  1. I think Tazewell gets back on top this week and whips OPEN by a 52-12 score! OPEN scores late on the J.V. team. Richlands however will struggle this week by overlooking their OPEN opponent and get outscored 5-3. OPEN scores late on a bad snap at the goal line. Just for fun! Both teams enjoy your open weeks, get healed up and finish the year strong!!! Keep up the momentum Richlands, you are playing great ball right now. Tazewell, get back to the basics, heal up and come out strong for the remainder of the year.
  2. Rumor. He got suspended last week from school for a couple of days for fighting but will be on the field Friday. Tazewell needs to get back to the basics of what they were doing the first 4 games. Hall may not be like Blankenship but the kid is tough as nails and won't give up. Hand him the ball 25 times a game and he will break one on you. It's basic football, run, run, run, run, run, run, then pass the ball. Tazewell had a ton of success with it the first 4 games. Of course, 10 turn overs in the past 6 quarters of football hasn't helped either. :(
  3. I kinda agree on the Northwood. I hope not I like to see the ole salt shakers winning
  4. Northwood could lose their first game of the year Friday. Just saying....it could happen
  5. Nick is out. Won't be back until Grundy and maybe not until Abingdon. Peery is out on the line, that hurts also.
  6. Blankenship is out with mono. Everyone but Asbury is healthy. We could have used #13 this week to help on defense with Nick out but the game plan is ready. Don't discount Chris Hall running the ball he is tough and quick. Also, there will be a Reed running the ball tonight, been a while since we've had one of them in the backfield.
  7. On a side note, in all the years I've traveled to Marion for games, the people working the gates and concessions are 1st class. One of the best places I travel and get treated great. One thing that really scares me Friday night is the weather. 80% chance of rain. Kinda helps a team with a huge running back like Marion has.
  8. As a Tazewell guy, I hope the Beavers only beat them like 7-0 but beat them up really well. :)
  9. Hmm, interesting observations all around. On offense, Bluefield will be hard to stop. However, Richlands has the ability to play physical enough to offset some of what Bluefield does. They may contain the Beavers a little more than what people think. On defense, Bluefield has shown they are slow to play the pass. They have speed everywhere but they can be passed on. River Michaels has shown some impressive ability to throw the ball the pas couple of weeks and I see it again Friday night. Will Richlands be able to score enough to contain the high flying Beavers? Probably not but I do think they will keep it close. I'm not making a prediction on this one but it is by far the most interesting game this week in high school football for the area.
  10. I think the loss at GW is what the Dawgs needed. This game will be a slugfest but in the end, the pups pull it out. The passing game will be in full effect Friday for Tazewell. Tazewell-33 Marion-28
  11. There was some bad no calls. I agree with stu_bean, it was the perfect loss to hopefully get back on track. My thoughts, It's hard to be hungry when you are full. Starting 4-0 filled this team up and they have got to be hungry all year to keep playing like they did the first games.
  12. I think myself, stu_bean and bulldogs52 all saw this coming. Next week will not be any different if the attitudes stay the same. Like I said, winning is new to these kids and they aren't seasoned on how to play from being down. Look for Marion to give us a heck of a game next week as well and maybe another loss. I certainly hope not but I can see it happening. Congrats to GW, I knew the talent was there and the speed showed up last night. Good Luck the rest of your season.
  13. I'm green and white through and through, graduated from there, played there been involved for years with the team but I have to say this: Tazewell will probably lose a game within the next two weeks. I truly hope I'm wrong but just have that feeling. GW is scary because of the shear talent they always have. I think they can keep up with us in a "track" meet of a game. While we do have a ton of seniors, winning is a new thing to most of these kids and I just don't know how they can respond to a close game with a good opponent. GW may get us this Friday night. Marion is really scary in my opinion. Tazewell has struggled against them in the past and Marion is not a bad team at all. I look for it to be a slug fest in Marion. Hoping we can keep it up and not lose a game but I see one coming for some reason. They played flat against Chilhowie and honestly Tazewell stretched the lead out at one point but the Warriors didn't give up and was really close to getting an onside kick at the end that would have made the game REALLY interesting. Very cautious prediction: Tazewell: 20 GW: 14
  14. Richlands wins but I do think Va High will play with them for a while. Just seems like one of those games that is a tough one. In the end I think Richlands will win by at least 20.
  15. My mama would whip us with just about anything. Coat hangers, switches, belts, you name it I was probably whipped with it. What is really sad about this situation is there is no privacy for any athlete. Sure he probably went to far in whipping his kid but the young an may have needed a whipping. Sad for him, our world is so different now days that parents have to be careful in everything they do regarding their children.
  16. IF Tazewell had gotten the win last year in this game it would have really changed their season. The kids are hungry for this rematch and feel they owe Chilhowie a little pay back for last year. I look for them to have their "foot on the gas" tonight and pending some strange, unforeseen circumstances, Tazewell will cruise to a win. We will be without Brewster because of a high ankle sprain but there are a number of players ready to step up and fill in. Tazewell 50 Chilhowie 20
  17. Graham but Grundy will come out to play and won't give up
  18. Things are quiet about this one. What's your thoughts? It's been a barn burner over the years. Will there be another mystery 5 seconds to decide the game or will it be a clear victory for one of them?
  19. We have a kicker. Just had to make up his days missed before playing. He should be on the field this week.
  20. "Stripes" should be their new mascot! Funnnnny!!!!!
  21. Graham will get there first win of the year next week against Grundy. A win is always a positive motivator and they will turn things around.... a little. They have a tough schedule left for them. I personally think that Meade being out make a world of difference for them. I also agree with Popeye, they have some gifted kids that stand on the sidelines when the defense is on the field. Play those kids!!! It's high school football and when you have talent, play them!
  22. They will surprise people in my opinion. Everyone is talking about them being down this year but I bet the still win a lot of games. Drove by there the other day and they have a lot of kids. Tazewell vs Richlands should be a good one this year.
  23. Abingdon= Band. Those guys can get it on! Tazewell is the same way. Full Varsity and JV team. Huge band with Jim French there. The whole area is down in participation.
  24. Tazewell finally has numbers! At least 2 quality players for every position.
