  1. Something i seen that was unfair so to speak is two schools that ar 2A being in districts with 5A schools. Walker M Gov has 707 students annd will be in the Colonial District with 4 5As 2 4As and 3 3As. And John Champe is the only team smaller than 4A in the Dulles district. I can see if a team is a 2A in a perdominate 1A or vice versa but not that big of a gap. Thats a little unfair IMO
  2. Id love to see that happen. The teams around here would really benifit from some spring ball
  3. I know that TN has a spring football season but VA dont. Is this because its against VHSL rules or because no coach around here does it?
  4. I know that Kingsport TN has a "home school" program where the kids actually come to a building 3 times a week and have class room activities and social dances and so forth. If im not mistaking they also have "home school" sports as well. Im a firm believer that if you dont want your kid in public school then your kid has no right to particitpate in public school activities. No offence to the home schoolers out there but you cant have your cake and eat it too. If the VHSL wants to sacntion a "home school league" that would be great and let it be a self sufficient league that buys its own equipment and so forth. Im not for allowing the kids to particitpate on the same team as kids who go to public school, thats kind of hypocritical if you ask me.
  5. My honest opinion about Lee High's program this season is disappointing at best. After the Lee and Union game I had lee picked to win the CMD hands down. They were the scrappiest Lee team I have seen in years, but as par for course they fell apart in a big way. Lee did not have the ability to close out a game, a fact proven in the Union game, Central game, and many others this season. This IMO was no fault to the players but every bit the coaching staff's fault. A pure lack of conditioning and poor game plans led to the close losses. I like Palko but he isnt a good fit for Lee. Its going to take a coach that can handle the "ploitics" that comes with that position in Lee Co. One name that has been tossed around in the LPD forum is Phill Robbins. IMO that would be a good fit for the Generals. He can handle the "politics" and would be able to set up a winning tradition that is needed big time down there. Lee has too many good athelets to be a loosing program.
  6. I would love to see Lee and Gate City in the LPD. Eastside needs to be but they cn justify being in the Cumberland. If you put DC, Union, Central, Lee, and GateCity in the same district it would be one of the most competitive districts around
  7. Richlands will be good as usual. Programs like that very rarely suffer bad seasons. Will they be up to this years standards should be the question IMO. Im going to jump out on a limb and say Richlands will god 9-1 regular season at the worst.
  8. To me its an amazing accomlishment to see a district down here in this little end of the state that has been so dominant in a sport. Im from the LPD and played at powell valley so it makes me feel real proud to be a part of these numbers. I just hope that this new realignment junk dont break up the LPD
  9. If Boise St joined the PAC 12 they would be a middle of the road team year in and year out. No way they could compete with USC, Oregon, UCLA, Stanford, Arizona, ASU, Utah, but they could compete against Colorado, Oregon St, and Washington. Im not a Boise St fan at all. I feel the Big East is a coward's way into automatic qualifing. Who cant beat Louisville, Cinci, UConn. In a way Im glad they came to the Big East, That way they can get into Bowl Games vs Quality opponents. Kellen Moore is a good qb but qbs like him are few and far between so IMO itll be years before Boise is as good as they are now (which isnt good IMO)
  10. The McGlothlin kid from Richlands is he any kin to the Monster McGlothlin that played in 1999/2000 for Richlands?
  11. Its a shame how people are these days. I own a farm supply store and I sale dog shots with 3ml needles and syringes. I have atlest 5 to 10 people a week come in a basicly beg, lie, an cry for the syringes. I dont sale them to people unless i know its for animal medications but I have no doubt in my mind that I could easily sale 100 a week at any price i wanted if I didnt have any morals about me. Drugs have all but destroyed SWVA. Its pitiful but people are stooping to the levels of stealing bleachers for dope money. Thats sad. IMO SWVA needs to get back to God and really pray for these people, maybe the good lord will find mercy on em clean em up. Itll take God to do it, the courts have done proven they cant do it
  12. Those 8 foot splits arent as big of an issue as you may think. Its a typical formation on the coast for some odd reason. In 94 Middlesex ran those huge gaps against appalachia to no avail. Those big gaps are really fun to run stunts and trades against. Apparently up east teams dont run trades, shoots, and stunts. All it takes to cause confussion is to trade strong side D tackles and D ends with a blitzing LB and it throws those wide spread gaps out of sinc.
  13. as far as neutral sights go, why cant we divide it up that we play it at UVA Wise one year and JMU the next? What do yall think?
  14. IMO this is no different than the old "power point" deal before neutral sights. For example, 94 Powell Valley hosted Sussex Central and Powell Valley lost two regular season games that year to Richlands and Lee High. 95 Powell Valley had to travel out past the coast to Chesapeak Bay to play Northampton for the State game with a perfect season record that year. This having to travel has always been a part of highschool football. Clintwood does have a long drive to go but thats part of playing for "state" qualifing. Its not too fair but like mentioned earlier if the shoe was on the other foot we wouldnt be discussing this matter. Im not a fan of neutral sights nor am i fan of driving 8 or more hours to see a game but thats how the cookie crumbles. Maybe next season some of the A schools down here will be hosting these games and up east they can fuss about it
  15. Ive been discussing this topic on another forum and my thoughts is this simple. Ive seen Sussex in the past (granted 17 years ago) and to me it looks as if not much out there has changed. They are fast but they aint big and cant take being hit. We all know that clintwood will hit you in the mouth no matter what the score is, just look at the Clintwood vs Union game, and I feel that the southwest virginia tenasity will prevail and clintwood will win this game. Someone posted the Charles City vs Sussex Central game on the LPD forum and another poster checked out their size on their roster and Sussex isnt as big as they look in the film. If they split two yards on the front line like that then this could be a possible rematch of the 94 Appy vs Middlesex game. Middlesex would split like that and Appy's LBs were in the back feild faster than light messing up the plays. The veer is a tough offense to beat in highschool but You have to BE TOUGH to run it against smash mouth defense. If Clintwood can controll the LOS on both sides of the ball and keep the ball on offense (which is what they are good at doing) I dont see Sussex beating them. I dont think that Sussex has the D to stop Clintwoods power running and I dont think that Sussex has the heart to hang in a tough hard hitting ball game. The Charles City video showed a running back from Sussex carrying three Charles City kids 20 yards before he fell. I dont see any of the Sussex boys being able to carry any of the Clintwood boys 2 yards much less 20. Clintwood dont lean against you and hope you fall, they pop your a$$ with them shoulder pads and make you fall. IMO Clintwood travels up east and redeems SWVA with a hard hitting performance of slobber knocking football.
