  1. Most of Tazewell's 8th grade team worked out with the high school kids during weight training and summer workouts. The coaches have been involved and worked with these kids quite a bit this year. They run the same type of offense as the high school and the program is finally building from the middle school up, so the future is bright. I think these kids will stick together, it's one of the things they keep preaching. Stick together we can get it done! You will see a heavy dose of these kids getting playing time next year as freshmen as well. Patience is the key to getting Tazewell's program going and coach has it heading in the right direction.
  2. Something tells me Tazewell wins this one. 2 weeks to get ready. Everyone is healthy and I think the offense gets rolling again. Tazewell by 12+
  3. I think the Golden Wave have a tough two weeks ahead of them. Hurley then Richlands, sheesh I hope they come out healthy. It's great they are 6-0 this year, but I don't think they will beat Hurley.
  4. I was optimistic for Tazewell to have at least a 5-5 season this year but it looks like a 3-7 and maybe a 4-6 for them. (not sure they can beat Grundy) I really give Marion credit for the game last night. Their defense played very well. Loaded the box, sent 1 or 2 on a blitz all night and challenged Tazewell to beat them by throwing the ball. Marion had one kid on Kitts all night and one on Harris and they both done their job. If Tazewell could have broke through the line (Marion was loading up) they may have had a chance but their players (Marion) did exactly what they needed to. Richlands will make the game ugly if they choose. I look for them to put 60+ on Tazewell pretty early and coasting on in from there.
  5. Tazewell looks dazed and confused.
  6. Grundy has a tough couple of weeks ahead for them. They have done a great job to this point but the next two weeks could be rough for them.
  7. I think Tazewell pulls one out. They have athletes and I keep saying at some point those same athletes will get things clicking on D. For some reason, I believe it will be this week. Tazewell is hard to beat if they are in a close game, that offense can roll. I think the win last week inspires them. Tazewell- 100 Marion- 99 :)
  8. Tazewell just can't tackle a bowl of chocolate ice cream right now. I don't see it getting any better for them either. They have an offense that can move the ball but defense is horrible. as the old saying goes "offense sells tickets, defense wins games" The next 3 games are going to be a test for them.
  9. GW all the way. I picked them to win it all in A this year and I just don't see Galax beating them. I think Galax will give them a game but GW is so talented this year.
  10. I think Tazewell wins. We won last year by 13 and our offense is a little more explosive this year. Tackling is still an issue but the momentum from last week carries over. Dogs- 32 Warriors- 25
  11. I agree with him GMan. Having #3 back this week will help on D but still no way they will stop Graham.
  12. We have fought the Coaching carousel in Tazewell for years and look where it has brought us. Coaches need time to build a program not just field a team. Coach Allen is making huge strides right now and hopefully can stay around a lot longer to get the program right. I don't know the coach at Rye Cove but it looks like he needs some time to get it going and Lord knows he doesn't need people trying to run him off.
  13. Tazewell will play inspired football but they just don't have enough to hang with Graham. Tazewell played one of their best games in years Friday but tackling was an issue. They were without one of their better defensive players against V High and now Watson is out so tackling may not be any better this Friday. I look for a fairly lopsided game but it's high school football and one never knows. I say 56-26 in the favor of the G-men. As far as Graham goes the only scary games I see for them after Bluefield is Richlands and Abingdon. Giles just isn't where they have been in the past and I don't think Galax is either. They should and I will repeat SHOULD breeze through most of their schedule other than those two games. I for one would love to see the G-Men beat Richlands this year and I think it will be one to watch this year.
  14. George Wythe will win a lot of ball games this year. They are big and have skill position players
  15. I believe it will be an offensive game for both teams. But as things go, it may be better on defense than most think. In the end it will come down to Coach Simon vs Coach Palmer and it's hard to beat a seasoned coach. Simon wins, keeps the streak alive.
  16. John Luke and Sturgill are the top two in this area for sure. TJ Kitts will be pretty good at Tazewell also. The kid is working his butt off during the off season.
  17. Tazewell has got plenty of seniors on this years team and should be competitive. Big win over Richlands last night 13-0
  18. Can Grundy pass the ball? If they can it could be a really close game. Tazewell is ok at stopping the run but are young in the secondary. The offense for Tazewell can move the ball and I've been kind of looking forward to this game. Not only because of the incredible Chinese buffet on the way down but because this could be a really interesting game. What's your thoughts Lance?
  19. This one could get very interesting. Maybe Abingdon will do a Brady and deflate the balls a little. The only thing I can state for sure about this game is that a team in Blue and White will win. Hard to say which one but I have to give the edge to Richlands. Payback is hell they say and I have a feeling Richlands will be ready for this one. It won't surprise me at all if Abingdon pulls it out but I have to go with the Cedar Bluff Cyclones in this one. Richlands 45 Abingdon 30
  20. Looks like a good one between Bland and Narrows!
  21. I wouldn't count out Grayson County in this one. They are physical and tough and their QB is hard to handle. This one could be a real game!
  22. The weight room program has steadily increased for Tazewell. The new athletic facility will help tremendously because there is a lot more room and the new equipment will get utilized. One of the biggest differences in Tazewell and Richlands is this: Richlands players, coaches and fans believe they can win any and every game. Just like you stated, it's the mentality of the game. Tazewell doesn't have that. Its part of the culture of the program right now and once that changes I think the program will really be on the mend. It will sadly take some time and I hope Allen can hang around to get the program built to where he is working to get it.
  23. I'm really looking forward to the Tazewell/Grundy game. I see two teams that like to run the ball and I really think it will be a slobber knocker. As far as matchup games the Richland/Abingdon game will be interesting. I was surprised how Graham hung around with the Falcons but my understanding is the pass game wasn't a factor for Abingdon with the weather. I say this will be a good one to watch. I also think Graham has 2 games that could get really interesting. 1. Grayson County- I was really surprised with them and I think the game with Graham could be a world beater. Grayson is pretty tough and physical and the matchup against Cousins from Graham could be wild. 2. Bland County- This could be a shocker and the Bears may just pull it out.
  24. I tell Coach Allen and the other coaches a lot that I like what I see from the kids. Allen has been great for the attitude and character of the boys and I wish the community would only recognize the positives that will bring later in life. Coaches are always criticized for not winning games but building great young men is important.
  25. Tazewell players won't try to hurt Nick. They are really good kids and will just play the game. Talent wise, Tazewell just won't have the ability to hang with Richlands and it will be an uneven game. I really don't think Mance will run the score up either but may not be able to help it. It will be somewhere in the same range as the Graham/Richlands game. A lot of the JV team will get to play in the second half for Richlands with a running clock but Richlands JV kids aren't too bad themselves :( I do think Tazewell will move the ball a little on them but Richlands D is tough. Final: Richlands- 56 Tazewell- 7
