
Devon Johnson @ Marshall 2000's
I hope I did not leave anyone out.
-
I heard Logan Thomas parents had purchased a house @ Cedar Bluff and he would suit up for Richlands on Friday night . Coach mance would drive him back to Hotel Roanoke, so he could make curfew and play for the Hokies on Saturday.
-
I know for a fact Tazewell has two hold backs on JV: Elkins and Blankenship
-
Richlands has a new QB coach and has installed a new offense. Coach Wells coached at Radford before coming to RHS. It will take a few games to get the players used to the new system.
-
I agree G Man, this is a mismatch. I have preached for years, that we should have six classifications.
-
I have agree bluenado5 University of Richmond is my favorite.
Elon is 2nd
VA Tech
Emory and Henry
Oberlin, Ohio

Less favorite is UNC
-
Congratulations Devon and Josh. I am sure Rob Stanton is glad you chose Richmond.
-
Congratulations Lowell Lagrunsacie "Sonny" Hagy. A former ourstanding football and basketbal player, for Richlands 1960-63. All of the Blue Tornadoes will be pulling for you Sonny..
-
No problem UVA Observer. We must keep both victims family in our prayers.
-
Also, I have a granddaughter who is graduating this year, at VT. I apology for being a little defensive UVA Observer. I plan to drive down tomorrow and visit with them.