  16. Im gonna put it to yall this way, I have witnessed the teams from up east including sussex central play football against teams from down here more than once. Over the past ten years the wins go to the east instead of the west but eastern teams dont like to get hit. If Clintwood can keep the smash mouth football up and play like they mean it then itll be another win for the Green Wave. Im not going to be a bit surprised to see that Sussex Central will be fast and execute plays very well, but getting hit in the mouth over and over hurts and eastern teams dont like pain. It gets them jumpy and off track. Go out and hit them on every down Green Wave and show em that smash mouth up the gut football is what we play down here and its how we win down here.
  17. That comment about LPD pride is uncalled for. the LPD is home to 15 or more state champions in football and numberous state championships in baseball, track, golf, basketball, and wrestling. IMO the LPD boasts for good reason, we win more than most.
  18. Clintwood, Go in there and play your hearts out! Lay everything on the feild. This is your time to shine! Im pullin for ya and so are alot of other people. GET EM WAVE
  19. Myself, Id love to see the rematch. LSU and Bama are the best two teams in the country. Whoelse would they justify passing up Bama or LSU if both teams win out? Oklahoma St? Comeon they lost to Iowa st, a team that wouldnt even score on Bama or LSU. VT then maybe? Im a hokie through and through but i know that the hokies wouldnt do any better against the top two than St. Dominic's school for the Blind and Deaf. What about Oregon then? They proved no match for LSU in opening week and they have lost steam since then so IMO no way. How about Boise? They deserve their fair shake dont they? No they dont! In a way i was hoping that Boise would go undefeated and play LSU for the title just to shut everyone's mouths about how unfair it is for undefeated teams like TCU and Boise to no play for the title, but that aint gonna happen now with Boise's record. Bama and LSU are the only schools who justifiably can play for the title. JMO but it would be one heck of a game to see. Nick Saban is a hard man to beat two times in a row, Les "Mad Hatter" Miles always has tricks up his sleeve and he aint affraid to use em either.
  20. I have not seen GW in person but i hear they are fast. With what you said here deuceswild, this may be a clasic waiting to happen. Power vs Speed! Brute Strength vs Flawless Execution. Ball controll vs High scoreing. Im a huge fan of smashmouth football! I believe in hittin your opponent every play every time from whistle to whistle and showing no mercy and that is clintwood football. GW has the speed to execute their offense to perfection but speed cant always win. No matter how fast you run, you cant run through a brick wall on foot. That being said, Clintwood you guys will have to be a SOLID BRICK WALL on d and hit GW like its your last game ever to win. Im pullin for brute force smash mouth LPD football in this game. GET EM WAVE
  21. If Barry Sanders were on any other team than the Lions of the 90s he would be boasting 3 or more superbowl rings. Their is no doubt that Barry was one of the greatest backs to ever run the ball. hes in the class of Eric Dickerson, Jim Brown, OJ, Tony Dorset, John Riggins and so on. They are franchise men before that was ever a statement to be made in NFL. Barry's son will be one of the best backs to hit the feild as well if he will work hard like his father and keep his nose clean. Second generation players seem to have trouble keeping out of trouble. Younger brothers and sons sometimes feel like the are owed the spot because of who they are kin to. I hope the Marcus Vick/Kevin Winslow Jr syndrom dont effect Barry Sanders JR
  22. Galax has some killer speed from what ive seen and heard. Honaker has pulled out some amazing wins this season but the odds seemed to be stacked against them on this one. We all know that speed in the killer for Honaker. They are good but the tigers cant handle fast teams. Wait a minute, hold on just a second. If I aint mistaken JIB had the speed that Honaker couldnt handle. Burton was picked to win and win big because of there quote unquote speed and didnt Honaker win that game pretty easily? Im not saying that Burton is on Galax's level but I am saying that Honaker's heart has proven all season that they can win. If the stars align just right and the weather cooperates i look for the BDD Tigers to pull off yet again another upset.
  23. LSU has to win out. If the LSU Arkansas game is at night in Death Valley then its almost a guarenteed win for LSU. They havent lost a night game at home in years or ever. If LSU looses its still gonna be Bama or Arkansas in the number 1 spot. JMO but the SEC is too hard to stop! LSU Bama or Arkansas could give a few NFL teams a run for there money.
  24. I hope VA pulls out a win. I dont forsee any reason that Va would loose. We got some serious athelets playen in that game! GO VA
  25. I was chatting on another forum about the Bama LSU rematch. Think about it like this. This time itll be a home game for LSU. The national title is being played for in New Orleans. U take LSU at what is basicly a home game and a little Voodoo luck from the Cajuns and itll be a National Championship for the Bayou Bengals. No matter the outcome its going to be 6 strait BCS championships for the SEC and the first time in BCS history that the top three spots belong to the same conference. The SEC is deffinetly the dominant Conference in College football
