He plays center on offense and is pretty good there. They have him at LB on defense (at least they did early in the year when I saw them) and he is just too slow to be a good LB although just seeing him standing there in the middle is probably intimidating to the other team. IMO they should move him to defensive line. Not too many opposing players are going to be able to push him off of the line.

I watched the Abingdon/Battle game last Friday. When I saw Abingdon warm up and play in the first quarter, I was asking those around me why they were not winning more games. They have a lot of talent and some pretty good size on the field. Is it coaching or is it something else? It looked to me that they have some pretty good football players. I can only conclude that the coaching may not be up to par.

And some would say that he didn't even coach football then. jk

Beamer is too loyal to his assistants. It is time for him to realize that some of these guys need to go (Newsome, Stiny, O'Cain to name a few) or Beamer may end up going out with them. Beamer has done great things for the VT football program but he has taken them as far as he can take them, unless he is ready to clean house and get some real assistant coaches.

I think Richlands beat Battle's JV 50 something to 0. Battle's JV beat Holston by a TD. From what I have heard Battle's JV is not too good.

I was pulling for Seattle to win, but I have to say that it was a terrible call. That should have been an interception.

I remember watching his uncle (I think it was his uncle) Joe Pope play at Abingdon and then at Emory. He was a very good player.

I taked to a lady at Verizon last week. She said that she had been hearing that Verizon would be offering the 4s at a very reduced price (maybe even free) if you extend your contract with Verizon for 2 years. She said that she would not say that it was definite but that was what she had been hearing.
